Best/ worse/ ? did you learn today #28visit with friends...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Vicky, had to laugh when you said you wouldn't take grandchild to McDonalds..rest assured your grandchild will be taking you..you'll cave in as soon as they say 'please, please grandma!' Am I right or not girls...lol

Vicki had a good suggestion Liz..surely it's just not your place..as a group you would have a better position to present your case...sorry to hear things aren't going well..no wonder you can't sleep..

Question for you all..do you have a , let's see, I call mine a 'flaw'..this morning was rushing out, couldn't get Sailor in and finally when I did I was running late! Because I've been sleeping in (can't believe it) I got up and thought I'd make my bed this aft. when I get home...we'll into the car I go, backed out of the yard, then backed back in to make my 'bed'..what if something happened to me and someone had to come into the house..they'd see my bed not made..now isn't that the craziest...what's yours..

Glenview, IL

Good Morning!

Geeze...miss an afternoon and look what happens! Wow, great pics. Got to go backwards and read and view again.

As you know, went to our Year end party yesterday. What I have not told you is...it may be the last.
For some past 10 years, our company has been bought, sold, merged...etc. We were just merged yet another time...and each time
we are downsized. You may recall that this past summer I lost two of my partners, my only two and had to resume my position full time., I was a 10 month employee. Loved it for the past 8 years. Well, it has been a very long and lonely Season. Basically I am at bottom of the totem pole. None-the-less I have always loved what I do...LOL I am what I call a glorified paper pusher. So anyway, With this Merge ALL of our higherups have been relaease and replaced by the new titles people. This is just not a good thing. Department by dept...is getting the boot! So, my work load has dropped tremendously...and continues on the down swirl, so I am pretty confident that my position will soon be eliminated. Call it a gut feeling...well, back to the party. This is the big one where people are recognized for outstanding work, and service time. LOL, I didn't get anything for outstanding work(mine is sort of a thank you at the time kind of work) but What I got was incredible...For me. The people who made it 10 years were called and appaluse was given, photos taken, same for the few 15year people. Then 20 years were called. The first three people, applause given and then My name was called. I rose and walked to the stage and as I did...The place ERUPTED with applause and cheers!...Wow can you beleive it? I am still choked up and LOL cried like a baby as I told my family. Even called my brothers and sister's...and Liz, was going to call you too Betty but it was late. LOL not everyday one feels like a star. Afterward I was embraced in hugs and wished congratulations by nearly everyone. Oh my this was the best show of appreciation I could ever receive and will remain in my memory forever. LOL, as I type I am smiling and crying at the same time.
So that was my Best for yesterday.
Worst...the thought of loosing my job and having to look for a new one.
Not really...I will be walking away with incredible knowledge, learned company wide. I have had oppertunity to know some remarkably talented people.
What did I learn? I learned my work does not go un-noticed afterall. All my years of being back in the corner My name/work is a part of the company's History! I have many people to thank for this...(Hear that Carole-My supervisor and friend in heaven)

Well better sink my hands in some work...Got a fun fun project to do!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Rach,

I am NOT an expert on Camellias--I just lucked out with the one I got.

If your blooms freeze before they open up, my guess would be that you do not have a true hardy Camellia. Mine is covered in tight, tight flower buds--since last fall. They just sit there waiting for Spring. No matter how cold it gets. Right now they are about he size of a marble.
I really do not know how you can tell if a Camellia is truly hardy when you are buying one. I just know that a horticulturist guy (who was a frequent customer at HD) pointed to the one I bought and said--"You should get this one--it will be hardy". Right next to it were others that were not. He just knew!
I suppose a really big nursery might know......

Betty,

One of my paintings (from when I was painting--late 70's and early 80's) is of two wolves in a blizzard. They were from the cover of "National Wildlife" Magazine. This painting is everyone's favorite. Mine too......The other one I like is a street scene from the Holy City.

Maybe I should take some pictures for you all....:o) You have asked me in the past....
I don't have too many of my paintings in my possession any more. I was always giving them away as gifts--but--I do have photos of them all that I keep in my "Brag Book".....
I have one for my paintings, one for all the crafty things and such, and one from my job at a Flower Shop--where my creativity had free hand.

