I have read up on some other posts about white mold. I don't have any around the base of the plant but more so around the roots....which I know is bad,and could kill the plant. some of the leaves have turned yellow, and are curling and acting quite freaked out. I will stop watering it but can I add some spanish moss to help get rid of the excess moisture? Can I add spanish moss to all my house plants with out causing damage......or creating more mold?

Could you let us know what type of plants it is you are concerned about, yes mould is not too good, but then what has caused it and what kind of plant would help find out the solution to the problem, adding Moss around the plants could just keep more moisture in the soil adding to the build up of mould, but then again, for some plants moss could be a help as some plants need and do grow in mossy places, perhaps the best thing for now till you can tell us more would be to remove the plant from the pot, remove the soil, wash the roots very gently in tepid water running from a tap, then replace the plant into new fresh compost, for a lot of my indoor plants, I top dress the compost with a fine grit or pebbles that help to prevent green lychens or mould growing on the top of the soil, the mold normally gets a grip either if the soil is kept constantly too wet or wet and cold, but there are various reasons for mould to start, what you need to do id make sure for now it dont spread up and onto the growing plant above the soil. so if you do remove the plant from the pot, wash out the pot and your hands to prevent the mould spores from spreading to other plants. WeeNel's right about repotting it--if the roots are starting to rot because you've kept the soil too wet, the best thing you can do is give it a fresh start in some drier soil and watch the watering from here on. And I agree moss isn't the best idea if you're already struggling with watering too much.
