Hello everyone!!!! I missed you guys so bad!!!! finally the semester is done! xtmas shopping is done and I can relax again!
I am starting to voluinteer as a nurse at a free clinic every other week... still exploring the opportunities here, no final answer yet... my arm still hurts a lot... I am seeing the specialist tomorrow to figure out what is the real problem. Today even my wrist hurts and it's a little numb!
Big hug to all of you!
Hi!!!! I miss you guys!!!
Kassia, so glad to finally hear from you! I'm also glad you will be getting that arm checked out, it's about time!!!!
Hope it's nothing serious and you feel better soon.
Hi Kass! Glad to see you posting. Get that arm checked out! Good luck and enjoy the slower pace.
Missed you too, Kass! Get better soon!
Hi Kass,
I hope you get your arm figured out. I am a little lost because I thought you graduated already.
Hey Kassia!!!! Good to have you back. Let us know what the Doc says about your arm.
Yahoo - we were about to send out a search party for you, Kass!! So glad to have you back, and I too hope your arm problem gets resolved soon!
I've been wanting you to know that 2 of the BES vine seeds you gave me became little plants and are growing right up to my patio trellis. I'm so excited! Thanks again!!
Please let us know how your arm is doing......
Louise
Congratulations Kassia! Glad you're back.
Hope your arm feels better
HI!!!! you guys are the best!!!
I am going to school now for a masters in Nursing... I want to be a Nurse Practitioner - I think I am going for Psych Nursing or Public Health! I like a lot of things.
My arm is giving me grief... right now is ok, not so bad pain I can deal with it... but I will see the doc tomorrow... so much pain meds has played a number in my stomach... and I took it always with food... after awhile its hurts regardless.. so heartburn is keeping me up right now... oh I don't want to be in a bad mood, but sometimes can't help it...
I will let you guys know!
Thanks everyone!!!!
Good luck! Sounds like you may need PT.
Plant Therapy?
Depends - potty training??
Hi Kassia - I missed this thread yesterday. I didn't get on the computer very much yesterday. Colin's sitter is watching him at my house while his mother is in Baltimore again and he has an ear infection. He is doing much better today. In other words I've been kinda busy too. I'm glad things are slowing down so life won't be so hectic for a while. But I'm still worried about that arm. You've got to get it better before spring when you need to get back out in the garden!!! Eleanor
Kassia - saw this article on "frozen shoulder" this morning and thought about your owie.

Feel better Kassia!
Did you hurt your arm lifting the turtles? Andrew is on the disabled list at the moment as well. He's really bummed out.
Deb & Andrew
Peter, if I remember correctly? Can't spell Peter without PT.
Hi!!!!! LOL!!!!! you guys have it right... I need PT- a bit of arthritis... not that I trust that md... she didn't even touched me... what kind of health assessment is that???? she never asked me if I wanted meds, and how much pain... just told me it was "normal wear and tear".... goodness gracious this is what I called a microwave type health care! so I am going for PT!!!
Pirl, he is really hot! looks great! too bad he is far away!!!
Eleanor - that's exactly what I am worried about it! how am I going to garden??? or maybe I will forget all about the pain when spring comes... either way I really hope nothing will keep me away!!!
ah, I just registered for 2 classes :( Nursing Theory and Community Based Nursing (this should actually be good because I can use the hours I volunteer in the free clinic!)
gardening only inside the house. the desert rose I got at Logees is doing so so... the roses inside the garage are ok... dormant ok... dahlia tubers are ok too... just checked them last night... not as plump as they used to be... and office violets are actually looking good... boy I abuse them! you can lift them out of the pot with a finger! so pathetic... but they are blooming!
I am so glad that the PT I need is not potty training!!! LOL... Plant Therapy sounds really good!!!
ah. I am finally finishing Yankee's book "the earth knows my name" - needless to say I really LOVE that book... Yankee I will mail it back to you mid next week! thanks so much for your patience!!!
Kassia - no problem - I bought a copy from the author so I could get it autographed - so I have a spare.