Will post them a bit later.....

Gita

Victoria Harbour, ON

Gita..please show us..mine which will be my first and done on ultra suede canvas is done with pencil crayons..sooo...if it LOOKS like wolves I'll be happy..

OMG Judy, how exciting for you..see, you've touched so many hearts that you don't even realize it..same here, always enjoy your outlook on life...so, SPECIAL LADY enjoy the limelight as long as you can..

As for the job, it will be new challenges, you just might enjoy the change even more than you think..we'll be praying though that you may be kept and looked upon as their 'mascot' (?)

Snowing and blowing..1/2 hr. left and I'm off...

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

Ah, come on, Gita....don't make all us retired, stay at home folks wait. I wanta see!

Seed.......thanks for sharing that with us, it makes us all so proud of you, just as if you are our own, which you are of course! And it makes us realize just what a good group of people we all are.

Liz, I am so sorry that things are rough. You have an uncanny ability to handle things so gracefully though, and I hope you will soon be looking back at this as just another bump in the road.

GG, tell us more about Murphy. I looked at pictures of dogs again yesterday....from rescue sites. I want a dog so much, but not sure the kitties would be happy, but would undoubtedly get used to it. my problem is that I can't walk a dog, and in this tiny town, I can't have a fenced in yard....only on my block, so pretty crazy isn't it. But it is a city ordinance. So my thought was one of the tiny tiny dogs...maybe a yorkie or a Japanese Chin. Something that would not outweigh me, because with my back/leg problems, I can't go chasing after a dog.

I guess I really don't need a dog, but cats don't bark and I think sometimes that a dog might alert me to danger or to a strange noise in the middle of the night. But, if I had a dog, I couldn't travel as easily, now could I? My cats don't mind if I am gone all day or 3 days or a week...I leave their food and water, and a radio playing....and they do fine.

Just thinking aloud.

Just think, if Rachel gets pregnant.......her little doll baby will have a gazillion grandmothers!! It will have so many booties and blankies she will have to have a yard sale.

OK, more later...I think Ethan will be here late tonight......gotta get his room ready.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Sharon, Murphy is a BIG baby Golden Retriever. This is the 2nd one my DH and I have had. We lost our first one who was 13 a little over a year ago. We love the breed so much and wanted to avoid any genetic problems like the hip dysplasia we had with Hobbes so we searched online for a reputable breeder. The one thing we didn't want was to have to go far to find one. We found 2 breeders here in VA from the GRCA site. After talking to both extensively, we went with the one closer to us (30 mins away). She works in a vet and is totally in love with her dogs so I knew our dog would be coming from a loving home. Her professionalism and personable attitude sold us. She basically has people "apply" for her puppies and we went over and met her (I made sure the kids were on their best behavior!). Mama dog was due any day when we went over and the whole house was just so warm and inviting. When the pups arrived, she took 3 weeks off from work to be there for the 24/7. She also installed a webcam so we could tune in any time to see the whelpping box. I was amazed that anyone would be dedicated. We would see her take the puppies and hold them up to mama to clean. Once they started moving around, mama fled the box except for feedings.

Anyway, I've rambled - sorry. Unfortunately, even the tiny dogs needs to get out and run around some. They don't need LONG walks but some outside activity would be good. I love the little Yorkies and the teacup terriers but I'd be afraid I step on them. I'm so used to having big lugs around!!!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Glad to hear that everyone is doing well and are ready for the weekend! Betty you asked how often my sorority meets, twice a month. It’s not a collegiate sorority it’s a social sorority Beta Sigma Phi. http://www.betasigmaphi.org/information.shtm I am the youngest member in my chapter by 20+ years, most of the girls have been together in our chapter Preceptor Delta Alpha for 30+ years, I feel so honored to be part of them. They are some of the most amazing women that I have ever met and I love the values that Beta Sigma Phi is built on.

Gita show those pictures girl! I wish I could draw/paint! My grandma has painted my enitre life, I have several of her works they are some of my post treasured possecions.

