But of course!
Water Cooler 2
ok...just checking !
That is just gorgeous, Arlene! I'd never move away from that window - unless I were outside twirling in the middle of it to see each one.
Candyce - what a great gift for Anna! So thoughtful and creative!
Thanks, Louise. I love it when it's in the shade and I can walk through the garden without sweating.
Candyce - great idea. I have maps and had cut out photos, too, then moved plants so I had to move the cut outs! I even have a box of crayons and colored pencils but the danger is in moving and then having to use white out. It's an evil circle!
....Just a constant work in progress.....what's wrong with that????
"...a constant work in progress" is the part that can get discouraging. It only stays the same for a few months of the year when we have cold weather and/or snow.
LOL! My DH tells me that every plant I put in the ground gets moved at least 3 times in its life! Now, I'm not sure that's not a bit of an exaggeration, but he may be pretty close to right! You might say that I am a constant work in progress myself!!
Moving something 3 times is nothing! I have a few plants that have been moved about 7 times and they still do fine...by now I think they know not to get to entrenched where they are ! (They're not big plants...mainly dwarf hydrangeas, daylilies, phormiums and heucheras) which reminds me......
Funny I just moved 7 ferns for the 3rd time in 3 yrs yesterday (yes I did it on Thanksgiving) - they don't seem to mind though, they're new location is always an upgrade from the previous one!
EXACTLY !!! LOL
I designed a huge turntable under my garden. All the plants are constantly moving.
I saw a house once that was on a turntable, - saves time!
Now it's on a cd.
Now, that's FAST!
You've got my head spinning.
Sitting here and laughing this morning.
Victor: garden on a turntable!!! Awesome idea. It sure would save the back muscles!!
Yes - you can just punch in which part of the garden you want to step into and - voila!
That's an idea worth pursuing, Victor!!! LOL You could move sections of the garden in and out of the sun at will.
JD - you make me feel better! Of course it's ALWAYS for the plant's good when I move it.........yeah, right!!
Mine is more like a rubic's cube. Almost unlimitted options but I know I'll never solve it.
I transplanted a bunch of JIs that used to be in my bog garden. (Had to put in a new liner, It was leaking). I think this marks my latest perennial planting. Amazing how warm the soil is below the surface.
Precisely what Ralph Snodsmith has been saying on radio.
So I'm in good company!
Wow, looks like I've missed out on a lot of talk. Hello everyone!
Look everyone - Harper has escaped her birthday thread! She must have found the scissors!
Please don't run with them!
Hey, Harper! How are you doing these days??? I've been thinking about you....hope you are doing ok.
Guess what we did today? We bought a gun safe for our Fla. house. No guns, but we needed more room than a little safe......now I'll feel better here. We're checking out some more security options as well. Enough is enough. Wish the burglars had pulled this while I was still working and had more moolah to invest in Solid Steel walls and around the clock bouncers!! HA!
You should hang a sign saying 'My guns are bigger than yours, so think twice!'
Victor!
Hey, I'm doing great! Louise, I'm glad you got a bigger safe. I'm only sorry that the darn thieves picked your place. I hope they didn't take anything important.
Louise, make sure the safe is heavy enough that it can't be carried out! Welcome back, Harper! I assume you were not house cleaning? Hee hee.
Victor - we are having it bolted to the floor. Down here the floors are concrete underneath everything, so that should hopefully hold it down pretty well.
Harper - we've had 2 burglaries in the last 3 months.......The first time they stole several heirloom pieces from my DH's family, and this time they stole his brand new mountain bike (his retirement present from his work friends). Ugh
I was house cleaning as a matter of fact, but you wouldn't know it by looking at the place.
That stinks Louise. I'm sorry to hear it. Is your new safe big enough for a bike?
No, Harper.....but now we don't have a bike to go in it anyway. The safe is almost 5 feet tall, 2 feet wide and a foot deep. Nothing big can go in it, but lots of papers, keepsakes, jewelry, laptops, etc. will fit. It is solid steel and can't be pried with a crowbar. I'm sure it can't be perfect, but hopefully the fools that are going around doing all this stuff will be deterred. I'm such a sentimental type, that the least valuable things are sometimes the things I hate to lose the most. I'm mainly ticked about the bike. We're hoping we can have the carport enclosed.
Hope the cops are hearing it from the residents.
The deputy asked me to call and let him know the color of the bike (I wasn't positive whether it was dark blue & white or dark green & white and wanted to ask my DH when he came home). I called right away when I knew the number of speeds and the color (dark green), had to leave him a message to call me back. He hasn't called yet........how can you look for it if you don't know the color????? We're small fish in the scheme of things here, I'm afraid.
I'm sure it's been re-painted already, or is no longer in your area or the thief is real stupid.
I think you're right on all three counts VG.
Don't underestimate the stupidity of most common crooks.
Louise:
Sorry to hear about the bike. Once again you have been targeted. That must be a most uncomfortable feeling! I am very thankful that you and your DH have not been hurt.
Me too, Candyce. So far, the perps have not included violence to the person in their resume. One thing you realize when you retire is that you can't afford to buy everything twice!! LOL
Ugh! I'm glad you're okay Louise!
