I need help. My aloe seems to be rotting. At first I thought over watering but it started at the new growths. all the new leaves are gone and there is a slimy brown substance and a white mold growing on it . I dont know what to do I've never seen anything like this and I couldn't find anything on the internet about it. I'm worried because it is in a pot with two other large aloe plants and I dont want to lose all of them. I don't have a picture of it. Please help!
Aloe trouble!!
Any chance you could get a picture? That would really, really help a lot in figuring this out. It definitely sounds like a fungus of some sort, and I don't think you'd have a problem with fungus unless there was too much water around. So in the absence of a picture I'd have to guess you're watering too much--I'd take them all out of the pot and repot them all separately with fresh potting soil and really watch the watering. That'll maximize your chances that it won't spread. Regardless of how the fungus got started, if you keep them all together and they're all the same kind of plant that makes it way too easy for it to spread to the other plants.
I'm sorry there isn't any I can get a pic but thanks for the advice! I will put them in there own pot tonight. thanks
You might also try diluting some hydrogen peroxide and spraying the plants with that--it probably won't be strong enough to get rid of the fungus on the plant that already has it, but it might be enough to help prevent it from getting started on the other two. Putting a little peroxide in the water when you do water the plants can also help.
That was actually the first thing I tried and I'm begining to lose hope for it.
Thank you for everything, it really helped!! :)