Liz hope the insurance stuff gets worked out and that you have a nice lunch with Grams. Yes, you did read correctly we are going to work on getting pregnant this summer/fall. We are practicing right now (heheheheh!!) I have always wanted to be a mom, I am so blessed to have the most amazing mom and dad in the world, but I'm not biased! I just hope that I can be as wonderful at it as my parents are. I know that Carl will be a wonderful father, you should see him with our nieces and nephews and of course our four-legged fur babies.

Judy I am so glad to hear that you got the recognition you deserve! Soak it up lady!

Sharon if you get a "purse dog" you can take it with you on your travels! Have a wonderful time with Ethan this weekend.

Love you all, Rachel

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Jeannine pics of Murphy please! What an awesome breeded, and a webcam so you got to watch your fur baby grow! I love it. Well have to take Scrappy to the vet for his 2nd round of puppy shots, good thing the pet store is next to the vet, we can get a treat!

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

FYI I just joined a tea towel swap here is the link http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/805333/ it is open to everyone, I made sure and dmailed the hostess, she is very nice and says the more the merrier! I only say this because Liz, Betty and I where in one before and the hostess was not as gracious. So gang here is to new tea towels!

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

That is a wonderful story, GG. I love all animals, can't get enough of them. And it is fortunate that you found a breeder who loves her puppies. I think I need to wait until I resolve the dilemma in my mind.

My back yard neighbor has always had Goldens, and they are beautiful. She now has Pumpkin who is sooooo intelligent, but she also has Pumpkin's daughter, Savannah, who is soooooooo dumb. It is so funny to watch them play even now, because Savannah is probably about 4 years old and still dumb. Pumpkin tries to correct her, tries to get her out of my flower beds, tries to get her to not hurl herself against my legs and knock me over, and Pumpkin even tries to help me up! One time I tried to move Savannah away from my blooming hibiscus..the big red one that I was putting mulch around. She wanted to help and kiss my face at the same time. I tried to move her away and she jumped in my lap, she was too big for the lap so about half of her squashed my hibiscus. It was too funny, and the hibiscus of course grew back, but now when I see Savannah I stay away from the flower beds. If I am not there she doesn't seem to wade through them. I also have hummingbird feeders on my back deck. If I sit out in the glider, and if I have on bright red or pink...and if I sit really still, the hummers will land on my shoulder or arm or hair. Savannah tries to grab them if she sees me there...she jumps up in the glider with me and tries to play with the hummingbirds. She is one happy dog, but is simply not tuned into learning rules. She has so much personality, who can resist her, but I could not live with a dog like this, physically I just couldn't.

so, I will just keep dreaming, and will enjoy Savannah's visits when it warms up again.

Thanks for telling me about Murphy...I think I do remember when you got him. Or maybe I remember your first vacation and leaving him.
Anyway, I have watched him grow with your posts. He is a real beauty.

Edited because I kept getting Pumpkin's name in Savannah's antics. I always want to change their names anyway, because the name Savannah is so cool and ladylike, and the name Pumpkin sounds like a real screwball. The reverse is true of these two.

Sharon I love that the hummingbirds sit on you. What an experience! I will have to try the bright colored clothes when I'm in the yard. Usually it's my old pastel, stained tshirts so that I don't get as warm with the dark colors in the summer.

Calvert City, KY(Zone 7a)

They also have a constant buzzzzzzzz going on and when they check out your hair and ears, it tickles.....hummingbirds also chatter all the time, so you get to hear lots of conversations if you can sit still enough with all the tickling and chattering going on in your ears.

Just pack a pink or yellow t shirt, Rach!!!!! Or we can put a big red bow in your hair!

Crozet, VA

I wanted to go back to Ves' post this morning about Ty and pictures of him. I thought I was looking at one of my boys when I saw them. I have a dog named Lucky who is the same coloring as Ty and also the face is similar though Lucky's is much thinner. Lucky doesn't have Chow in him, but is a shepherd and we think collie mix. My husband says that he is the very smartest dog that he has ever met. He is getting some age on him now and beginning to show physical signs of age with arthritis and other pains. The old age has done nothing to curb his antics though. He still has puppy in him it seems.

Let me see if I can find a picture to share. This is him with his Christmas goodie.

Thanks for giving me a place to share parts of my family.

Ruby, my dear, don't thank us, just go ahead and show us.....we love to see and hear about whatever you are interested in.

