Hi guys -
I bought this plant at a market and it was just called a 'gold nugget' or something along those lines... It is tiny - 7cm tall and 5 cm wide. It looks like a giant bean with a tree growing out from between it. the bean like thing feels hard.
Any ideas as to what this is? I want to know how to take care of it...
Thanks a lot!
Vicky

Most likely Castanospermum australe - sometimes called 'Lucky Bean' Tree.
It's a nice green houseplant, though I had a larger one at one time that didn't overwinter too well with the lack of sunlight in my house during the winter.
Yes, your plant looks like Castanospermum australe also known as Morton Bay Chestnut or Black Bean Tree: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/showimage/167103/
