Daily Musings #20

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Seeing the old thread has been resurrected, I may as well get a fresh page going.
We are coming from http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/764152/

Did you ever have a mother park her shopping cart with child behind your car after you got in? I darn near crushed the toddler. All I saw was this little face in my rear view mirror.
We are lucky I always check all mirrors.
Think Spring.

Yikes!

Jersey Shore, NJ(Zone 7a)

Nice to see you Andy. Glad you're following the old adage, Crush no child behind. What was Mom thinking........!!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You would have crushed more than her strawberries...That is scary. Good thing you were alert!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

As a Mom, I would of gotten out and told her what I thought..not smiling while I did either!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

By the way.nice to see you again Andy! Been keeping yourself pretty busy?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

That incident happened a couple of months ago, it stays on my mind. Some people are so blind to what is going on around them, it's inconceivable.
Yes, Pixie. I've been busy trying to figure a way to generate income with photography. I'm getting a bit old for interior painting with ladders and such. I'll be able to collect Social Security later this year, I need something less physically demanding.
I've joined a few semi-pro "Photo For Sale" sites, I have to get more RAM for the laptop to produce image sizes for one site. (An extra Gig of ram is coming next week.)
The strawberry was a T-Shirt design before I added the red background.
I've been looking for a new career for 30 years, lol. Painting was supposed to keep me busy until I found the right one, that was 15 years ago. h

(Zone 4a)

Well that is one beautiful strawberry.....

Hey I am not saying I defend the mother but it is possible she didn't see you? I know if I am out with BOTH kids it is very stressful at times - I do my best to be my most alert however I do know "things happen" too. Good thing I have those eyes in the back of my head LOL

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Hi Andy! I agree. Some people have no idea what's going on around them. It's scary. Glad you didn't hit the kid.

Dawn, you're right. She didn't see him. She wasn't looking and she should have been. If her kid got hit, she'd be real sorry! Gotta be aware all the time.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I blame the kid.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

How is your semi pro work going Andy?

Lots of close calls in this world. A few weeks ago this lady walking crossed the street right in front of me without looking or slowing down.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I'm been having fun getting in trouble on a photo group at Eons.com tonight. Eons is for the over 50 people, old pharts like me, lol. A moderator was complaining about too much activity. I bet she drives for miles with the left blinker on.
Am I getting in trouble here, too? lol.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Was it Jan.LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Al, what are you doing here? You're in the mid-west, lol. I've sold a couple greeting cards, don't know where I'll spend all the money.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm in my thirty-teen somethings.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Hey Andy! The "NE" has expanded since you've been gone. With global warming and all that - we now go all the way West to Long Beach, California. How is Sarah these days?

(Zone 4a)

Here is a photo of my fully finished dinning room - finally. All the furniture, wall hangings etc were replaced...what do you think?? I love it!!!

Very nice!

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Pretty classy!

(Zone 4a)

Thanks!!! I like things simple without clutter....the fewer peices of furniture for me - the better :)

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Then ditch the table.

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Looks great Dawn!

Andy - there isn't a musing thread in the UMW forum is why.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

Dawn, natural wood and sage green are a perfect match.

Al, I guess we can allow you in here for now, lol.

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Dawn, you need a rug to warm things up a bit. Nice!

Eastern Long Island, NY(Zone 7a)

No leave the table & add some clutter, a rug may get food stains.

Nice! ☺

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Lovely, Dawn!
Very calming.

Andy, thanks for starting a new thread for us to muse along.

It's freaking COLD!!! -1 right now and sure to dip another couple of degrees before daylight.

Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Dawn,
Very nice dining room. I like the simple, uncluttered look too. My dining chairs are much like yours, in white/ivory. I agree with Harper that a rug would warm it up--a patterned rug.

Andy,
It's nice to see you (and your beautiful photos) again. The Musings thread was always one of my favorites, and one of the first that I came to when I joined DG.

Loretta

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Harper - I need a rug for my office! Have any free samples laying around? LOL

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Nice job on the makeover, Dawn! Love your colors!!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

I need one of these:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/01/22/2143809.htm

They found a plant in Australia that eats rats. I want to see if I can train it to eat moles.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Cool. I want one that eats deer. I love pitcher plants and just ordered one.

Fairfield County, CT(Zone 6b)

Maybe you need a keg plant for deer, Victor.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Funny!

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Dawn, very elegant! You must be so proud of yourself!

Andy, your story reminds me of about 10 years ago in Walmart a little girl (1 or 2) was in a shopping cart, unbuckled. She fell out and cracked her head on the floor. As we was screaming, a group was forming and nobody did anything - even the mother. I yelled for someone to get ice and to call 911. She had a huge egg on her head!

Many times, when I see a kid unbuckled in a wagon, I relate that story to the mother. They probably think I'm too nosy!

Clinton, CT(Zone 6b)

A nepenthes x coyote hybrid would work for that, Victor. Aside from limiting the damage from deer, the plant would make a great home security system. Of course it might get the homeowner too so that might limit its popularity.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Good one David! One wrong step...

(Zone 4a)

Hey I would go with a rug - but with 2 little ones no WAY!!! I think I sweep like 4x a day just to keep it up.....maybe once they are older but yes I agree a rug would be nice and more cozy....but by then I am hoping for a bigger home with a bigger yard for gardening!!

I love the fact I can just wipe down the chairs with no problems!!!!!

Oh Sue I hear of so many stories like that too where kids fall of those carts!!! I will not allow my kids to stand on or in the carts - if they do so the cart does not move!!!
