Is my first time on this forum, but i wanted to share a quote i once heard and thought it was very true...
"If you haven't got all the things you want, be grateful for the things you don't have that you don't want"
Do You Have a Favorite Quote, Gardening or Otherwise?
never go faster than your guardian angel can fly.....
Here is another...
" It takes a wise man to handle a lie, a fool had better remain honest"
Oh, another wise guy!
With freedom, flowers, books and the moon, who could not be perfectly happy ?
Oscar Wilde
I like that one Maria.
"You can't have everything. Where would you put it?"
Steven Wright
Steven Wright is great. My plumber has his voice down exactly.
That sounds like more entertainment value than i have ever gotten from a plumber!
i have that quote put up on our hallway closet... Kinda works for gardening too, though.
i have loved Steven Wright since i was a kid. (i was a strange kid.)
Will Turner: This is either madness... or brilliance.
Jack Sparrow: It's remarkable how often those two traits coincide.
Captain Jack Sparrow - sigh.
I'm with you Cat - sigh...
Boy, Capt. Jack is showing up on a few threads today. Ladies, I think we have a bad case of Deppitis.
That would be a good case.
That Steven Wright quote reminds me of the George Carlin skit where he remarks about the only reason we have a house is to put our stuff in it. If we didn't have so much stuff, we wouldn't need a house. When we finally have a house, we buy more stuff. Then what happens? We buy a bigger house to put the more stuff in!
That was a good one. I remember that.
I like stuff.
Me, too, unfortunately. But this year, I'm determined to get rid of as much as possible. Maybe it will unclutter my mind, too!
Primrose, it always makes me feel good to dejunk and "lighten the load". Sometimes I box it up and let it sit for a week if I'm really nervous and uncertain of the decision to part with LOTS of stuff. I generally go thru with it and feel GREAT about it afterwards!
One year I decided it was time to sort the Christmas stuff. I gave away MORE than I kept! I have missed very little of it.
I did that this year - sorted the Christmas stuff when I took the tree down. It's amazing how much you collect over the years.
"There comes a time when we must choose between what is right and what is easy." - Albus Dumbledore
That is a good one, Nancy. Sounds like what a date of Paris Hilton might consider.
Thanks for the nice quote - how true it is!
(good to know it isn't just my sincere statements victor makes light of.)
ROFL!
Good one, Victor!
Now, now ladies. Do not take offense at dear Victor. He simply does not want us to think he a deep, vulnerable kind of guy with a compassionate heart. ~ Pat
I like the Jack Sparrow character too. He was well casted for that. Some of my favorite quotes from him. [Writers are amazing, aren't they?]
Norrington: You are without a doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of.
Jack Sparrow: Ah, but you have heard of me.
[Will draws his sword.]
Jack Sparrow: Put it away, son. It's not worth you getting beat again.
Will Turner: You didn't beat me: you ignored the rules of engagement. In a fair fight, I'd kill you.
Jack Sparrow: That's not much incentive for me to fight fair, then, is it?
Elizabeth: There will come a time when you have a chance to do the right thing.
Jack: I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.
I will always love Jack Sparrow - no matter who wrote his lines!
It's all in the delivery......and boy, does he deliver!
I saw Neverland last night and was very impressed!
I have not seen that one yet.....I have to catch things on pay-per-view as DH hates going to movies....and PPV here consists of 4 porno channels and 2 "not so porno".....
It's a few years old - on dvd. I got it from Netflix.
Do you like netflix Victor? I could not decide which program I wanted when I went to their site a while back......
When I was watching movies I LOVED Netflix! I could sit at the computer and figure out which movies I wanted to see, put them in my que. Because I don't watch any TV etc, I never really knew which movies I WANTED to see until I read up on the descriptions. I do not like returning movies to the rental stores or hiking around trying to find something that interests me. I like having a movie IF and when I want to see one, so it was a good deal for me. (Sorry, I know you asked Victor but ... )
Yes I do - a lot. I was always lazy about going to a video store so I just did not rent much. Now they are adding pc viewable movies as well.
Victor, have you done the PC viewable yet? I updated my computer so it CAN play the movies from them online but I have not yet done it. We only rejoined this time because my husband needed to view certain foreign films that were hard to get in the regular rental stores.
No I have not. It's a limited selection and 99% of what we rent is kid-friendly stuff and there is not much of that in the selection yet.
mrsj - Are you speaking from experience, Post #4545815?
i love netflix for the no late fees. Sometimes i will have a movie for 2 days, sometimes i have no time, and i'll keep it for a month. i wish the turnaround time was a little faster, but it seems to depend on where you live.
i think the Johnny Depp movie about JM Barrie is called Finding Neverland. i liked it a lot a couple years ago...
oh man it is F-A-S-T here! There is a center here so the turn around is unbelievable!
I can mail something back on Monday and have a new movie on Wednesday
Same here - two days. I was condensing the title Amy.
