One of our many projects for our home includes the redirecting of water away from our home foundation. My husband has done most of the digging and in a while we would like to place landscape fabric to the area (we have made a berm ) and then some gravel .
We have been having a discussion about what kind of landscape fabric we should put.
What we want the fabric to do is 1. prevent weeds from growing. 2. now this is more a question then anything. Should the fabric be water permeable? in other words should it allow water to soak to the ground besides the water running away from the foundation? or is there even such a thing?
Just curious.
Thank you all,
Anita
landscape fabric,
Yes, it should (and does) allow the water to penetrate. Using Preen, after you've removed all weeds, then watering in the Preen (a step people love to skip and then blame the product for not working) is essential. Then put down the weed blocking fabric and use "Earth Staples" (available at WalMart) to keep it in place. Cover it with mulch.
Good luck and happy gardening.
ty for your help its much appreciated,
Anita
You're welcome. Please post and let us all know how well it worked for you.
