I'm posting this for a friend in Florida.........
This just showed up overnight under a papaya leaf.
Its some kind of egg nest or cocoon.
Can anyone identify this?
(in Florida)
What is this please?
it can't be good! i'd destroy it before it most certainly hatches and defoliates the papaya.
Ah, not to panic. This is the communal cocoon of a beneficial tiny wasp. They seem to be semi abundant on papaya in Florida this year. Here's a link with the same ID question, and the answer found - finally. http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/788173/
