Did you notice on the amazon page there was a 'global report on marketing shooting sticks...' priced $795! How many of those do you think they sell?
Pix - I am waiting to see.... and the idea of you and rach climbing out of Mantruck with your trolleys - I'm grinning already.
Patron Saints
Garden cart, large flowery hat....and roller shoes??? (Do they come in "our" sizes? So bummed that I didn't have those when I was a kid)
Pix, when you go to B and D Lilies ask them about being on the fall sale list. I go and get lily bulbs for anywhere from 50cents to $3. the same as you pay big bucks in the spring. they skipped last year because of remodeling but should have it this fall. Jim
great tip Jim I will e-mail them. I love Lilies. The grocery store has had them in and oh they smell so good waiting in line. Two of the ladies hate them and were pissed that susan the flower lady even ordered them. Life is so short. I can't beleive that there is a human not loving lilies but there are 2 in kingston. Heidi P.S. Jim you display area is looking good.
Susy- They do make "heelies" in grown-up sizes, I want a pair but can't justify $60 bucks for a pair of shoes that I will probably break a bone or two in! My 8 year old nephew has a pair, he can really haul butt in those things!
$60? For those? Hmm. Yeah, I'm sure I'd be falling all over in them, too-and end up purple, too. They do look like a lot of fun, though. Maybe that'd be one of those crazy birthday gift sort of things...
I better wear my bike helmet if I get a pair, so when I crash and burn I don't crack my head open! I can just picture us Susy, rolling around the garden show, clinging to each other for balance, flowers flying everywhere!
I tell you when I was a kid I was a great roller skater. Used to jump over haybales in the barn. I could skate backwards, do shoot the duck the whole kit and caboodle! My best friend and I would drag my getto blaster and our skates up the ladder to the hayloft every weekend and would skate for hours! A few years ago one of my goddaughters had her 6th bday party at the skating rink, well of course Aunt Rachel had to skate. Ha, what a joke, I tell you friends it's not like riding a bike! You don't just remember! I'm taller, have weights on my front and backside and now biting the dust means that it's really going to hurt ! I spent alot of time skating near the wall as all of the 6 year olds went whizzing by my kneecaps!
LOL! I never was very good as a kid on old-fashioned roller skates. I tried rollerblading a while back while I was taking naprosyn for something. I fell on the same spot three times and had a bruise the size of a dinner plate-man, did it hurt!
With you two on Heeles, I'm glad I can't go, or I would be carry a sign saying
"Watch out for crazy ladies, Please step out of their way, Thank you"
Pause Bow and keep moving.
Love it
I love it Tilly, wish you where going!
Me too, so sad
I kinda feel like Laurie, We are the little bugs in your pocket and watching all that you see, we are there in spirit.
Yes you both will be there in spirit and our hearts.
I'm sorry, but I have to sign off now, I'm laughing so hard I think I'm going to wet myself! DH is standing in the doorway - said 'oh, DG' and walked away shaking his head - yikes. Tills you have to go just to put the sign out!!!!
Heidi, if the display area is ready, I better get making more spheres. I just made 3 to display at James Kelsey's. I made some smooth ones like you requested. they're harder to finish because they show every little flaw. but I'll bring both textured and smooth up, if that's okay. since you ladies brought up skating. you aren't aware that I've been Ice Skating for the last 5 years. Bremerton has an ice rink that was built 5 years ago. and I had to take my granddaughter, Julianne skating, because I wanted her to remember that she skated with her grandpa. I hadn't skated in 35 years. so I spent the 1st day hugging the rail. we went a few more times and I started to get better. well I wasn't hugging the rail quite as much. then I heard about a senior group that was skating 2 times a week and it was free, through parks and recreation. I like free! well I met the greatest group of seniors and one gave lessons so I learned how step by step. the oldest is 80 in the group. they seem to have forgot about how old they are. a couple of them snow ski also. and your question might be aren't you affraid of falling? well we don't fall that much and well I've had some minor ones, like when I bruised my ribs. ouch! but for the most part it's a lot of fun. Jim
Jim, That's great!
Jim,
Sounds like a fantastic group! I have nevered tried ice skating, I imagine it's more difficult that roller skating though, you have to balance on that skinny blade instead of four fat wheels!
I have to go on record as someone who is completely NOT ready to be seen as a stick wielding old lady in a funky hat! LOL! And I would NEVER push people aside just to get at lilies. Well ..almost never. Maybe a little nudge in their general direction if they stubbornly refuse to budge. But then whose fault is that, I ask you? Besides, my HD is making noises like he might want me to invite him to accompany me to the show, which would be lovely! He could run interferance for me and I would have a clear path.
Maybe I will make some leaves today. you are inspiring me, Jim,. I haven't had any time in the workshop in about 2 months.
I loved rolling skating growing up, we went all the time, was good at it.
Went Ice skating once, hit the ice the wrong way on my knee, never did it again.
but I'm glad you are injoying it Jim, I would rather be horseback riding.
I love the image of all these elders skating around in those flippy little skate skirts and tight fitting bolero jackets with just a nice sprinkling of sequins! And those spins! Go Jim!
Pix, no need for you to elbow with that hunky husband of yours - all he'll need to do is a gentle clearing of his throat - ah-hmmmm, and those ladies in line are going to look over their shoulders and fade away - ahhhhhhhhhhh. Excellent use of man power!
Laurie1, it's funny what you picture in your mind and what is real. we all wear long underware. and warm street clothes and jackets and gloves, I wear a hunters mask, to keep my ears warm. about the spinning, I haven't been able to, because it makes me sick to my stomach, but others do well. I do a few jumps, well 1/2 jumps. when we talk about singles, doubles, and triples. it's how many muscles spasms in out backs. just kidding. but there are some things we leave to the kids. Jim
Jumps!!! Jim, I'm impressed. I ice-skated as a child, being from Alaska. But we could never be out for very long as the temps were usually below 40 degrees. I can remember walking to a frozen-over gravel pit with my girlfriend as a pre-teen after dark, with no chaperones and nobody else there. We took her three-legged irish setter and had a ball. I can't believe that we got away with. But, just the same, we didn't do any jumping or true spinning . . .
LOL! I'll tell him you said so, Laurie!
When I was in highschool we lived in Massachusetts. Long, cold winters and cranberry bogs and hockey. I learned to ice skate trying to keep up with the boys playing hockey. (Back then I would have done almost anything to keep up with boys. Shameless!) Never could quite grasp the whole skating backwards thing, though. I remember one boyfriend trying to teach me to do so while holding a hockey stick. That must have been funny to watch. It's sure as heck funny to remember!
Pix, I can't imagine you being willing to go backwards - you are definately a 'more forwards' kinda gal! - but I can imagine you out there with all the boys!
And I am impressed Jim - I have to agree the spinning part would get to me too, but wow even half jumps! (Really chuckled about the spasms ) I am picturing 80 year olds doing those spins where the skater yanks their ankle up to their shoulders - hmmm, maybe with the help of a good hickory cane with a stiff curved handle!
Pix pix - you would be excellent at them!
Laurie1, I know it's hard to picture old people doing any ice skating. I was amazed when I first met the group. they're 30 year olds. trapped in 70 and 80 year old bodies. I was the youngest at 55 when I started. anytime I say I can't do something they say, well, I'm doing it, so can you. there are no excuses with them. Jim
Oh, Jim, I can imagine them doing it - and that is the pleasure!!!!!
