Relationships forum interest?

Well put!

My one stop on the internet pretty much! I've never seen a place I could ask any and all questions because there are enough forums (almost *wink) that you can fit it into something.

I'm in favor of a relationships forum. At DG we know how to talk to each other. We sometimes share a lot about our relationships. Just because it's online doesn't mean we don't become fast friends. I can talk about most anything here on DG, why not a forum for relationships of all kinds?

I wouldn't dare say it couldn't or wouldn't work. However, there is always that "hearing one side" of a problem to consider. From personal experiences with friends, I think we all know that whether it be the troubled or the trouble maker, both give very convincing "I'm the victim" arguements. If the threads purpose is to seek or give advice, seems risky to me.

As one who has started many a thread that has gone off topic, which worksfor me, Parking Lot is already a place where folks can bring up non-gardening issues and ask for outside opinions, often having to do with the gamut of relationships. I've had such a thread backing me up for some months now, therefore I'm not sure an entirely new forum is necessary. I would certainly like to learn more about working well with others, as it seems to be my greatest deficit - I'm better as an independent, too.

I think if you start a thread anywhere with the "rule" that you want to stay on topic, posters will respect it, and also that it's usually easy to nudge people back on topic - or even shove 'em ;-) because it's your thread.

(cactuspatch, Four Agreements would interest me...I'd see it in Parking Lot as I don't look at the book forum; it's more philosophy than relationships, yes?)

Interesting that there are two query threads on this forum now for similar topics.

I am against a relationship forum. I may not ever use something like that, but I care about others, and I am associated with fellow gardeners on these forums. I want to remind everyone that anything written here is subject to be read by people all over the world, long into the future. Our circumstances may change but words written here don't. Like uploaded pictures they will always be there. I think we give out enough personal information on this site now without inviting it on a relationship forum. Just my two cents.

That seems to make sense Sheila.

4 Paws, yes it is more philosophy. I read it every few months so will post the next time I reread. Kind of busy now to keep up with one! LOL!