Great dog...My first dog ever was a collie mix. Actually he was my dad's dog, but Dad was in the Philippines during the war and so I grew up my first 3 years thinking Tuffy was my dog. Actually he was much older than I, but still...... he was a great dog too. And I had my Dad's cat too....whose name was Josephine, I couldn't remember that name, so the cat became Jofasine. Jofa for short. Those were my first two animals, just not really mine.

Would you all please just not post for awhile....I can't get a thing done today for coming back to look at your pictures and read your words. How am I ever going to get the linens changed on the beds. Ethan will be sleeping on a bare mattress and I will be saying, I was just so busy chatting with all my friends.......and the towels aren't in the dryer yet....geesh!

Rosamond, CA(Zone 8b)

Oh my gosh it is so true. I'm rolling. I'll never have a clue of any important things that I am missing now that Monday I started another class and now I am going to classes 3 to 6 and soon to be 9 hours a day on atleast two days a week. grrrr. If some real big thing happens that I need to know please dmail me because you start a new thread every 2 days it seems and I will never post if I read everything and my other threads too + do all the other must do things.

People here store in garages, storage companies, cargo containers, sheds...We have a room too that is a storage room accidently too.

Boy I would not have anything remotely pretty to show you in a picture of the desert in the winter, like your nice pix you post of snow and creeks etc. That is not entirely true here has pretty mountains but the yards are yuck in the booies especiaslly in the desert. People pile up cars like junk yards here. If they have a lot of junk and no stoarage, they put it all over their property in unincorporated areas of a town especially.

Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

Rachel, here are some pics I just posted on another thread about Goldens. Look for my posts for the pics

Just got in from work..ended up stopping to eat out with Suzanne..

Laura, glad you dropped in..you still didn't tell us what going to the 'frog and toad' is...thought it might be restaurant or the washroom...now come on, spill the beans...

You are all talking 'doggies' today..asked Sailor to say hello...

Thumbnail by Bettypauze
Victoria Harbour, ON

lol..she does have beautiful eyes..really...she is extremely smart..infact..the girls are here painting every Monday..she knows that a certain painter goes for a cigarette and plays ball with her, so now, she patiently waits and sits nearby, if she thinks it's too long a wait she's into her purse diggy for the ciggies...

Victoria Harbour, ON

Rachel and Liz, thank you kindly for inviting me into the swap..yes I was extremely hurt that because I lived in Canada I could not join in, think the rules changed from time to time..lol..I'll be a good girl, mind is going zappo..think I'll get out that embroidery machine and do some up myself... so again, thanks for the invite

Laura, how wonderful that things worked out for you..I'm not going to be the first one to tell you I tried it..(now I need a new vacuum..)

Shar, guess you are counting the hours till Ethan get there..can see you fluttering from room to room..all excited...

Rachel, you are going to have to contend with words of wisdom from this group..if not grandma's then many aunties right..wait till you have to explain how we are all related...lol

As you all know, my sister breeds champion American Eskimo dogs..I'll tell you, at a young age of 59 I could adopt a family of 12 easier than you can get one of her dogs..she even has contracts...hmmm

Hello Dawn, you can't get lost because I keep sending you a d-mail of where to find us...

Jeannine or was it Liz who was asking about paper piecing..will get some housework done and then I'll look through some patterns, if they are in the house I'll post, If not..tomorrow is another day...

Well better have that bathe and hot chocolate..exciting night in store for me...rest/rest and more rest...

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Good for you Betty..it is about time you rested! LOL

No pets here. My kids had a dog when they were growing up..a bad poodle..turned me right off dogs.
I was given a rescue cat by my daughter once a long time ago...for company she said....after I'd had it about a year it went out and never came back. The hair on the furniture and carpet and clothes drove me nuts...plus it used to paw me and walk around in circles on the bed to wake me up too early in the morning. So not a cat person.

My son gave me a fancy fish and aquarium last year..I went away on vacation and left long term food in the aquarium and it was dead when I came back. I also have had two Beta fish in the past..both dead...I am just not meant to have pets...although I sometimes think about it..but then I see the drawbacks. Maybe someday I will try a small dog. So many people say to me that I should have one for company. My other son has a wonderful little dog I looked after last year for a week. So many others seem to get such joy from their pets...but I also hear the stories of frustration with them too...you know the digging up the gardens..chewing things..messing in the house..etc..

