NorCal Pottery Outlet in San Leandro is closing

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

When I first saw this type pot last week (plainer ones like the top one here,) I really didn't like them. By the 5th trip there I was buying them madly.

Then the other day out came more ornate ones and of course I had to pig out on them just in case I ever found matching plants.

Now mind you, this was after I had bought by the car loads the highly glossy gaud ones in cobalt blue, lime green and neon yellow brown which sounds putrid but is actually fantastic. I must have a split personality to buy both kinds. LOL

They are all quite large by the way.

Seeing them all grouped like that, they are beautiful!

It was funny as we were walking around looking at pots, back and forth up and down the isles, I said that after a while, they all grow on you, even ones that you didn't care for at first.

Well, I needed something tall & vertical here so planted Japanese Holly, slow growing mature height 6-8 ft, perfect for this spot next to the garage door I think. Based on the comments in PF, I may have to get more, they give that Italian Cypress look without the height and they add a vertical evergreen element to a garden. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/53332/

Here's the one on the other side of the garage, I see it's leaning, will have to fix that.

Beautiful Sue. What a lovely job you did.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Geez pretty, Sue. You are off and running, I sitll have tons of the pots in my driveway. My husband is not happy! LOL. I did start buying soil to fill some with. That is in the driveway also. LOL Now if only I had some room to place them.

I was at Armstrongs yesterday and they had our red pots minus the pattern which makes ours better. And guess what .............. a pot the same size as the smaller one we bought had a price tag of $199.

Read it and cheer!

I told my husband how much money I saved him!!!! He was not impressed.

WOW! Thats' the one I got for $10, only better with that texture we both liked.

I bought 10 bags of potting soil yesterday, stacked on the side of the house. I have company coming Sat., engagement party for son so I have to clear everything off the patio. At least we have awesome weather!

Where did you get your dirt?

Here is one at Longs. It was very small, not even 2ft tall but same maker as our red pots, with the gold spots. I am putting the yellow culm bamboo in one of mine!! Anyway it was $42.

And ours of course!

Longs had these too. They awere $52. Wasn't Norcal selling them for $4? Lali bought some of these for Zu.

Tom lugged these 2 to the backyard to the corner dumping ground. He said they killed his back, I bet. He wants to know what I am going to put in there. I have no clue. I have 2 of the green ones. They are so big.

oh I love those! I do wish I had bought more big ones.

I always get the Kellogg Patio Plus from either HD or Lowes. I like the ingredients, It contains worm castings, kelp meal, bat guano, & chicken manure. It's also not as heavy for me to carry as some other bags I used to buy like Supersoil. I can also mix it into the ground.

My Mom called, they got a new shipment in yesterday.
I am not going, I am pot ghettoed out!

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

I'm gonna go tomorrow.
I will buy some for you, but then decide to keep them for myself!
My daughter's MIL did that to her often. She would by something, then decide it was too cute and keep it for herself.
If I do this for you, I won't get sued for creating too much expense on all those pots and the price of filing them.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

ok George, sounds like you got it all figured out LOL!
Hope they still have a good selection.

Fremont, CA(Zone 9a)

What a Ghost Town!
I did manage to fill my car, but not much selection at all. The whole side yard was empty and I would guess there were maybe 50 large pots and maybe a dozen pallets of small pots. She indicated another shipment coming in, so I would definitely call and inquire, JUST AS YOU ARE LEAVING. The lady referred to a FEEDING FRENZY.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Yeah, Sally mentioned the feeding frenzy and we witnessed it too. She said she'll be glad when this is over.

Hey Kell, look at the new pot my ponytail palm just got upgraded to today! She was so root bound in the other one you gave me, took me 10 minutes to wrangle her out. She got her wild hair trimmed of dead ends and I bet she'll explode in growth with all the room now. Instead of the single head she had when you originally gave her to me, she now has 6 mini heads, all sporting the wild do.

and look, walking space!

Still a pot ghetto that will have to be adjusted but at least we have some moving room

Not much in the nurseries yet but I just did this one with colorful warm primroses. It will be easy to retate them out once they are done.

Did a new green glazed bowl with succulents today. That makes 3 bowls I have now.

The urn I just placed at the back door for now until I decide where to place it.

AUGH!!!! This is what I get for having fallen out of the habit of doing DG every day. I didn't see this thread 'til now. I just called and the San Leandro store is toast. It closed a couple weeks ago according to the guy on the phone. AUUUGHHH!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Actually it was closed in March. So sad.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Sue, I just saw this thread. I can't believe you have all that room! Do you still have so much? If so we so need to go shopping. LOOKING GOOD!

Your ponytail looks great in that pot. I so remember those 2 pots. Why did I push you to get them and not grab them for myself? I also need a low pot like yours for my succulent family. What was I thinking not grabbing some of those too!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Oh my goodness, I just scrolled up to see that shot and can't believe how lush and full it looks now compared to when I took it back in Feb. That back fence is almost covered with tall growth of all kinds of plants and the image below is in front of that bamboo trellis, my Brass Band is getting bigger.
That palm has grown too, I knew it would love that pot! I wish I had gotten more bigger ones.

And I wish I had gotten smaller ones. LOL.

I want to see a picture of your sitting area. No way it still looks like that. LOL. I know you too well.

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Yeah, more crowded but not too bad because I had company sitting out there every morning last week with coffee enjoying the fragrant orange blossoms perfuming the air. I'll take a shot in the morning.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Speaking of scent. Tonight I was at my pottig table doing up the ears I got from the tropical coop and I kept smelling the best fragrance. Just so incredible. I looked up and it was my Arborea. That has to be the best scent known to man.

I posted this shot on my other thread, Kasey posing! See that gorgeous ponytail palm? It's happy!

Yep, more color since Feb.

I have a stain on that one chair and looking at these shots now, I am going to get more subdued cushions, that color is just not working for this patio.

So here's one newly planted. I think I need to add more gold creeping jenny to spill over. I also just added an orange mimulus.

I just planted this Calamondin Orange.

This was the pot you thought was ugly Kell! Last week I planted the Paul Hernandez Begonia you got me in it with bacopa and I still need to add some more filler or spillers. That begonia stays out all winter by the way.

The primroses I had here are gone now and I used extra succulents I got from Michelle to fill in the outer edges, they will take a while to really get going.
