Hi... well, I had to use the snow blower... and my sister helped a bit... thank God... all the snow was actually easy and light.... oh all my roses are completly covered... looks so strange!!!
Harper, I will be happy to share!!! lol!!!
Hi!!!! I miss you guys!!!
Kassia...why are you trying to be superwoman???? Your arm is never going to heal at this rate, and you'll be all fouled up when spring comes.
Two years ago, I did 3 days of digging in rock hard soil without work boots. I woke up on the 4th morning with a dead right leg...they called it "foot drop"...couldn't move my leg from the knee down and had zero control of my foot for nearly 9 months. I waited too long to go to the Dr. and now have semi-permanent nerve damage. They put me through 6 months of physical therapy, and luckily it rarely bothers me now...but it "warns me" when I'm overdoing.
LISTEN TO YOUR BODY !!!
Wow, Jasper. That's a new one to me. Glad you mostly recovered.
Oooo, yeah. Owie. Glad it's better.
Yikes! I never heard of such a thing. Okay - well the terrace has rock hard dirt - so I better order some workboots. DH will rototill the dirt (assuming that he can . . .gee, how long does it take to recover from a heart attack? )
We have a very old rototiller - are they hard to manage - or should I start lifting weights now to strenthen my arms?
Good grief, I might have to work on my fitness just to work in the gardens!
I did hear of it. From prolonged nerve compression - that's why it went numb. Glad you recovered, JD.
Mike, I know... I a paying the price today.. ouch! If I listen to my body it will tell me "get off your butt, go to gym and get in shape!" lol...
I just ignore it most of the time! I need to garden!!!!
Yes, Victor, that's exactly the cause. Prolonged nerve compression. It ruined my career as a professional hop-scotch player.
Sorry Kassia...didn't mean to hijack.
There goes the U.S.'s chances of taking the Gold. Drat.
Mike, no need for apologies!!!! LOL!!!!! what is hop-scotch player???
anyway... I got an A+ on the Nursing Research Class!!! oh I am so happy!!!! now for sure Regis can't deny my application for graduate school!!!!! oh I am so happy...
Congrats Kass! Why is Regis Philbin involved??
Was that you, Harper?!
"WAY TO GO"!!!!!! Congratulations Kassia! Eleanor
Congratulations Kassia!
Jasper, Glad you healed, the hopscotch community still mourns your loss.
Mike, I believe Ratso Rizzo had the same ailment.
Jasper = Mike??
Yes, though I'm not sure it's absolute equality.
He is neither Jasper nor Dale?
Maybe I will be neither Dave nor 47.
Is anyone really who they are?
Wow man! Deep!
I know - just gave myself a headache. Time for sleep. Manana!
Goodnight.
Time for Letterman.
Kass, great news on the research class! not that I'm surprised...you work so hard. and you are very smart.
Jasper = Mike? Ok, that must be like Phoebe = Eleanor!! That does happen and people aren't who they say they are - they're incognito (had to look that one up in the dictionary and I think it weighed over 5 pounds - still can't lift!) Someone or Anybody
Mike, you still around? gotta ask...why JasperDale? you can tell me MYOB if you want :)
Yeah! Why not JasperChip
Aaaalvin!!!
Good work, Kassia! Gold stars for you.
Yes, JD is Mike. He explained his name on an old thread about why each of us selected our DG names.
Do you remember his reason? I'm curious since students / alums of Manhattan College are 'Jaspers'.
He should be awake soon and can tell you but it was from a character in a book.
I'm awake now ! My name comes from a character in the Anne of Green Gables story. He had a stuttering problem, but was otherwise brilliant with the "technology " of the 1800's. I stuttered pretty badly as a kid. (That's where the similarity with the character ended! ) Then I got a cat who "baa'ed" like a sheep and it sounded like he was stuttering, so I named the cat JD. When I joined DG, I couldn't think of a good screen name. The cat was sitting next to me so in frustration, this is the name I ppppppiiicccckkkeeeddddd.
I enjoy all the schizophrenics here. We may be schizophrenics, but at least we know who we are, right?
Hey we have something in common, Mike. I had a lisp as a kid. Not as bad as Sylvester, but enough to 'notissss'. Luckily, it corrected rather quickly and I can now turn it on and off at will.
Wonderful accomplishment, Kass!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! We all knew you could do it!!
Victor - under what circumstances do you turn on your lisp now? LOL
I firmly believe that it is the "digressions from perfection" that each of us has that makes us real people and gives us compassion for others.
Hey - I lived in Long Beach in the early 70's - so there is another point of convergence!
Digression and convergence is successive posts! Wow - it comes full circle and now it all makes sense.
Louise - at opportune moments.
who decided what's perfect?
That bloody guy who lives in the glass house!
yeah.......what is "the norm" anyway???? Paris??? snicker.....
Defining the standard is the impossible - or should be when it comes down to it.
well, norm is fairly easy to figure. that's most of us walking around being boring. but that guy who has that 'beat of a different drum' going on is special. I went to school with a kid who walked around with his head hanging down, didn't socialize much, but, oh what was going on inside his head! He's a math genius, and is a very highly thought of PhD in his field today. some of the kids who made fun of him are probably struggling to make a living.
JD may have stuttered, but maybe that was because people should have slowed down to listen because what he had to say was worthwhile.