Gita...another artist..boy, you all have such talent here. Would love to see your photos of your paintings.

Ruby...speaking of Shepherds..this is my eldest sons dog..they have three different breeds..this one and two little ones
This one is a sweet quiet one..his name is Deacon..taken in 2005 at my son's home..

Hey.....why couldn't we do a round robin thing just in our thread, just among us?

We already do send each other little things....would it be fun or not? Why not?

Maybe we could have one thing a month, set a limit of what...$5???

I almost said we could do a round robin or secret pal and just do it with hand made things, but ......

Just thinking here. Or a secret pal for maybe six months....would that work? Maybe not.

What do you think?

Just a random thought. When we get a newcomer, we could figure it out then.....

Crozet, VA

I like the idea Sharran. I participted in a few gift round robins last year and had a blast for a while. The last one I participated in, I was supposed to end up with the box and the remainder of the items that had gone around. The person who had started the robin never sent the box. She must have fallen off the side of the earth or something.

One of my very favorite places to shop is called The Dollar Tree. Every item is $1.00. I have bought things there that retail for much higher prices at other stores. One year at Easter I bought these little ceramic eggs that opened in order to put small items inside. A while later I got an advertisement in the mail and a company was selling these eggs for$19.95.

I buy a lot of cleaning supplies and household items there too. Anyway ladies......I have a stock of things that I have either bought at this store or at other stores when they were on sale. I would love to have someone to begin giving some of these goodies to.

Let's think on it and decide the theme. I am in.

Thanks for posting the picture of the German Shepherd Starzz. They are such beautiful dogs. Nice house and Christmas tree too. Yep, I love pictures too.

Betty, I think that you asked about the movie we watched during the snow yesterday. I wasn't exactly disappointed, but it was certainly not of the quality that Robin Williams used to be in. It did have a good theme though. Robin's character was a Priest who conducted Pre Marital Counseling classes. Participants had a whole list of problem issues that they had to face in order to pass the course. Some of those predicaments the young couple was in were really funny though. We laughed quite a bit.

LAter, after my shower or during the wee hours of the morning I will tell you my thoughts on "A Beautiful Mind." It is almost a ten year old movie, but we just got around to seeing it last night.

Ya'll be good.

Ruby

Victoria Harbour, ON

Ruby, Beautiful Mind..am sure I've seen it..remind me what it was about again please??? Well if you got a few laughs out of the movie, it's worth a viewing..

Shar..I'd like to participate..would be kind of neat now wouldn't it... enjoyed the few I was on, just sorry the other ended badly..

Carol, laughing at your post (SORRY) think you better just visit the breathing things...stay with the plants...now I on the other hand am great with animals but kill plants...so we do make a team...

Roger and I had 2 sheppards, 1 St. Bernard, one 1/2 spaniel and 1/2 poodle, called is a Spoodle and now Sailor...love coming home to the animals, they all show affection when I get home, but you are right...if I want to go away even for an evening or weekend or holiday, it's a big to-do to get a pet/house sitter..so have to weigh the pro's and con's I guess...for the amount I travel or go away, I'll stick with the furries...

Love the photo Carol..beautiful home..also enjoyed yours Gita...

Well I've been foiling, trying to get the stained glass piece finished but am tired...thought I'd enjoy a bathe, getting some garden books/watching t.v. and getting a good night's rest so that tomorrow for my new class I'll be rested...

Might come back to check up on you all if I can't sleep..lol...so don't be surprised..

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

MY gosh you ladies move fast! lol...I thought I was hyper

So Betty, really only 13 hours to ON? There were many times I was very close to the Canadian border, traveling when I was younger but never did go there

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I am sorry I did not get around to posting pictures of some of my paintings sooner. I started uploading them and then all kinds of things started popping up. I ended up having my photoe on 2 different sites (somehow???) and I started writing the descriptions while I was still in the "prevue" mode. etc.....When glitches like this happen--I give up. Have NO patience to mess around with things if I do not know what i am doing.....
SO! I waited until my daughter came bu at around 5PM. I had a list of "HELP ME!" stuff for her to attend to.

