Looks like a nice set up Aquatic_Planter. Be sure to keep us updated.

Yeah the main reason they are all there is because the most light is reached there. Eventually I will be getting nicer pots and pot everyting and spread them around the room. These are cuttings from my moms plants as well so hopefully they do well.

I like starting my plants from cuttings and having the fun of growing them myself. Used to be that you could buy real small plants to grow yourself; now they want to sell plants that are huge to begin with. Good for you taking the "do-it-yourself" approach. Good luck with all your plants.

I like Java moss and Java fern most as far as aquatic goes. Right now I have none. Although I have 4 freshwater tanks. 2 5's one 10 and one 20 high. Got to get a 55 for my 2 clown loaches though.

Thanks NL. I always take trimmings from friends tanks and let them grow from scratch so I want the same attempt here with emersed plants as it hasnt failed me.

Tommy-Java Ferns will be great pieces to any tank. And due to many varieites you can make a "Java Fern Only" Tank and have many different species in it.

I've had Java ferns, I always get too much algae though eventually....

The lighting is too high or you have too many nutrients going into the tank :)

Thanks! Will keep that in mind for next time!

If you plant more in your tank it should help soak up the extras, I did this when I added c02 and never get a speck of algae. I also add a tsp of peroxide per 5 gallons of water when I trim my plants to kill any algae that might try and grow.

Well I gave up growing them a while back, too much of a pain to me. Too much work, etc. I got a really green thumb but not when it comes to water plants.....

Awe :-(.
