Taming the wild garden part 2

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

varies with traffic, but usually under 2 hours.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

That's not bad since you only have to do it once a week each way. We could get you a little trailer to put your mixer on and you could pull it with your Porsche in the parade! I can just see you and Till's; windows down, flowers in your hair, waving to the crowd like prom queens! What a sight that would be!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

That sounds like fun LOL

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

I have a very smart cat, She thinks she can read. LOL

Thumbnail by tillysrat
Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

She probably can and she probably tell's you what she has been reading but to us it just sounds like meow, meow, meeooooow!

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

Are there tabs or folded corners on the catnip pages in the garden catalogs?

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Probably bite marks or holes, she might think they are scratch and sniff pages!

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

She doesn't think she can read, she knows she can! She just doesn't talk about it alot.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

I see ALOT of garden catalogs under that cat, looks like the stack next to my spot on the sofa!

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

methinks it's a plot...

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Yep the plot is how can I, mess up moms office MMMMM
If I find her with a pencil in her paw, then I will have to hide the catalogs. She is sitting on one, OOOno

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

watch out for "starprints" Tills!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Anyone want a cat, she may cost me to much, HA HA

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

See if she has marked the catnip & grasses pages...

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Looking
She is setting right next to me, in her chair, better be careful not to let her know I'm looking, hate to get scratch.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Funny!

Woodinville, WA(Zone 8b)

Too funny!!

Rach, this is my latest chainsaw project - I've been working on this for the past couple weeks down in the wild garden - have to admit to having hefted a few too sleepers this weekend, I can hardly turn my head - I have no idea why it has made the muscles right at the base of the skull so stiff, but sheesh - but, they are moving on. After they are in place, I will get out the trusty cardboard and then fill the steps with wood chips. I thought they would look good as part of the wooded area, and they can be renewed easily each year.

this is my gift to husband who has a tendency to go sliding when he comes down here. Must get him some shoes with traction. It doesn't look very steep in this picture, but a wheelbarrow has to be pulled up it, you can't push the incline.

this is what it looks like from below - the last set of sleepers isn't in place yet. I think I have another 6 steps to go.

WoW Laurie thats alot of work, and you just gave me a idea for woodland, not so steep as that, I think I'll do it with rocks, see where the piece of wood is, that slops down to the lawn been wondering how to connect it.

I think that would be wonderful - that piece of wood can even be the first step, and then use stones for the next - one thing to keep in mind is to make sure what you are using is heavy enough not to move when you walk on them - my sleepers are really heavy - right at the edge of what I can lift, and then I peg them in place driving in two wooden spikes in front of them (on the down side) I have used almost 18" spikes and sunk them to be level with the step, so almost 10" is driven in. A good club hammer is all you need, and a bit of patience.

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Going to do it, suns peking out going to try out my new overalls, and get some work done outside.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Good woman - enjoy. And take a thermos with you! I always find it helps the thinking.

Olympia, WA(Zone 7b)

Tills have DH take a pic of you in your new duds and show us! Laurie, I love the steps, they flow so nicely with the look of the wild garden. I think the woodchips will do just the trick!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

Okay he just told me that to, how funny
Went out this morning and worked in woodland for hours and the only thing that was cold was my feet, so we went to town and I got my boots, not the ones I wanted they only came in little girls sizes, I have small feet but not that small.
there where fur lined and pink.
So I settled for these. ( will get a pic of the whole outfit)

Tilly, you are so cute!!!! As is that darling baby . . . and your fur babies, of course!!!

Laurie, I am positively in awe . . . wonderful wonderful!!!

I just now happened upon this thread and had a ball reading it - such ingenuity and creativity! I have none at the moment (sometimes I do, just now right now). When life settles down, I'll share the "step" area that I have, too - I really hadn't figured out how to do it . . . now I'm getting the idea!

Poulsbo, WA(Zone 8a)

OOOO Murmur
Thanks, I think I look like the old farmers daughter, not the words my DH said, but warm and happy LOL

I will stress the fact that I will pray all goes well tomorrow LOL and the heavens above will know the answer to all are prayers.

Mary,
Your darling blue "gnome hat" makes the outfit, I love it! I'm just waiting for your little gnome gardening team to come strolling out from behind one of the trees! Your boots look very fuzzy and warm! Ester looks like she is done with entertaining and is ready for bed. Tyler looks like we wants the attention! I'm sure he is trying to tell his dad "hey I'm cuter than that baby!"

thought I had 'watched' this thread, but somehow I missed it. Great boots, Tills! Very cozy looking. With that many people in the house, I would prefer being out in the garden, I think.

The blue hat is a definite 'go'. It reminds me of a pink and white one that I bought for my daughter several years ago. It was shaped like that, but had little fur ears on it, like a bear. I believe I might still have it if I dig in the front closet. That would be a great gardening hat now that I think of it.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

I agreeeeee, the gnome troups have a new leader! Why, dear girl, do you not organize that troup indoors out to do some raking and removing! All those hands going to waste! But warm tootsies at last! Love the photo Tills, and love the outfit - stamp, approved! Boots, stamp, approved.

Murmur, awaiting steps photo. Space has been reserved. fingers crossed for some relief for Steve - good luck. xo

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

oh find it pix - a must with the bumble bee boots.

Livermore, CA(Zone 9b)

Tillysrat - those overalls will just keep getting better and better ! Awesome picture... warm & happy is always good. Oh, that baby ! She's a keeper, so sweet.

Burwash Weald, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

In that box of Heidi's did you come across linnaea borealis (american twinflower) or mitella caulescens (slight stemmed miterwort). Both native americans, both located in the PNW. Seeds would be much appreciated.
