Hi there- I am forcing daffodils. It's my first time, and so far so good.
I'm just wondering if it is beneficial to the plant to change the water it is growing in.
forced bulbs- do I change the water?
Normally I would not change the water that the bulbs were in so long as the actual bulb is ABOVE the water level, a bulb is like the store larder for the plant therefore all the food and energy will have been returned to the bulb the previous year, you will not be able to use the same bulbs next winter by growing them in water containers as there will be insufficient food available for the bulb to flower again, so you either have to let the bulbs foliage die back naturally and only remove it after it turns brown, or, dig a hole in the garden and let them die down in the soil, replant them into the flowering position in the garden the following Autumn. good luck.
