I have Royal Palm right outside my condo. Many look like picture, very narrow at top. Are standing in planters 5x5.
What is problem?

Royal Palm malnutrition.
I would suggest that they are either starved of water due to being in container, the sun and breeze can dry containers out very fast, also the soil within the containers may be useless now as all the nutrients could be depleted from the soil, is there any way they could be put into the soil as in removed from the containers, that way the roots will be able to go search a wider deeper area to reach some water, it would also allow you to add nutrients to the soil at planting time, they look rather large to still be in a container, if you cant remove them from the container, another way would be to cut the bottom off the container and dig under them to let the plants sink into the hole you dig, the bottomless container would allow the roots to get down and out, good luck.
