Yesterday afternoon I bought a beautiful Iceland Poppy. One big orange bloom was already open with several buds near opening. This morning the one big orange blossom is facing the opposite direction! I thought I was imagining things. Is this normal? LOL. I took the below picture last night.

Hi Cissy, yes this is very normal, especially when you move a plant that has flower buds ready to open, or are actually in flower as your is, the plant was getting light when facing one way when it was in the store, and now you have taken it home, it is facing in a new direction, there is nothing to worry about, and the rest of the flowers will correct themselves as this one has, most soft stem plants will do this even if you move them withing your own home/room, so dont worry about this, it is not a good idea though to keep moving your plant now as it has a good size flower on it. sometimes when I have tiny little seeds at the germination stage, I turn them around each day so that all the growth never grows to the one side, so rotating the pan of seeds stops that from happening, hope this helps you a bit, good luck and enjoy your poppy, by the way, once each flower fades, it my help to remove the dead flowers unless you want loads of easy to germinate seeds, but keep just one seed head or you will weaken your plant and flowering will stop,

Just a note. I've been gone since this AM. When I came back home, my Poppy has turned back and two buds are opening! Love it :)

So Happy for you Cissy, your new plant obviously likes the spot you have got it in, it will reward you well, just dont have it by a window as in sun light, the glass will act like a magnifying glass, and will deplete the moisture from the plant, and if you get frost at night in your zone, then the fluctuating temps can also damage plants, but everything sounds like you are doing everything well, so good luck, hope this plant is the start of a green and happy time for you. Thank you WeeNel :) I getting such a kick out of this plant. I am a beginner, so my enthusiasm is great. Last night, it was facing straight upward, now again this AM, it's facing away from me again LOL. What a kick...new buds opening as I typed this.
