some advise please... about an online order.

Brownsville, TX

hi all. I just found this website only after I purchased from one specific company. The company's name is Aaron's nursery. After finding the TY TY website and then google ty ty nursery, I found out it has the same pictures, website format.... everything.

Then on this website and amazon, customer reviews on TY TY is really bad.

I called Aarons a few minutes ago and asked them if they were "affiliated or related" to TY TY nurseries. They became highly rude and told me that they are not related in any way with TY TY nursery.

OK Here is my question..

Should I just gamble with the plants or should I just Refuse the order? I have a feeling that these plants will be dead from what everyone is saying.

I ordered with my credit card and my credit card company said I can disbut it.. Just the fact that the company changed names and under an alias is good enough to disbut.

Bakersfield, CA

I too ran into this problem. Checkout this website...cloudforest.com It should read...www.cloudforest.com/northwest/forum/33824.html-7k than you can go from there.

Marquette, MI(Zone 5a)

Customer Service should never, ever be rude. (nor should we be rude with them - just affirmative.) Think what will happen if you have a problem with the Aaron's company. Good luck with this one.
If it were me, I would cancel the order and/or refuse the shipment. And notify the credit card company

(Zone 7a)

I wouldn't order from them if you have any doubts about the quality. The person you talked to may not know about any affiliation. I would refuse the order.

And by the way, welcome to Dave's. You'll love it.

Brownsville, TX

well, they do not know ANYTHING about my order, my credit card does not list them yet...

which is odd when u consider that they said my order has been shipped...

i am wondering if they messed up my billing info or something.

i let you guys know what happen...

since they offfer no refunds, i do not know how the dispute process with my C. card will turn out.. :( (if they are unhealthy plants)

(Zone 7a)

Please do let us know. We're curious bunch.

(Zone 9a)

Hi all,

Yes we are a curious bunch.

I don't know about "Aarons" relationship with TY TY, but that sure sounds like TY TY "service" over the telephone.

I was luck in dealing with TY TY. I knew that the guy I was talking to was either a moron or being dishonest with me.

I guess with a reputation like theirs a company would have to find unusual ways to stay in business.

Please let us know how your order turns out.

GOOD LUCK

Footnote: Was everyone going to let "We are a curious BUNCK" sit there? :))) Thats right people I don't spell check enough. Probably should have left it longer to see who was awake. :)))))) Seriously people - let someone know when they type that poorly. How else are we going to learn English? :))))) Thanks.

If worse comes to worse, we can band together and descend upon the en masse like angry villagers with farm tools, to ensure they treat you properly !

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

I was pretty certain they were affiliated with TyTy, and I found this : http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/fig/msg02171859716.html

Sorry, I do wish you luck with your order, hopefully it goes well. If they offer no refunds I'd ask for replacements until I was satisfied, they really do have a negative reputation.

(Zone 7a)

Too funny, Germinator! If you'll notice, I didn't use proper English. "We're curious bunch." Huh.

Pinellas, FL

i just visited the TY TY nursery website, what's with the pictures of half naked people with plants? not only are the people poorly photo shoped onto the pics but who would ever risk giving them money after seeing that?

(Zone 9a)

redzone911, when you say "half naked people" do you mean women?

I might have to have a look at that. Maybe Ty Ty deserves another chance after all. :)))))))))))))))))

Pinellas, FL

actually it's more funny than sexy, people should visit the website just to laugh at their attempts at advertising:)

(Zone 7a)

I looked at thought it was pretty funny. Sex to sell palnts? Huh.

Clemmons, NC(Zone 7b)

The musa photos are most entertaining..lol

Saint James, MO(Zone 6b)

Let your credit card dispute it with them. They will be charged by the credit card company for cancellation of your order, and it can be done, whether they want you to believe it or not. Good Luck!

Liberty, WV(Zone 6b)

lol!!! Thanks for the laugh guys, those pictures and captions both are some kind of funny! =p especially this...

http://www.tytyga.com/product/Windmill+Palm

In the picture with the lightening there's a guy walking like nothing is happening, and it looks like they photoshopped the plant beside the palm to be on fire... hee hee.. There's no way I'd order from those people, but it sure is entertaining!

As for Aaron's Nursery & TyTy...I'd say they're more than likely the same....Or at very least the websites are made by the same person. I still wouldn't order from either one! Skeery!! lol

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

Here is a list I copied from a thread here sometime ago. I don't know if it's complete or if they have added or dropped names:

The Nursery at TyTy also does business as:
Blackberry Plant Nursery
African Amaryllis Bulb Nursery

Arron's Flower, Tree, and Shrub Nursery
Arron's Nursery with other listings
Aaron's Bamboo Nursery
Aaron's Daffodil Nursery
Aaron's Leucojum, Tuberose, and Eucomis Nursery
Aaron's Allium Nursery
Aaron's Clivia Nursery
Aaron's Agapanthus Nursery
Aaron's Elephant Ear Nursery
Aaron's Ariod Nursery
Aaron's Iris Nursery
Aaron's Ginger Lily Nursery

Arron's Fruit Nursery

They used to be listed in Garden Watchdog. There were hundreds of negs and maybe a handful of positives. Ty Ty protested and made Dave remove them from Garden Watchdog. I would refuse the package and contact my CC company immediately to see what the status is on your payment and how you can get a refund through your CC.

