Ahem Isn't Patriots' Day a national holiday? Here, it's a reason for more sales and The Boston Marathon! (And it will live in ignominy (is that the right word?) as the day DH broke his back...) It has nothing to do with the Boston New England Patriots - more like the other way around.

Carrie--Joking here. I know the football team is named after the historic events and not vice-versa. But it is a MA. holiday only as far as I know.
I think both your holiday & your football team were too macho to call themselves the Minute Men, which would be more historically fitting.

I think you are correct, Dave. Patriot's Day is only observed in Mass. as far as I know.

It's true that many people here call it "Marathon Day" instead of Patriot's Day. My dh works in the town of Hopkinton, where the marathon begins, so he always gets that day off.

I think MA has the most days off of any state (I dimly remember from when i was a worker bee, before I became one if the idle poor). (And what musical is that from "when the idle poor become the idle rich"? I'll ask my mother.)

Well - I for one have a dilemma. I'm a Giants fan, but if the Giants aren't in the running, I'm a Patriots fan. I guess I will be doing alot of cheering and won't be disappointed with the outcome.

Hey, Bay Staters, did you hear about the big pre-Super Bowl rally at Foxboro on Sunday? It starts at 10:00 and the players show up at 11:00. They leave Monday for AZ. I'm tempted to go!

This is taking forever to load up - I can't imagine what dial-up would be like. Maybe Victor or Dawn would like to continue the birthday celebration on a new thread?

I will leave that up to Mr Victor since I don't know how to do it myself.
