#3 - garden under a blanket of snow
More Snow Photos!
Eleanor, those are beautiful!!! My favorites are the bench and the canal. Both are very inviting, even in the cold with the snow!! Stay warm!!
Just peaking in at your beautiful snow photos!! I'm from upstate NY, but moved my mother down here (So Carolina) last year to be near her sibs.
I miss the snow!!!!! Beautiful shots - thank you! :))
Beautiful, Eleanor!
Thanks!! I'm glad I went out early even though I was still in my jammies. The trees are losing their snow cover quickly. It really is pretty when all is calm and quiet and everything is covered in a thick blanket of snow! Eleanor
Burn - that looks like one of those feeders with the radio transmitter built in. Mine never worked!
Victor- you must of done something wrong, cause mine worked, It called that little tweedy. Your batteries must of been dead. :-)
Nice birdhouse Burn - architectural!
I stopped putting suet out because the starlings destroy it in 48hrs.
Burn - it 'worked' but was nothing but static. Probably better in a less crowded area like yours.
Burn - what a classy bird feeder! What's that pile of white stuff on top of it? LOL
Welcome, SCNewbie!! I hope your Mom is enjoying being near her sibs! Are you enjoying SC?? It was pretty nice there when we drove through last Thursday....how's the weather now??
It's been very mild so far this year, but I woke up to ice this morning. We've had rain for the last 3 days, then the temps must've had a sudden plunge last night 'cus even the little drops hanging under the deck rails were frozen solid. lol That doesn't happen much here, but we're supposed to be in the 20's for the next few nights here, and I hear they're getting snow in the mountains.
I'm not crazy about the heat down here, but the mom loves it, so here I stay. lololol The long growing season that comes with the heat is kind of cool, tho. ;)
Happy New Year to everyone!!
Happy New Year back atcha!!!!
It will be a glorious 2008, don't you think?
Louise, Thanks, but you didn't know, they call that Marshmallow fluff??? Some more was put on yesterday, and some will be added tonight. A real treat around here. LOL Must be the same one, that goes over to Grammyphoeb place.......... Your so fortunate to be able to enjoy gardening at this time of year.
Al - thanks for compliment, but you could have kept a few of those Starlings at your place, REALLY, now I'm stuck with them. I'm trying to out smart them, but they 're smarter then me. I WON'T give up, I'll keep trying.
So sorry Victor, about that static, I could have sent you a few starlings.
SCNewbie - This is for you
Ahhh, there is nothing as beautiful as newly fallen snow on a sunny morning! Thank you :))))
Your Welcome. :-))
Wow!! :)))) You got a lot last night - that tree is gorgeous!
Wow - I hope your garden doesn't suffer, Celeste. When did you last have this much at this point?
Victor, not sure really, I know it's been awhile. In all my complaining, I must confess that this is more like the winter's of my chilhood. I can remember being on top of the snow banks that lined our road. Being able to sit down and touch the light pole wires. Yes, I do mean the telephone/electrical wires that run from pole to pole. The year was 1969 and I have never forgotten it.
Very pretty!
It's only pretty to you cause you can see green grass!
Only three more months, Celeste!!
Thanks Victor! Eleanor
p.s. - could be four months!!
Was trying to be supportive and encouraging!
Eleanor is buried in snow like me, she's being realistic. Thanks for the optimistic point of view!!
Beautiful pics, grammyphoebe. :)) It looks like light, fluffy snow - must be pretty cold there, too, huh?
Snow is much prettier when you don't have to get out of the house to a job, school, dr, etc., I realize. The kids must be having a ball with the snow days, tho!!
I remember picking up my Mom & new little brother from the hospital when he was born in Feb 1958 - there were snow banks taller than the car on each side of the car - pretty impressive for a little girl! That was in the Binghamton, NY, area, not really a part of the "snow belt".
Thanks Newbie!! In 1958 I lived in Camillus, near Syracuse and I remember snowbanks that high. I remember one time we were out of school for about a week cause the plows couldn't get through the road. Snow had drifted across the road and filled in up to the tops of the snow banks on both sides of the house. School was in session but the bus couldn't get to us. Finally my father took us in the car through the fields and went around the drifts in the road to get us to school. I think they had just forgot about us. Eventually the roads were plowed out. They learned their lesson and the plows are up on our hill constantly now when it snows and don't let the drifts get filled in the road. I don't mind the snow and I don't have to go out to work as I'm retired. Hope you stay warm in the south - minus 3 this morning!! Eleanor
That is pretty cool Victor!
Thanks, Deb.