Now--everything is where it should be and I can post. Just wanted you all to know this. I ONLY painted for 4 years--2 sessions a year of 10 weeks each (1974-1978) as part of an "Adult Ed. Classes" in a church basement. I did enjoy it and my natural artistic talents came through royally. I always used a picture or a calendar or a magazine to paint from, so I cannot claim anything as a true original. Oh, there were about 2 or 3 that were composites of many "samples" and one that I DO consider an original.
I KNOW that everything i did was really good! Very realistic. But I have never been to comfortable with a lot of praise. Just never knew how ro respond to it.......almost, like I wasn't worth IT!

SO, humbly, I will post some pictures of the paintings I still have home.

This was an early one--but nice. Sorry, the flash made it a bit washed out.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

These were a "series" of sorts. Did these from a calendar. I just hung then in my club room downstairs. They fit right in.

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

These two go WAY back--before i was even married. I worked in a Pharmaceudical research lab and spent my days running assay tests on cut open Guinea Pigs. A lot of free time in between--so I drew these. I uses colored artist pencils. These are Sparrow hawks.

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

This is kind of a whimsical one I did for my daughters when they were young. I did some others too, but this was the cutest.
I used children's Story Books for the picture ideas.

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

This is one of my favorites. I think the picture was in a national Geographic story about Jerusalem. Took me many, many classes to get all the brick and stone just so. It was hard--as I am a perfectionist at whatever i do.

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Moving on.............

This is a calm snowed in farm scene i did for my cousinn who is now long-deceased. My sisters and I went to the funeral to Oregon and we brought back a lot of her stuff as we were the only living relatives. Of course, she bequeathed me my painting.....

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

And--TADAH!!! Here are my Wolves!!!!
Everyone wants this one! This was painted from a cover of a National Wildlife Magazine.
I love it too......But, will give it to my daughter, Aina, who lives right here near me. Strange, that they do not want any of my stuff NOW--even though I beg then to take things so they can enjoy. Makes me wonder if they really want anything???? Why do they act like this????

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Richmond, VA(Zone 7a)

BEAUTIFUL paintings Gita!!! WOW!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

This is NOT done by me! This was done by my daughter, Aina, in the High School years or soon after. This is called "String Art". Do any of you remember it? You used tiny little pins and wound the string around each one--following a pattern. Not hardly any room for error! How would one ever "go back" to correct anything? SO meticulous!

Aina is also very talented and has done many beautiful things on her own. She has worked in several stores on the "visual" team merchandising everything. She has a lot of patience! I do not. Then again--talents can manifest themselves on different levels. Mine is not the same as hers--but she sure has talents.

OK! This it for the Gita Show for now. Thank you for encouraging me to share all this with you.

Good Evening!

Loved to see all your pups! They are just Handsom. Enjoyed the stories about them.
Always wanted to get a pup, but DH is at a firm NO...(isn't he mean LOL) Really it would be unfair as we do alot of traveling. So I will admire all of yours. smiles.

Thank you about my yesterday! So sweet of all you to cheer me on too. Wonder, ahhh, happy tears are the best. And it was movie like.

So glad you enjoyed your grandchildren.
Gita, your photos of your area made me smile. You know I do love the snow but only for a little while. Your pics made miss it. Also, wow the Tahitti sunset is spectacular.

Liz, sure hope you had a better day today. You'll probably go to bed really early tonight.
crossing my fingers for good night sleep.

Oh gosh Gilli, it was really good to see you post...I enjoy hearing about your days with the kids.
that baby wrap thing is pretty cool.

Ves, I thought I had a serious wood pile! Wow you got enough to last all winter. I love a afire in the winter...hmmm, think I'll start one up and curl up with something...don't know what.

Had to giggle on your post about not writing for a bit...I am the same way always checking to see who posts what. hahha, amazing anything gets done. Well, Hope you got everything ready for Ethans visit...have a wonderfully fun time.

Rachael, big smile on my face...I am sure you will be wonderful parents, when the time is right for you...I can't wait for the news, yep oh gosh you got lots of moms here that will make great cyber grannies and Aunti's...Thanks for that hug, made my day.

