Here's that snow my mom was watching the other day. Looks pretty, but only when you don't have to shovel it!
The rains brought alot of snow
Brrrrrr Kathleen! Glad I don't live there, I don't do snow at all! It's pretty to look at in pictures but if I had to shovel it or live in it, I'm afraid I'd move!
I hear ya, Louise, me too! My sister, bless her heart, retired up there to take care of my parents (and because she loves the area). Her DH is mostly housebound because of the weather - can't take the cold and has to be close to the pellet stove. They have never had this much before. Usually, they get no more than a dusting that is gone the next day.
Yeah, it's been mighty strange weather all over. Nice day today, a few clouds but at least the sun is shining.
Yes, I'm hoping the weather will settle down in time for the garden party. I always look forward to what I call the "false summer" we get in March.
That must be like the 'false spring' that I think we get in February.
I really, really want to go out and cut things back and have to make myself wait because I'm afraid of what may happen in February..
I really, really, DON'T want to go outside, because I'll have to deal with weeds!!!
Yup, rain and sun = weeds. I only had 7 rows to finish in the iris garden and now I'll have those 7 and the other 15 to go back and do over!
kvetch, kvetch, kvetch ! Weeding is all PART of gardening, Ladies !
How come I like to weed? It is something I enjoy doing, especially when the ground is nice and moist, so the weeds come out so easily.
Since we can't work in the soil yet (too wet), I decided today to start cutting back my Passion Vine and Bow Tie Vine that covers my Arbor in the front yard. It is so heavy with greenery, that the Arbor has been swaying in the wind lately. It needed it anyway, as there was a lot of dead stuff under the green and it was looking very unsightly.
We are supposed to have a nice dry week, until the weekend again. I think Mike and my gardens can use a little break for a few days. Right Mike???
Absoluely, Donna. I have standing water along the edges of my garden right under the fence...which is now starting to lean. The ground just won't hold any more water.
I think we'll be OK weather-wise for about a week...I hope !
Oh, I need a good week...so much to do. I like to weed also. It's meditation, mindless and calming....if I'm not being stressed by other things more pressing. Sun is shining now so I'd best get to it!
I don't mind SOME weeding - it is satisfying work. But we still have a LOT of unplanted ground so even with hired help, Roundup, weed suppressants and mulch it is a big chore that never ends. Then there are the slopes. :-(
Definitely better than the first year, though, and it helps to see results! Maybe I should have a weeding party? lol
Its raining again this weekend, we really needed this rain, maybe now they can stop complaining about the drought.
Has it STOPPED raining at your house? It's been raining here steadily since before we got up this morning. A couple of times we thought it had stopped, but it was still misting. It's going to be mushy out there. Hope it helps everyone.
water water everywhere and not a drop to drink !
