It's official I'm a gardener!!!!

Toronto, ON(Zone 6a)

Hi guys! I'm so happy, I just had to share this news.

I only just started getting plants late August, after years of convincing myself that I was the equivalent of the grim reaper for anything green. Well, I now have some plants at home, my little office garden has grown from 3 pots to 11 of various types of foliage (scheff's, dracaena's, spath's, aglaonema's, jade, fittonia, warnecki, and coffea arabica) and so has my reputation -- 3 people have entrusted me with the care of their own plants while they are away over the holidays!

I feel so honoured, it's ridiculous! You'd think they'd asked me to bear their children, that's how sappy I am about this! LOL!!!

I couldn't have done it without my daily voracious reading of the forums and plant files on this site, not to mention the kind tutelage of plantladylin way back in the early days! Thanks and please keep up the good work!!

Congratulations! Good job and may you become the local Plant Goddess/Guru!

(Zone 1)

Anna, It sure sounds like you are hooked like the rest of us! You are really becoming a Plant-aholic! I love plants but boy would I be a nervous nellie if someone asked me to take care of their plants while they were on holiday! I'd be so worried that they would return home to pitiful looking half dead plants!

I am in total agreement with you about this Wonderful Garden! I have had so many folks help me in identifying some of my plants with proper names and I've learned about a lot of plants I had never even heard of! The subscription to DG was the best gift I ever gave myself!

Happy Growing!

Your 11 will soon grow to 22, then 33, then 44 and so on! LOL

Anna,

Bless your heart! You remind me of myself, 30 years ago!

It is, indeed, exciting when you gain confidence in caring for precious plants. Like any baby, they rely on us to give them the conditions that they need-food, water, and love- in the right proportions and consistant care.

I have a notion you are "hooked" on plants, so why not be good to yourself and give yourself the gift of a subscription to DG, where you will have such a broad spectrum of help. and all the information that you could ever need, to help your passion for plants grow? :-)

Happy gardening!!

Great idea Sasha! I'm doing that for myself at the new year :)

Good job Anna! I know where you're coming from...my mom is the ultimate green thumb, and for years I had what we jokingly called 'the blackest thumb in the family'...I couldn't even keep a *weed* alive. But now, like you, I'm happy to say I think I've developed a wee bit of an addiction here...last count in my little house I had something like 80 plants, and around 14 in my small office at work! Soon people will be bugging you for starts and so on! *cheers to you!*

Good girl Anna, you have just joined the merry band of gardeners and boy, is that something to shout about, yippee, next thing you know you will be carrying small plastic bags and some clipper around in your best handbag just in case you see something needing pruned, ER, that's a nice way of saying "I fancy a bit of that plant for myself" Good Luck and happy gardening for many years to come. What a wonderful passion to have! It's relatively inexpensive, good for you and the environment, and allows you to meet alot of great people. How many things can you say that about? Mistygardener is right. This time next year your collection will probably have doubled. Keep working with the plants and let someone else bear the children. You won't be sorry...
Chris
