I was just reading a few threads that made me think that we need a central place to wish each other Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Pearl Harbor Day, or even National Chocolate Day (28th). I'm sure this has been done in previous years, but being a newbie this year, here's my shot at it.
Oh! It's kinda late - I'll post my card tomorrow!
POST YOUR HOLIDAY "CARDS" HERE!
Eleanor:
As I watch the snow fall outside my window, all I can say when I see your card is: how pretty!!
Thanks Candyce!! Eleanor
Eleanor, I agree with Candyce..very pretty. I have some wintery scene pictures forming outside as I type.
Eleanor, do you actually grow the succulents in the wreath form? Awesome idea!
Yes Sue. I started it last spring and it has done really well, but I don't know what the winter is going to do to it. I ordered the form from a company in Maine (can't think of the name right now). I also got a type of moss in sheet form that I used to line it and then filled it with soil. Then the fun really began - going to local nurseries to find different things to plant in it. You have to make sure that the succulents don't grow to big. It also has to be left laying down until the roots take hold and start to grow. Eleanor
Beautiful card and wreath, Eleanor!
Thanks everyone. Now where are the rest of the cards? Come on guys get creating on the computer. You all have beautiful photos (I've seen them) so just add text to it. Eleanor
Beautiful, Celeste!
Nice guys.
I'll work on one.
That is absolutely beautiful Celeste!! Eleanor
Thanks, I had fun playing on this snowy day. Besides, it kept me from ordering any more lilies bulbs off the co-ops!!
Eleanor and Celeste......beautiful cards.......they couldn't be prettier!!
Thanks everyone!! Eleanor
I know I should try to create one as well. Perhaps while the little ones are napping this afternoon I can get back onto the computer to play around with some photos.
Beautiful cards.
Eleanor, I would love to know how that wreath winters over. Do you have it hanging on the door? It is lovely. Have you ever looked at this website?

Polly,
Awesome web site. Have you ever bought from them before? They've got everything!! I hung it on the railing on my deck, instead of a door. I don't really have a good door to hang it on. For the winter I put it under my deck where it would have some protection from the wind. It is near the edge so it will still get some snow cover wihich would be good to have for the winter. Eleanor
That is so cool, Eleanor!! Love it!!
Fantastic mix of colors, shapes and textures. I remember discussing what to do with it in the winter. Hope it makes it!
Thanks Louise and Victor. I'm sure there will be some loss but if most of it makes it I'll be happy. I put it where I place my other succulents that I have in containers - sometimes they do well and sometimes they don't!! Eleanor
Eleanor,
I have never ordered from there, but am considering it. Such a variety.
There was a co-op with them that apparently turned out well.
It's beautiful, Eleanor.
Really nice photo Al. Love it! How many did you have to take to get it just right with the reflection, etc.? Eleanor
That's a great photo Al, as mentioned on another thread.
It's the perfect holiday card.
Al that is really neat! Take many pics to get it right??
Thank you.
Reflection was easy, I needed a sunny morning to get the brightness that helped minimize my reflection in it. I took maybe 10 similar shots - the bad ones are too grainy.
Great cards. I should have posted early. Now I'm going to have to come up with something really nice :)
Eleanor, I really love that wreath. I was thinking about it when you posted before and now that I see it again I really think I need one. There was a place that was selling gorgeous ones at Thanksgiving. Can't remember who. they kept sending me e-mails and I had to delete as soon as I saw it or I would have ordered one for sure. I think it would be more fun to make my own.
If you like musical Christmas cards, here's a gem.

Not bad Don - sort of Pythonesque.
Victor - your card is good, a little darker or bolder font would help.
Thanks Al. As I said the adjustments and choices for font were limited. As it is, I used bold and something else to make it darker!
Are you familiar with any programs other than Elements? I would like to get into that kind of cool stuff with layers, borders, etc., but don't want to spend forever learning it. How long does it take to learn to use the basics of it?
I did demo PaintShopPro this summer after I upgraded to Vista. The interface and lingo is very similar to Elements. I don't think the everyday project stuff is hard at all - you can undo mistakes as you go which helps. I have only used the help section a few times.
I found this link

Thanks Al. Interesting to see my ACDSee come in 4th. I think it's pretty limited as an editor.
I just bought Photo Explosion. For what I am doing it is not bad but I am not going into depth. I just need to do pictures for ebay and here. With Corel Draw if you want something in particular you can make it. Say a border with a particular flower. Don't attempt Corel Draw I tried it and would have to go to school to learn it.
