Scattelogical ramblings and desultory humor - SB Edition

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Notice how I deliberately stayed away all day so I wouldn't start another estrogen battle? LOL I DID counter it though with my remark about BBQ sauce!

Mud wrestling? On no...I'm not even going there! With all the rain we've had, I don't want to hear about mud.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

How about ice, JD...wanta hear about ice all over my car this morning, and on my driveway, and my sidewalk........

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

mmmm....not so much. That's awful.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Yep, invisilble ice. You would have thought I was on ice skates. Not so fun, but COLD.

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

Sharran:

I think that some of that ice came up here on Thursday. I was taking little Baby Sean to the ER, when we came upon a horrid accident caused by the ice on the road. An 18-wheeler and a dumptruck tried to take each other out. They managed to take out several telephone poles. It must have been an awful 'bang', because the 'dump' part of the truck came completely off the truck and landed several feet away.

It was a scary sight, to say the least. I don't know if anyone one hurt because we don't get the local newspaper (yesterday's news tomorrow), but perhaps Sherrie heard about the accident on Route 9 and could fill us in.

We had to be re-routed and couldn't back up to turn around, so it took us two hours to get to the hospital ... usually a 20-minute ride at the speed limit.

This it?

Driver okay after truck overturns
STODDARD - A single-vehicle accident on Route 9 Thursday evening in Stoddard left a dump truck overturned and backed up traffic in both directions, but no serious injuries were reported.

Medway, MA(Zone 5b)

Don't worry, Mike, if you ever came out to a NE rally, I'd shave just for you!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow. Now you are scarin' me!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Don't those world class male swimmers shave all the hair off their entire bodies so that they can gain speed?

eeuuuuwwww.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - I haven't done that yet.

Greensboro, AL

Some male models do it also so their muscles will show up in the photos.

Good news and not-so-good news about the refurbishing this weekend. Almost everything on my list has been completed. The environmentally safe stripper did good on some of the metal pieces but on the end caps - it ate to the bare metal and the metal rusted. HD does not have end caps that match mine so that I could just replace them. That means I have to scrape them down and prime them. That I can do, however I left the widest piece on the front and the top piece to strip today and I'm too chicken to do it, today. I looked at the corners that need fixing again and bought a corner mudder thingee to tackle the just a bit cracked corner myself - but I have to get someone honest in to deal with the other corners and fix the texture on the walls after I clean up some patchng the previous owner did.

The red chunks in the foam pad under the carpet have dissolved onto the oak floor. That is going to be fun to deal with! Oh well - there is always next weekend!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like a project that will last a while. But you will feel great when it's done knowing you did most of it yourself!

Yankee Cat: If you can find some matching wood in a closet or something, you can let in a patch for your wood floor.

You may be able to switch the radiator end cap with one that's not in a visible spot in another room, provided they're all the same size.

Greensboro, AL

Hey Folks! Don't forget to vote in the Pitchfork Man contest!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Don't we need a few more robusto models?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Nah...let's just go with this one, see if he wins or loses.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I'm for CZJ posing for the 'lineup'.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

How could he lose if he's the only contestant?

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Thumbs up or down, Pirl. that's the whole point.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Sounds like an election in the old Soviet Union.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Well.....if we had photos to compare.

Guys??????

Long Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

If you're asking if I have hairy legs, yes...but not super hairy. Just normal I guess. It can't be braided though, like Sue's.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I only shave my legs during gardening season.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

In Provincetown the guys do shave their legs.

Nice to know, Victor. We were all anxiously waiting for that bit of info.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Funny thing - I was searching for a post from last year and came across a post I made on this forum on this date last year. I had posted a few times sporadically before that but this was the one that got me 'stuck' here! The thread was called 'Funding our obsession', started by a carbo3595(?).

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Good idea for another thread, Victor: What got you stuck on the NE forum?