Well, was up late last night blabbing with the family. Got a bit of sad news. My nephew was diognosed as having Autism. To which degree, I do not know. However we kind of figured it, so they have been working with him already, and now know which direction that must be taken.
They will be taking some sign language classes, and for now they are using pictures to communicate with him. So it is quite challenging for them but one of the keys is Routine, routine,routine...When we saw them at Thanksgiving, I watched my Brothers interaction with him and I must say, he was inspiring. He has an incredible amount of patients, always has. Just makes me love them all the more.

OH...Round Robin within this thread sounds like a blast. Count me in...but can someone explain exactly how it works...sounds different from a trade.

Betty, you are making good with the stained glass? Will look forward to seeing it when you are done. Enjoy your garden books and good rest.

Hiya Tropi...What you been up to?

Where's Cat? haven't seen in a few days either...guess you are busy, hoping you are well.

Ruby, We love to share pictures so was glad to see you Lucky. Hows your little princess? Maybe you already covered this but, do you get to see her often?

Carol, Had to have loud giggle on your array of pets. Guess maybe you could just have pictures of pets...You didn't mention a bird. They are very easy to care for and make great company.

...Shar I think you should go for the pup.

Well I am off for a bit.

...just chasing boxers shorts...lol...I wish, or I wouldn't be here on a Friday night...teehee

So, you wonderful women with all your wisdom can laugh at me for this one. One of my very closest friends and I have been reminsicing a lot, we've known each other and been friends since I was 14, 15. We've been thru a lot together and even there was a time where she.....cough...courted..one of my boyfriends when we were young but we talked about it and worked through all the trust issues (and I have a bunch) and we moved on

While strolling down memory lane, I am now learning that basically every guy she ever knew I liked she had to go and ...cough...court...apparently the moment I left town! my gosh! one of them really hurt too when she said it....that guy wrote me letters for like two years and I introduced her to him ......sigh...women...lol

But so, I'm not mad at her for things she did over a decade ago, but I'd be lying if I acted like it didn't sting a bit. and no wonder I have trust issues, my gosh, she hid all that for years! Not to mention she's one of my few close female friends...now I feel like there's no one I can trust! lol...yes I have to laugh, I'm secure now and it doesn't really matter, but no wonder I have trust issues...lol

I have no manners, I really thought the stairway painting was eerily cool but I liked them all :)

Didn't end up going to bed, but am now....ended up foiling a few more pieces..want it out of my way so I can start "MINE"...

Gita, OMG YOU my dear are a true artist..now go get those brushes and start painting..you should never have given it up..Shar's the expert..Shar you tell her how wonderful her paintings are..and Gita..take the praise, works fantastic..Shar you should be doing a show for her...
A true artisan...can't believe you kept this from us..because of my decor the geraniums are my favorite...

Now for sure I'll not show you these pencil crayon wolves...not sure why I'm going..only grace saving would be to get a blizzard..so cross your fingers...wonder who talks me into doing these stupid things..

Trop, get those bags packed, you and your daughter and come up for a long weekend...who knows, might be early summer and I can take you boating and show you God's country...

Judy, prayers for your nephew..I'm sure your DB and SIL will cope..sounds as though they are quite a couple and the patience of Jobe...Kyle has a touch of Aspergher Syndrom..not sure of spelling, but he is fine..it amazes me, his grades are top notch, he can tell you about anything.he's more an adult than most adults..but I do see when he gets excited the hand movements and jumping up and down..he's 100 per cent when 1 on 1...they did have him on medication at one time, but have taken him off...however, at times when not in a routine atmosphere he can get to be quite a handful..he loves coming here and I think it's because of the routine and knowing I don't put up with any guff...rules and regulations..don't I sound like a drill sergeant..but he seems to do so much better in a controlled atmosphere...so, perhaps your nephew will be on the lower scale and be much as Kyle...whatever scale he will be, he'll be love...Auntie Judy will make sure of that!

Was tempted to go back and look at all the photo's posted today but will wait till morning..know what usually happens is I get engrossed in a photo and think...let's have a closer look and pooff...my post is lost in cybre space....

For the 2nd time this evening I'm off to bed..

Trop, just make sure you don't invite her too often...old habits die hard...wouldn't want her to test the sweets...
