That is lovely!
Water Cooler - 3
My oldest sister was going to be named Crystal, but my mom had been reading a book with the character Wendy in it, and went with that. Crystal Pink is pretty, but definitely didn't fit my sister!
My mother wanted to call me Alberta Regina!
OMG this is hilarious....I went to school with kids name Don Johnson, and Michael Jackson....poor kids! LOL.
My dad wanted to name me Louise but mom won and I am Dawn!
My brother had a kid in his HS class named Clinton Linton!
Best name I ever heard of - the family name was Scianci - pronounced see-an-see, with the emphasis on the 'an'. A little girl was born and they named her Nancy Ann! Imagine when she acted antsy!
My sister went to school with Robert Roberts. And I worked with a girl whose last name was Slutsky.
I really felt bad for her.
I just remembered that the organist from our old church was named Esther Nestor.
Deb - are you in NYC?
Home now Victor, just got back a bit ago. A very nice weekend. Waved to you on my way by.
Was that you?!
My brother in law does bridge work, and was working in my town one summer, and I drove by their site, yelling and waving out the window - and they were waving and whistling back - it wasn't my brother in law - but an unknown bridge crew. I almost stopped to talk, glad I didn't. So was it you I waved to?
Hope so! I have a similar story. My friend is an iron worker and way back in '85 when I met my wife at a Summer job in Manhattan, we were walking at lunchtime and she tells me that someone is yelling my name. I turn around and about five blocks north, and about 30 or more stories high, is my friend screaming and waving at me!
Sounds like that was a ways away to recognize you!
Does the NY Botanical Garden have a train display other than for the holidays? Didn't make it there this time, was wondering if we'd like to do a weekday summer trip the next time.
Unfortunately no - it's a Holiday thing.
Sue - i read somewhere that Wendy was a name created by J M Barrie for Peter Pan. i don't know if it is true or not, but i've told an awful lot of people that it was!
There was a Russian figure skater named Irina Slutskya.
I always thought the actor from The Shield, Michael Chiklis, must have had a rough time in high school. Though Tony winning actor Norbert Butz was quite the heartthrob at my high school.
Wow, i am glad the strike is over and Broadway can go back to work. How was the Grinch, Debilu?
It is late. And cold. And i am too tired to check other threads... goodnight!
The Grinch was great! As were the Rockettes. Had a fun, busy weekend.
Today is Jan's turn - check out her Hummer article!
Deb, my (analytically minded) husband saw the Rockettes on t.v. a few nights ago, and couldn't figure out why they are so popular. Duh! I told him it was a 60's thing! Ya know, like the Jackie Gleason dancers and all.
Sue, I thought all guys would appreciate the long legs and cute little outfits! Their synchronized steps are awesome. The whole row of high kicks, need I say more?
I know, that's what I don't get!
Sue - hubby needs to get his mind out of the books once in a while. Here's one analytical person who greatly appreciates the design, shape, symmetry and mechanics of those legs. In fact, I would like to study them further.
Down boy, down!
If you see them 'live' you appreciate the coordination and physical condition of those girls. They are very tall and quite an impressive sight in such a long line.
Yessssssssssssssssssssss.
Now you're bringing on the memories! Went to dancing school from the age of three until my last year of high school and every girl's dream was becoming a Rockette! Obviously I never made the line, but give me a pair of tap shoes and I can still do a mean "shuffle" :)
Waiting to see you on YouTube, Debbie!!
My mom took me as a child to go see them for Christmas, it was an awesome experience. I really have to make it a point to go again with my DW, 'now that I'm all grown up'. I'll add dinner in the city and make it a nice evening.
I never mentioned it before, but I used to be a Rockette. Ah, the memories.
Only in your dreams Victor :) Donated my tap shoes to a good cause a long, long time ago!
Dave - did you have to shave your legs before each show? Eleanor
He had them waxed, more likely.
Reminds me of the movie, Mission Impossible, with the eye scans to get into the vault! LOL Nice eye! It speaks volumes about you, Victor!!
Thanks. The other one is horrible.
I'm glad to see your pupil isn't dilated......speaks well of your abstinence! LOL
Yes, not much after the kids were born! Hee hee. Actually it should look greener. The color of my camera is not the greatest - especially indoors.
What happened to your eyelashes?????? Has anyone ever noticed that Whoopi Goldberg has NO eyebrows?
They're there - it's the angle that makes them look almost non-existent. I was laughing at that myself. I don't play with matches!
God! Spend a few days ignoring you lot and you move, change the topic, and I totally lose it. x, C