Good luck,

Karen

PS: I don't believe he doesn't know they are affiliated with Ty Ty

Brownsville, TX

as of now, it has been one week

My card has not been charged.

I am going to try to contact them to see whats up. Apparently they do not use computers to track orders, hehehe.

I am hoping my billing info was wrong or something, so they could not charge me.

I let you guys know.

Anyone know of a good pecan tree seller? for something in zone 9, south texas?

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

http://www.oikostreecrops.com/store/home.asp?cookiecheck=yes& Try this site. great quality trees and good prices!

Ayrshire Scotland, United Kingdom

Any company that dont offer any refund is a no no for me, there are much more companies to order from that give either refunds or send out replacement plants/goods etc, so lets just say, we have all been warned about there attitude and customer care. sure hope you get lucky with your order. good luck. Weenel.

Interesting that those links to the "naked people" ads don't work now. And when you do a search for that company on the BBB site mentioned on gardenweb, you get some weird error message.

Here's an old DG thread about it:

This BBB link works:

http://columbusga.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=79&bbb=0593&firm=15001569

This thread is so useful. I'm afraid that I wouldn't have picked up the hints about this company and just figured that it hadn't been rated. Now I know. And if that message ever pops up again when I'm looking up a company, I'll understand. Thanks.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Assorted, what ever happened with your order?

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Oh, thank you for the laugh. This has got to be the worst marketing scheme in the world.

http://www.tytyga.com/product/Windmill+Palm Does he love that bark

http://www.tytyga.com/product/Pindo+%28Jelly%29+Palm+Tree I wonder if the gent stands there with this pout all day. Off to laugh some more.

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7b)

I couldn't get those hyperlinks to work...shucks I hate to miss a good laugh!

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

Just go to their main website and click on any of their plant descriptions--most of them are pretty similar in the way they present the plants so you'll get your laughs!

Birmingham, AL(Zone 7b)

Ecrane is right. Any plant, pick the palo? though, as it is hilarious.

Weird, they worked last night. Oh well. Have a good chuckle.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, man, I missed the joke! The links bring up a "404 Page Not Found". Think they're on to us laughing at their website? LOL

Argyle, TX(Zone 7b)

Assorted, if you are buying fruit or nut trees, you might try Texas Pecan Nursery. They have good prices and are very friendly on the phone. Their web-site says "wholesale to the trade only", but they do sale to the public also. Their number is 903-849-6203. Be sure and ask for them to mail a catalogue as their fruit trees are not listed on their web-site. They do not carry as wide of a variety of fruit trees as others and they do not have alot that they usually carry right now because of a late freeze in the spring. They are in Northeast Texas. Take care, Mike

Mableton, GA(Zone 7a)

If you plan to dispute, make sure you have as much info as possible. Contact dates, names and detailed info from the conversations. And esp. photos of poor plants. Before any plants arrive, call the CC company and make sure you can still dispute even if you refuse the order without seeing it. The CC company may say that TyTy said they were good and you just changed your mind.
CC companies act as if it is easy enough to dispute, but American Express refused to give me my money back on a roach infested hotel room on the OPPOSITE side of the building from the beach (I paid for a beach room) because I actually stayed there. It was 2:00 am and I had a toddler and a baby and we didn't know how disgusting the room was until we had brought everything up and settled in. Where were we to go at 2 am with 2 babies!?!
Bottom line, make sure you have all your i's dotted and t's crossed for the dispute.
Good luck. :)

Mableton, GA(Zone 7a)

I've always hear such horrible things about them. After reading this, I had to go to the web site. I didn't see anything particularly provocative (I only looked and a handfull of photos though), but the are really kinda CREEPY. They must fancy themselves some sort of photographic artists or something. I certainly don't get the impression they are promoting their plant products with these weird photos.
I'm glad I never ordered from them, but it is even more disturbing how many "aliases" they have.
yuck.

Brownsville, TX

well, they have not bill me yet, and my CC was stolen at IHOP, so good luck on them trying to bill me now, I do not even know if they have my tele number.

Its been over 3 weeks, right?

They sell stuff that is not in stock and they promise a two week delivery.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh, noooo, so sorry to hear about the theft! Obviously, you had to cancel the card account. I detest thieves. I hope you didn't lose anything that wasn't replaceable.

Brownsville, TX

its was "where is my card?"

20 minutes later, it was cancled and a new one was over-nighted to me.

well, i am thinking of starting a new thread, maybe you guys and ladies can help me with fruit tree selection.

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

Good thinking!

Tuscaloosa, AL(Zone 7b)

Assorted,

I think you found the silver lining in your "dark cloud" credit card problem -- TyTy can't contact you or charge your credit card to ship your order.

I've bought fruit trees from these folks: http://www.baylaurelnursery.com/index.html

They shipped beautiful trees, good prices, reasonable shipping, and if you need any advice on which varieties or which rootstock would be the best choice for your area, they are very helpful. They have a LOT of fruit trees with low chill requirements, which in Brownsville may be important to you. But you have to order early, as they do sell out every year.

Good luck,

Karen
