Couldn't find "english daisey" in plantfiles and I just bought a pack of seeds for them. Seeds are by Ferry Morse company, a perennial of double mixed colors in white and pink shades. Seemed to fit the bill I was looking for but in searching for them the first site was this: http://www.weedalert.com/weed_pages/wa_english_daisy.htm granted the pic does not look like the seeds image I have. Thought this was an interesting site nonetheless and would appreciate feedback from experienced gardeners on how accurate or helpful you think the link is.
Should note, most of the other links in the search had favorable things to say about this flower.
Debating on using it.
weedalert.com, a site for newbies!
I'm not sure why it didn't come up for you, there are a bunch of them in Plant Files http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=bellis&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=both&Search=Search If you know exactly which one you have I'd check and see what people have said about it, especially if you can find someone from your area. Your weed alert link mentions that it's a problem in the northwest and is found elsewhere, that would imply to me that it's not as big a problem elsewhere. If you're in doubt, try searching for lists of invasive plants in your state to see if it's listed. http://plants.usda.gov is a good place to start, or else google "Bellis perennis invasive your state name"
Thank-you Ecrane. Mine look mostly like: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/129071/ and http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/55471/ however cheap seed packets rarely are specific about which ones you have.
I guess plantfiles isn't foolproof. I typed "english daisey" in the common name section, same as I did for the other 3 seed varieties and all but the english daisey came up. Strange?
Thank-you for the education!
Tir-Na-Nog, drop the "e" in daisy, and it should work fine :)
HA! You are so right!!!! Strange that when I typed in daisEy for "painted daisey" it took that one. THANK-YOU!!!
No problem, I'm always adding or subtracting letters. If "I" know what I mean, whydoesn't the "puter?? I've seen it both ways, and I'd guess it just depends on what's already in the files.
bawhaha! so true!
