Looks like a Red-shouldered Hawk GP.
DAILY PICS VOL 45
kaperc...........good luck on the quail.
Nice pics adel.
Can anyone tell me which is male and female. They look alike to me.
They (Sandhill Cranes) look alike to everyone! No sex differences in plumage. The males average slightly larger than the females, but (like with people) they overlap, so you can't tell reliably with a single pair.

Beautiful pics bsharf!!!
Thanks so much for posting them!
dellrose..you should have Bobwhite Quail in your area.
bsharf, nice shots of the White Pelicans .............
Beautiful photos everyone! I especially love the sandhill cranes. I've never seen a "real" one (just stuffed ones in a museum) but I'm hoping to find some this year. They supposedly come up here for the summer . . .they are just gorgeous!
Here is one I took a few weeks ago. This is the Mississippi River in Monticello MN. This is actually someone's backyard-this wonderful woman receives funds from donations and the DNR to feed the waterfowl all winter. The water stays open because there is a nuclear power plant just slightly upstream that drains warm water into the river. It is mostly a project to support the restoration of Trumpeter Swans, but lots of ducks and geese gather here as well. The swans are beautiful-and noisy. The lady usually starts feeding at around 11am every day (she has a trailer full of corn that has a conveyor shute that carries the feed to her backyard-she then hand carries buckets of feed down to the river's edge for the birds) and the amount of noise is amazing!. There is a little park next to her house that is set up as a viewing area. Last year, the power plant had to shut down for repairs for the entire winter and the river froze solid-thankfully this year everything is up and running again.

Wow....this is for the birds!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it great to see some that you've never seen in your area before. They say these red breasted nut hatches have not been in our area since 1985. I'm lucky enough to still have them here eveyday! Gonna work on getting them to eat peanuts out of my hand.
There was an article in the local paper that someone in the area was able too. They are not afraid and very friendly. Has anyone been successful?

Hi Mary Ann, Nice pic! We have had one member that had a photo of them hand feeding RBN's.

Happy new year, birdsters! Love the pics!
Grassmussen! Just wanted to let you know your redpoll pics are some of the best I've found on the Internet! Sunday I was trying to identify a bird at our feeders thought to be a red poll for the County Christmas Bird Count and I wish I had seen your picture then!
I wouldn't have made such an embarrassing probably wrong ID for the Christmas Bird Count! Now I think I mistook a house finch for a red poll, although I'm still not completely sure--- and they sent an experienced birdwatcher over today to try to verify since a redpoll apparently is rather rare here...of course, no birds to speak of were around today...
LOL, Just so theres no confusion for others heres the New Thread.
