I'm confused then--it sounds like you have sources that say the hardiness is different than what PF lists, so I don't understand why you can't report an error and include a few of the references that list the correct hardiness. Plant Files is created by user input, so the only way it's going to get better and more accurate is if people report the errors they find in there.

And as far as adding comments about a bad experience with a plant--I don't see how that could be interpreted negatively by anyone, when you add a comment you're just sharing your experience with growing the plant. I don't see how commenting that a particular plant didn't make it through the winter for you is going to rain on anyone's parade?

Unfortunately it's completely impossible right now to cause the search engine to search 3 characters rather than 4. There's a long answer as to why it is this way, but there's just nothing for it.
