Where.....
I have been on horses all my life, but no tack, But I think we are talking about Hostas. not the furry ones.
Patron Saints
Tils- Check out Laurie's post #4399548 and open the hyperlink, then the horse comments will make sense.
Oh, no Katie! Carla is going to harness us up and drive us into town! Neehhehheheh (horse whinnying!)
Jim,
Thanks! Looking forward to it.
I have to say that I'd love to see this!
O Kay got it
I missed it somehow
That would be very funny to see you two, sneaking in that way.
Tills - you sound a bit disbelieving.
No not that at all, just got lost reading to many treads at the same time, and trying to ketch up and keep up. and then get them all mixed up. and still not get anywhere.
Does that make any sence?//
gang, are you going to the NW Garden Show in Seattle if Feb? also have we set a date for the trip to Dragon Fly Farms, Little & Lewis? I suggest maybe, late April, early May. Jim
I suppose it would be good to set actual (if tentative) dates for our field trips:
What about April 12 for your place, Jim, and May 10 for Dragonfly? Comments, other suggestions?
I am planning on going to the FGS, but probably only on one day of the weekend. Haven't decided yet which day.
Being a little dumb here, what is FGS?
I work to much need a life.
Oh. Uh. Sorry, just got lately - Flower and Garden Show. Didn't mean to mess with you, Mary . . .
I don't know what happened to what I had sent.
Having a malfunction with computer. And your not messing with me just having a brain dead moment. to many people here to keep my mind on one thing, KIDS
LOL.
Yeah - I only have the furry kind and that's enough to keep me distracted. LOL
Lets see
1 5 year old
1 4 month old
Their moma ( my neice 21)
1 40 year old ( my big baby, Son)
1 50 year old ( little brother)
And dont forget my DH ( the worst baby of the lot)
and not forgeting the 2 dogs and 4 cats
In a 14 X 70 ' mobile.
O forgot me
just to small
OMG. That's lotsa people. So nice to have family around, but it can be distracting. I forget, being single. It's just me, 5 dogs, 12 cats, 2 birds. I'm sure it's hard for you to imagine. :-)
Tills!!! Too many at one time - put them in tents!
Ohmigawd - I'm so excited! We are going to practically shake hands! (well, in my imagination - and after you read this you will know just how rich that imagination can be!)
I was just doing my seed list for Special Plants http://www.specialplants.net/index.html, and just before sending it off I was humming through the rest of her website and looking at where she is exhibiting/selling this year - She is going to the Seattle FGS! AND later in the summer she is going to Sarah Raven's Summer Plant Fair - which is literally at the top of our lane, and I always get free tickets because SR doesn't want to P@## off the neighbours!
so in my imagination it goes like this - you go visit Special Plants stand (and I think you should all go en masse to really get this going nicely), and smile at her, knowingly (no purchase necessary, but I have to say she does have a very nice list) - and I'll go along to her stand at Sarah Ravens, and smile at her - and there you go, we will almost have shaken hands. We are only one step away from meeting! (Do I know this woman who owns Special Plants? Nope, just order seeds from her - does she need to know that she is transmitting smiles - nope. She will just think 'mighty friendly city this Seattle', and in Burwash - 'strange grinning woman'). Excellent.
Now how is that for imagination - I think the faeries would be pleased with the logic.
Laurie - you are so full of imagination. But you're right - we'll only have 1 degree of separation then. And that's pretty darn close.
In our minds, we will have no separation at all! Brilliant, Laurie! We will have complete conversations with each other on another plane of reality and agree on the seeds we love and will purchase. We will compare lists and chat amiably about the possible combinations of plants. Our messages will travel faster than fast through a fold in time and space!
I plan to go this year, but I will go during the week. I cannot function well at that show on a weekend. TOOOO many gardeners in one place for me. I get tremendously overwhelmed. Plus, I like to have the best possible selection of goods.... If anyone else plans to go during the week, I am open to which day.
Edited to say: Actually, I will be going on opening day, Wednesday. Dan Hinkley will be speaking and I would like to hear him. I'll likely have to stand in line to get a pass for an hour before they start handing them out, but I'll do it.

