I'm new to veggie gardening here - any suggestions on what I can plant now, or do I have to wait until spring? thanks -- anne
Is there anything I can plant now in portland oregon?
Check with your local extension office for information on what you can plant in your area.
Here's a link to growing vegetables in Oregon. It's from Oregon State University and lists planting times for the different areas in Oregon.

Hope this helps.

thanks karen and doccat5. Will look into it.
About now would be a good time to mulch your garden beds with compost and a top layer of straw or horse manure (to keep the rain from pounding the soil) so they are ready to go in the early spring when you want to get your peas going. It's so nice to go out between rain squalls and only have to pull back the mulch and pop the seeds in the ground, then go back in for a cup of tea.
