Taming the wild garden part 2

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Pixy, you have been working tooooo hard! (I can't stop laughing, husband is going to come give me that 'oh, you're reading DG' look - terrier give me that look too).

Yes, I should really be in the hot bath by now. But with Katie's reference to my fairy door, I had to pull out the old fairy garden photos. Those were taken a couple of years ago. I really do put these little things in the garden, but they are so small, people don't see them unless they really look.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Please, you have got to go meet 'men down the road' - they are going to love you!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Still love the door. It has an 'Alice in Wonderland' feel about it. As though, if I were small, I could squeeze through into another world.

Love your scenes, Pix. I can just see Magic carefully lifting the little gnome people out, walking over to the corner and sitting down and devouring them. I think I can only have things that are anchored. Dork . . .

Pix- I love your gnomes and thier stories. You should write a book and use your photo's then I can read it to my future children. :0)

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I am still laughing Pixy. My DW is also, because she says you have me pretty well pegged. Hey do you have any "Underwear Knomes". Until Southpark my mother never believed me when I lost something.
I have a picture of a fairy hanging out by the red annual.

Sofer- I can't find the fairy. Is this a pic like where's Waldo pics?

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Pixy ~ just read about your gnome family. What a great way to start the day, thanks! Really inspired me to get out there and make a faerie/gnome home for those who may wander my way. Guess I REALLY hafta get dressed now, huh?

Buckeye, AZ(Zone 9a)

Pixy...lol ...I am sure your story about the young gnomes is very similar to one side of my family genes. It is true the worlds are parallel. I only wish there was a place to send the youngsters on the wrong path...like a back to Mother Earth retreat to relearn the ways of the elders.

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Only people who believe in Fairies can see them. LOL

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Sofer - what red annual is that?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

I don't know but it was a texture I liked that went well with the hollyhocks. They grew huge!

That is amaranth. It is very cool and comes in many shapes and A fwe other colors. They are easy to grow from seed

Sigh. Rachel, I cannot believe you fell for that one! Have i not taught you better than that? That's the oldest trick in the book! Sofer was just WAITING for someone to say 'where's the fairy'. He's cracking up and completely rewarded for that behavior. Besides, it was Soferdig posing that photo. Would a fairy show him/herself there?

By the way, Soferdig, no, I do not have underwear gnomes because there is no such thing. Those are fairies who steal your things. Gnomes are solid and reliable, not mischevious and devious. Fairies. Definitely.

Laurie, when I meet 'men down the road', I will have to do an entire thread just for you! Oh yes, I will love the men down the road. I feel their elven energy from here.

Carla, you have the right idea. Beings need to have purposeful lives.

I have germinated some seeds for one called 'elephant head'. I tried it last year, but I over watered. It's a common mistake for me. There is a really tall variety that has a bright orange seedhead that looks really cool, too. I might plant some in place this year to see what they do.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yeah, I'm doing amaranth. It just looks like fun.

Sof - shame on you. Thank goodness we have Pix who knows how to keep you in line.

I, too, am dying to meet the guys around the corner. I just know I would find them entertaining.

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

Maybe we could all go over together to the "art house" with baked goods and casseroles as the "Welcoming Committee." An Edie McClurg type of character comes to mind ~

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Pixy you are wrong. I CAN see the fairy! You need to watch the movie "The never ending story" then you will understand. And I also believe in "underwear gnomes" though I have never seen one. I have I think heard some a couple of times. Cause right after when I opened my drawers for drawers there were none.
I have another fairy picture but I haven't gotten permission to show it yet. You can really see the fairy even if you don't believe.

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

I can see her...really ~

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

Ahh now all is good. The fairy will remain here in my garden.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Everyone should believe in fairies. Fantasy is my favorite thing. I read them all and I know they are there.

Port Angeles, WA(Zone 8b)

She's young...didn't notice wings, though? Still waiting for the bell?

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

You can see this guy. This is Garygong, tinkerbell's cousin.

Quite the rakish, yet somewhat devilish looking little imp! Bet he makes the she-faeries swoon!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Prankster for sure. Gotta love those bad boys.

Union, WA(Zone 8b)

Garygong! I'm on the floor dying.

I do remember The Never Ending story. My kids loved it. Better watch out making fun of fairy names, though! Gnomes you can get away with teasing. They have excellent humor and love word games. Fairies try to get in on the joke, then don't know their own power. Plus, they get ticked off really easily if they think you are poking fun at them. But since you love animals and you are kind to the environment, they will likely give you the benefit of the doubt. If you lose something tonight or tomorrow, we'll know what happened! :)

Kalispell, MT(Zone 4b)

"Garygong" is proud of his name. Being a man fairy he appreciates the grandness of his name while standing for a family photo next to little "tinkerbell". You have to know the whole tinker family. All the girls have names like "fannyflute", "cherichimes", "heatherharp" and when they named their first son "tinytim" no one respected him. He became too submissive and his voice never got deep. So they moved on to more masculine names to continue to procreate their species. "bobbaritone", "kirkkettledrum", "tomtuba" and voila the family name lives on.

Bobbass . . . LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

LOL! Excellent! I'd post something about size, but I wouldn't want to get deleted by the post police.

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

You mean the one that got away?

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I just got home and having a ball reading this, you to are good.

Enjoyed enjoyed - made being back in work land tolerable - although I breath a sad air, it is glorious again today, and I am wasting my day at workwork!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Yeah, you don't get our Presidents' Day, do you? :-) Of course, this is the first year I've worked somewhere where I get Presidents Day off. Usually the period between New Years and Memorial Day is pretty starved for holidays.

It's beautiful here, too. Sunny and relatively warm for the last couple of days.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

And a gorgeous FEBRUARY day. Rain returns this week, sigh...

But I am most thankful for a day with sunshine & being able to hear the birds celebrate, too! MANY & LOTS of Birds!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Bees! I saw Bees! And Goldfinches!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I have a new friend her name is Laurie

Beees!!! I just heard that the price of Ben and Jerry's was going up because of the bee disappearance. The are making a new flavor this year with Bee in the name to bring attention to the problem. What was crazy is that the news channel didn't pick up the bee story and go with it following that.

Ladies and gentlemen, save your pollinators!!

I spent the afternoon in the yard working and man am I sore. The shotweed is out in full force. Best get to it before it shoots little seeds at you.
