Daily Musings #20

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I've seen that - it's funny!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

That is a good one!

Well, February vacation is officially upon us!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Not so funny - my actual airbag actually deployed for real. I mean yeah, the video WAS funny, but I'm so bummed about my car that anything that reminds me of it is depressing. But that was funny!

You GO, GrannyGirl!!! I want to be just like her some day!! LOL

Hmmmm ....
I wish I could play video on my computer. Or at least get it to play faster.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Still on dial-up, right? Bummer.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Yeppers.

Still on dial-up. Still out in the sticks. Still slow as molasses.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

But, at least you're still with us!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Good point, Sue. x, Carrie

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

And german chocolate cake!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

if we are talking molasses - shoofly pie!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Can you make it without crust? (Pretty much stopped baking since my daughter got celiac disease.)

x, Carrie

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

ANYTHING chocolate!!

belleville, NJ(Zone 6a)

shoofly pie is kinda like pecan pie without the pecans, so it would be challenging without a crust...

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like it would make a great "pudding", though!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

It's too late for dessert. Y'all are making me hungry! Thank goodness there aren't any Mallomars left.

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

What happened to the Mallomars, Harper????

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Um, did I say Mallomars? No, I didn't.... um, never you mind what happened to them! (whistling, looking at ceiling...)

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

(whistling, looking at ceiling...)with the evidence on her chin. LOL

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

I never leave evidence!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

She probably learned that from DS! Actually, my girls are AWFUL about not leaving evidence around. They open forbidden candy and leave the wrappers behind, create off-limits MySpace pages and leave them open on their computer desktops, steal my clothes and then shed them in sweaty little heaps on the bathroom floor. And yes, before you ask, they were raised by wolves and they were brought up in a barn.

x, Carrie

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Well, hopefully, each and every one was DEE-LISH!!!! LOL

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I wouldn't know; I never get to eat them. NO Louise, we're more worried about the MySpace pages announcing they're 19 and single when they're 13 and underage! (You have to certify that you're over 14 when you join, and i guess she figured as long as she was going to lie, she may as well make it a whopper!)

x, Carrie

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Sorry, Carrie - I was responding to Harper's "She doth protest too much" response re: the Mallomars!! I was hoping "whoever" ate them found them each to be dee-lish! LOL

I don't envy you raising kids in the "MySpace" generation!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Believe me, Louise, punishment was swift and severe. x, Carrie

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Carrie:

You are a good parent to monitor that MySpace stuff. I wish more parents were as involved in what's going on in their teens' lives as you are.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

I read their e-mail - it's one of the Rules. No MySpace. Facebook's ok - I have one too so I can keep an eye on her.

The fourteen-year-old doesn't have a Facebook. She's been breaking a lot of Rules recently.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Both of my daughters were "difficult" at 14 - you have my sympathy, Carrie :-)

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

shucks, Michaela, come to think of it, I was "difficult" at 14, if my mother had noticed.

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

I tell all my intro students about the horrors of 14 year old daughters - the male sudents look very puzzled, and I tell them that they "have been warned!" The female students just smile :-)

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

The problem with being (around) age 14 as a female is that you're so emotional from hormones all the time, that it's harder to just enjoy life.

I remember last year in 8th grade, my dd was so stressed by the guidance counselor trying to get her to decide whether to go to regular high school (for academics leading to college) or trade school (graphic arts).

Springfield, MA(Zone 6a)

Why would a kid have to make a decision like that? Who knows what you are going to do at age 14? Poor girl.

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Agreed. DD#2 has 'decided' she's going to Harvard, Harvard Med., etc. and I hate to discourage her, and I'm glad she's got high goals for herself, but jeepers, I'll hate to be around when the rejections start coming in.

xx, Carrie

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

I'm glad I'm not 14! Kids are so much more knowing now. Knowing, but not that much more mature. I was lucky to have a quiet daughter who didn't have myspace and facebook to play with.

Wow, Harvard! It doesn't hurt to have lofty dreams!

It's been miserable the last few days. Sunday we hit 60*! That was great! I walked around the yard, plowing thru the snow like I was wading in water.

It was all very zen. Then the next day it snowed.
