Pilea spruceana

Richmond, KY(Zone 6a)

Does anyone have any more information on this plant? Plant files doesn't say much. I'm wanting to know if the flowers will produce seeds. (first three pictures)

While I'm at it: What else is trying to grow with my schefflera? Why is my ficus loosing it's variagation?

I don't have this pilea, but I have Pilea involucrata "Moon Valley", which is one of my favorite houseplants. Looks very cool, and very easy too. I water it when the soil surface gets dry, and it is happy enough with medium light. Mine bloomed several times, but I didn't see any seeds. The book says that pilea doesn't like cold draft, and prefers high humidity, but mine was fine even in winter inside with low humidity. You can prune it back severely to shape, it will grow back just fine. They can be propagated by cuttings, but I haven't tried it myself yet.

Your ficus probably needs more light to keep its varigation.

Good luck with your plants.

If you dont cut off the all green leaves from the variegated plants the green takes over and will dominate again as in the wild, all variegated plants need good light to stay paler where this is the pattern, so move the plant to light, but not on a window where the sun will scorch the leaves, it may need a feed also to get some more energy back into producing the pale colouration on the leaves, also a larger pot would help it as these plants like plenty room at the roots but dont over do the pot size. good luck.
