Here are a bunch of grackles getting ready for their Saturday night bath. "Everyone into the water!"

"Hey, can't a fellow take a bath in private?"

Here's a female grackle checking out the fellows.

And, here's a male grackle displaying his elaborate tail feathers for the ladies.

As I was taking pictures of the grackles in the tree, I discovered this ladderbacked woodpecker.

Back at home again, this little house finch was enjoying the last rays of sunlight.

All-in-all, it was a great day for birding.

Good morning! I have a nice pic of a Mourning Dove and a Red Bellied Woodpecker. The RBW was trying to get rid of the MD by scaring her but it wasn't working. She held her ground! The RBW ended up leaving instead.

Here is a pretty little goldfinch with a sunflower seed in his beak. At first I thought he had a deformed beak but realized it was a seed. lol

It's a crabapple Deb and nope, they don't eat them at all - the berries stay on all winter. It's just for "cover" otherwse, they won't come to the feeders.

Tangerine peels - just hoping to attract something different....sure wish there was a bit more diversity in the backyard!

Hi! I love seeing all your beautiful birds. Great pictures! Cold here today, windy, sunny and in the low 30's.

Here is another of the RHW and two Cowbirds. Those cowbirds swarm in and try to run all the other birds off. :-(

Edited to add that actually there are three Cowbirds there. Two males and one female.

LOL, I see Red-headed Woodpecker is giving them the evil eye!

I finally am getting some regulars at the bird feeders, and it is so much fun to watch them. My dad put a good pine beam up against the fence so I could hang some feeders on it. I've got 2 BOSS feeders and one with whole peanuts and a fruit/nut mixture. And a suet feeder on the top. I thought I was just getting the normal sparrows but I borrowed my parents' binoculars to get a closer look and was I wrong! Goldfinches and house finches galore! Also sparrows, a couple chickadees, and mourning doves. I am having a ball watching them and looking them up in my new ID book I got for Christmas.

I wish my camera could get a little clearer pics, but with the digital zoom they always look like that.

I've been stacking the stuff I've been clearing from the yard and garden (branches and brush mostly) in the area behind the feeders, they seem to like it.

Here is my newest feeder, it took a little while for them to check it out but now they seem to love it!

And here is a large collection of mourning doves that stopped by one morning. I couldn't believe how many there were.
