I agree with Carlin on both counts.
Happy Birthday to Victor and Meeeee!!!!
George Carlin cracks me up. Speaking of chemically dependent water hogs, we've got two golf courses out my way that are quite interesting, check this out-

So what is the stroke penalty for hitting wildlife?
Birdy.
Bye, Bye, Birdie!
didn't rob lowe do that a few months back?
I don't golf and sort of equate the sport with watching paint dry. Never could understand why so many people like to chase around after a little ball. I've been to the ThunderHawk golf course to take a look-see at their blue bird trails. The design is superior and although the greens are sprawling, they integrated the wild life areas into the recreational areas of the property quite well. All species of plants are native and most were of local genotype so that's a big plus for the local fauna that's been getting starved out lately. Many areas where critters can lay low during the day while all the people chase their little balls around while sipping adult beverages.
Forgot to say that the link was great, Lauren. Hope the concept catches on.
Me too. You can drive by there at times and see groups of children dotting the prairie area of the property which is exhilarating to me just seeing kids out there on a golf course of all places using it as a great big outdoor classroom. The epitome of multi-tasking properties. Kind of nice that it's a public golf course too and that it's owned by the Forest Preserve District so it's well staffed.
I don't want Pirl to get black spot!
Have no fear, Dave, since I take a Bayer every morning. That does help with black spot, right?
At my age I'm more concerned with root rot.
Cute, Pirl! Watch those wet feet!
Funny Pirl!
I used to worry about root rot....but that's another story.
Today I have to stay inside because I'd further self-destruct with all the rain.
Today we went to a wood carving show and juried exhibition. Awesome creations! One man had a table of beautiful wooden cremation urns. They made me think of this thread and the discussion of cremation or not. I took the man's card.
Keep it away from the ash tray.
No ash trays here!! LOL
Oh my!!! What have you folks done to Victor's and MY Birthday thread?!?!?! LOL What a riot!!!
Personally I think we should be be celebrating our Birthday's - so Victor what are you sending me for my Birthday???
I'll let you know if we keep the thread alive until then!
No no no Victor - I like to celebrate my Birthday all month long - I feel I am that special :)
I think we should do it all year since Harper is on her fourth month now!
Good point! Lucky duck she is!!!
Reading all of this, I can't wait for more birthdays!!
We are an interesting lot, are we not?
It's just one continuous NE birthday!
Dawn - You should, of course, keep celebrating your birthday......Why stop at the end of the month??? Happy Continued Birthday.....to you and to Victor!!
Thank you! I'm adopting Deb's approach so I'm thirty-fifteen.
...a good number!
I am literally just a baby around here LOL I don't need to fake my age hahaha!!
I do agree with you DonnieBrook - I think I should celebrate all year round - too bad other's won't keep buying me gifts LOL
I actually stole that from Drew Barrymore from the movie Fever Pitch when she turned twenty ten.
My birthday's in May - isn't it time to get started? LOL (JKOC*.)
*my new, patent-pending acronym, Just Kidding Of Course.
xx, Carrie
Debilu - I sent friends four sweet sixteen cards for their birthdays. It brings back memories of the good old days times four.
I don't think age 16 was my "good old days". Maybe my "wicked, younger days," but "these are the good old days." (who sang that - these are my forgetful old days!)
Although, Pirl, that is a very sweet idea, may I borrow it?
x, C
I think I'll hold out at two twenties and a ten for a while. Pirl, send me about 12.5 of those cards of yours. That should cover me.
Totally off topic but I think we just might have a shot at turning this thread into a Happy Valentines Day Thread and then right on into a Happy St. Patricks Day thread and who knows from there what with Easter,Tax Day, Passover, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day....
I'm up for it! Do we get to tell all our love stories again? No, we already did that once on this exact thread!
Everybody probably knows this, because everybody's from the North East (only difference is where we're North East of) BUT,,,,, in the City of Boston, there's no school on St. Patrick's Day. They call it Evacuation Day, but it's really so all the kiddies can watch the St. Patty's Day parade! Which is a major big deal around here.
xx, Carrie
Happy Birthday early, Carrie. I know I'll get distracted by watching all the threads and I'll miss your real birthday, so this way I'm covered!! LOL
Pirl - I love that idea of sending the appropriate number of sweet 16 cards....that is very clever! Got a good chuckle about that one!
My 16th year was wonderful.........first love, yadda, yadda, yadda!
Great idea Pirl for the sweet sixteen cards!!
Thank you, Louise, you're very sweet! And you're covered, lol. About now I need to start think of myself as my future age so I'll be able to answer those neuro-psyche eval questions (what year is it? who's the president? start at 100 and subtract by seven...) without slipping up. x, C
Wow! Bostonians get St Patrick's day off?!
Plus they get a day off for their football team, right? Patriots' Day
And someday they will get the opening day of the Big Dig off!
