Identification help

Bordentown, NJ

I'm new to this site. I've become interested in both indoor and outdoor gardening within the past year or so. I have no idea what type of plant this is. The parlor palm looks similar in leaf shape, but this plant is only about 8 - 10 inches tall and seems to grow in clumps. I've had it for 8 months and it's only gotten about 3 inches taller. The bunches have thickened and grown a bit. It was part of a planter that a family member received from a florist. Any ideas?

Hi ddzurinko: Welcome to the Garden! Looks like you do have a Parlor Palm:

or possibly Areca Palm: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=areca+palm&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search

I really think it's a Parlor Palm, sold often as house plants and used by florists in dish gardens also. They seem to be very slow growing in my experience.

Thank you very much!