Hey gang I started a thread about the Pacific Northwest Flower and Garden Show a few weeks ago, here is the link: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/801540/
Hope you can all make it! There is lots of great information on thier site http://www.gardenshow.com/seattle/index/index.asp
Here is the link to the seminar page: http://www.gardenshow.com/seattle/seminars/wednesday.asp
Here is the link to the seminar passes page: http://www.gardenshow.com/seattle/seminars/seminarpass.asp
The link to the exhibitors list: http://www.gardenshow.com/seattle/highlights/exhibitorTAbleA-C.asp
So I looked for Special Plants on the PNW Flower and Garden Show website, and they (Derry Watkins Plant addict & owner, Special Plants Nursery, Britain) are giving a seminar at 4:30 on Wednesday the 20th, topic: Unusual & Long-Blooming Plants the seminar is in the Hood Room, Dan Hinkley is giving his presentation in the same room earlier in the day at 1:45.
Ooh, I she has some lovely seeds on her website so I now have a list of 'wants'. BTW that link doesn't appear to be working for some reason, although I can't see why not. Let's try this one:
http://www.specialplants.net/seeds.html
Portable stool is a good idea Pix, does it fit in your granny cart?
This is realy wierd, I tryed to see Lauries link couldnt open it and posted right after Pix and lost everthing I posted. internet must of had brain F###
So start over It would be like holding hands and hugs so to speak. I would like to go but still havent opened the link up, might lose it again. Whats the Date?
It starts on February 20th.
That might be hard, get back to you.
Tills, for some reason the one I posted isn't working - but Pix's does (maybe the faeries thought I went a little too far) - I've never met/heard Derry Watkins talks (she lives the otherside of the country from me - and, I don't travel!) So I will wait to hear what you think - hopefully she will give a talk at Raven's - I love the idea even more of all of you going on separate days and grinning at her sending messages - this is too good. I'm so envious that Hinkley is going to be there - I think 2 hrs is an okay wait - besure you have someone with you one of you can hold the space while the other does a little reccie out, and then swap over - just besure you have two stools with you to prove that there are two passes needed - people in queques can get very touchy.
The one that are monopod are called 'shooting sticks' - the posh lot take them with when they go out with the guns (not exactly my cuppa tea - but there are a lot of shoots in the area) - those that watch bring along a stick and prop their fannies on them. If the ground is too soft and the fanny too, ummmm, generous it can be quite amusing.
Hope this link works - I'm not having a lot of sucess with this lately

sheesh, can you see why I prefer having friends in the pnw!! I just can't keep up with those hats!

I finally got it from Pixs tread, but my whole system when down with it, don't know what when wrong. But okay now ?s
That's to close to inventory at the store, And I am the lead person of the crew, So I wont be able to go. Rats I don't get any fun ###. I would of love to be able to record it and send it to Laurie. at least the good stuff.
I don't have fary's I have Gremlins LOL " Ha Ha"
Tills- I will take lots of pictures of the display gardens for you!
OOOH Thank you, I hate missing things. Lots and Lots of pics please, please,
will love you for ever.
We'll post an entire thread on the garden show, I'm sure. If you have gremlins, then ask your fairies to help keep them in line. They are simply unevolved, not devilish.
Yep, that's the ticket on that 'shooting stick'. But i have to have one that will not make me look old. I'm not ready for that yet. Frustratingly (is that a word?), I saw one at our local Goodwill thrift store a couple of months ago and considered getting it, but then didn't. I hate when that happens.
Pix,
Take some of that great paint you have and your imagination to it and you will look anything but old with it! You will be making a fashion statement and setting a new trend!
Rachel, between you and Laurie, you have the reframes covered completely! I gotta tell you though, my grandmother's walker was a shiny apple shade of red. It was still a walker. Bleh! But I will likely look for the shooting stick of some kind or other. No sense being obtuse about it. Guess I better start saving up for the show. B and D lilies will be a dangerous stop, for sure.
Hey the shooting stick would be good for parting crowds as well! I just remembered I have one of the granny carts too! I stashed it under the house when we moved in. It's a really old one, I got it for free when an art studio was closing here in Oly. I think I will have to give it a fresh coat of paint before the show!!!!! Should we have a painting party!
Hey Hold it
If you are going to use the "shooting Stick" you have to wear one of thoes funky hats too, Omy I can see Pixs doing this, "get out of my way" holding Stick with large hat one with flowers bigger than hat. to funny.
If it meant getting to the lilies faster, trust me she would do it! So would I!
