What do you miss most in the winter?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Okay - time to turn up the heat!

Hotter than Paris, for sure!

How quickly these threads go in the gutter! LOL
Polly, I really love your foxgloves and iris's. Are those Hydrangeas yellow? They are lovely!

Victor, that Scabiosa is stunning!

Yank, what did you end up making with that lovely specimen?

I miss these guys too.

Yes, I forgot to comment, Polly. Very nice! Is that Hydrangea 'Limelight'?

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Where is Al with his beautiful dahlias, flax, and coneflowers?

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I miss hummers.

Thanks Celeste. Here's another.

Wow - great shot, Deb!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Victor.
And butterflies.

Yes! Hummers! Nice job Deb!! I do miss them too.
Victor, what's thats one's name? I really like the color.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

They were all from a mix (plants, not seeds) from Graceful Gardens.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

And fawns. I barely saw this one in the brush.

Now you ruined it, Deb!

More butterflies.

What did I ruin?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

My reflective mood by posting the photo of the beast.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Awe, he's cute....just curious and maybe a little hungry.
Beautiful BB shots Deb!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

It's too cute to be a beast. It was in the park and not my garden though. I'm so sorry.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes, I was thinking BB shots...

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks Celeste!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

By the way, they do like viburnums!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Victor, I used to like you!

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

That's twice today, Deb!

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I'll make it up to you and look for road kill to get a pic of!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

They love apples tree's too, so if you have enough of them they shouldn't bother anything else.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I was dreaming about apple trees today, and then blueberries, then I read Victor's article.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Give me a few of your acres, Celeste, and I'm sure I could come to some understanding with them!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Now those rabbit above are missing, and I do miss them but....
I will finally get to see some of my lilies bloom and DL's that they ate the buds off last year.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Blueberries don't take much room. Apples can be work - even the 'resistant' ones.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

I've been wondering what to give up to put in a blueberry or 2. Does anyone have the self polinating ones?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

You should not have to give up anything - they only get a few feet high. The low bush - even smaller.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Very nice autum colors, too.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Great colors!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Yes Victor, I agree about the blueberries and they are very rewarding! I also meant to comment on your article, it was great and very informative. I even read it to DH very loudly..(he's 2 rooms from the PC). We have been looking for landscaping shrubs and tree's to put down back. I think I can find room for a "few" of these. Hee hee.
Also wanted to know if your a fan of Michael Jordan? LOL

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

What I was looking at today said 4x4 feet, and I really don't have room for that without moving something. I really have a small back yard, and so far DH doesn't like expanding to the front.

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

We have one blueberry bush and it's about 12 years old and nowhere near 4 x 4. From all I've read they just don't want anything growing around their root zone - no problem.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I have about 10 in all and they vary in size and shape, some are only 2ft. wide and 2ft tall.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

How about a nice dark daylily that holds it's color in the sun.

Or one so bright it rivals the sun?

Seattle Slew would match them!