IMHO, I think that you need a second opinion. The pain you described earlier sounds quite scarey and not necessarily consistant with the diagnosis you were given. Also - you are diabetic which can cause other problems. Wouldn't it be necessary to take an x-ray or MRI or something like it to confirm the deposits that cause arthritis? You might ask for a second opinion at the Free Clinic when you are there - the price is right and the MD's really want to help people - or they wouldn't be there.
I swear, we should be able to get refunds from doctors when they don't perform up to normally accepted standards!!!
Yes, Victor, the PT's name is Peter.
Oh Kassia! Peter would love to help you, I'm sure. He loves gardening.
AYC - Agreed!
Hi, Kass. It is really good to hear from you. I agree with Cat & pirl. You're at the clinic anyway. talk to the docs there. this doesn't sound like practicing medicine...sounds like 'guessing' medicine. PT is probably a good idea, but the therapist needs a good diagnosis to really help you. (this is a totally UNEDUCATED guess, but it sounded like it could be a pinched nerve. if that isn't properly treated you could have permanent damage to the nerve...but I don't have to tell you that. that's why you need to talk to another doctor). let us know how it goes.
I doubt if PT can do much without tests being done first. Otherwise they have to deduce what's wrong by asking questions. That's harder on them and delays relief to you.
Oh, I am calling my primary care- she is a good doctor and we will have this figured out. We did x-rays yesterday - and I knew about the arthritis in the neck, and my neck does looks the same as the previous one I did over a year ago when you compare it side by side! that's why I was even more frustrated.
and I am in pain this morning! I am not a happy camper! it took me forever to do my hair! and how about cleaning the turtles - I mean changing the water! and to make matters worse some kinds of women MUST wear attire can't touch my right shoulder!
oh the bright side, I am getting gift certificates for roses for xtmas!!!! finally my family got it!!!!! I want xtmas in April!! as soon as the forsitias bloom!!!! sounds like a better time for me!!!
Ouch - sounds like a possible tear if it's that painful. You need an MRI. My dad just had rotator cuff surgery. How did the pain start? Was it with any one event?
Kassia, I'm so sorry you are having such a tough time with your arm. I do hope that you will be much better soon so you can enjoy the Christmas season!
Hey Kassia,
If you are still in pain this spring, we can come over and dig holes for you!
Feel better,
Deb and Andrew
oh Debi, thanks... I will take you up !!!! I have 25 roses coming !!!! lol!!!!
Victor , the pain started a day after I did a lot of moving and re-arranging furniture... a cold night, a lot of energy (more like I has really hipper! I had a large cup of my favorite coffee at starbucks!) so I was stupid enough to carry really heavy things, clean the garage, and yes it's trully my fault! so when I had pain I just kept telling myself it was because I had done too much... the problem is that the pain never went away...
I think it's a tear also - so I called my primary... let's see what happens!!!!!!!!
Thanks everyone... I have tons of things to do this winter. Like make labels for all the roses... oh I have plans already for where I am planting the dahlias etc... can't wait...
Is it your dominant arm? It was for my dad.
Hope it gets better soon.
Kassia, psych nurses are in big demand these days in CT, I would guess there too. Because of the lack of psychiatrists, everyone is looking for an APRN to prescribe. Its even a bigger shortage with child psych.
yes Victor... it's my right arm... and tomorrow I have to clean snow!!!!
Dave it is good to know! I have a lot to go before I can prescribe but it's something to look foward to!
Get someone else to shovel!!!
Sorry I wasn't johnny-on-the-spot to welcome you back - but I am still working on finalizing this term! Today should have been the last day - but the snow has rescheduled the last exam.
I guess I should get back to marking.
I'm late to Michaela. Kassia, glad to see you posting. I was thinking about you a lot. I'm so sorry to hear about your arm still hurting. I hope you get it figured out and healed quickly.
Lots of hugs and love.
Can I have Peter when you're through with him?
Harper
You may "borrow" Peter but you may not "have" him, Harper!
Lots of things I'm not saying here.
Not that Peter would mind, Harper!
Can't imagine what Dave.
hmmff..(trying to speak though gagged)
Is it with an upper case P??
HMPHFFT!!
