fave music and artists
johnny mathis is having his christmas show in conn. some time in december.
claypa - my son chris lives and works in philly. maybe you have seen a picture of him on one of those big bill boards advertising his tatoo parlor.
On the subject of music. My DB asked me if I could find an artist name for him. The name of the music he's looking for is "Lily Was here". Is anyone familiar with this? He says it's music only and very pretty.
Dave Stewart and the Spiritual Cowboys for "Lily was Here"
Thanks. I'll call him right now.
Dave Stewart? He might not take your call, LOL!!!
He used to be in the Eurythmics.
Funny to see people who's minds work like mine. LOL I thought the same thing after I sent the post!
Hey...how was the Stevie wonder concert? Only can imagine nothing but "wonderful"
It was amazing, truly. I cried through the whole first song. They played for two and a half hours - lots of songs from Innervisions, a 15 minute version of Ribbon in the Sky, all kinds of songs. Even in that long of a show, he couldn't play everything. He was really funny, too. He told some story about when he was 16 years old on tour in Philly and wrote the song Cherie Amour for a girl he was "courting".
He also had a lot to say about the violence in Philly.
One of my favorite artists is a relalitive unknown named Marni Nixon. I'll listen to anything, though. I've played drums since I was a little kid, still do. I play in a concert band that's doing a lot of holiday music now. We mostly play assisted living places and parks and such.
claypa...do you mean THE Marni Nixon? She was very popular at one time...Peter Pan, The Sound of Music...I believe she did mostly stage musicals.
Yes... but her big thing was voice-overs in the movies. 'Anna' in "The King and I", (not Deborah Kerr's voice!), Maria in "West Side Story" (she sang all Natalie Wood's parts and some of Rita Moreno's, too) and Eliza in "My Fair Lady".
I thought that was Audrey Hepburn's singing for years.
I love the old musicals!
Wow! The things one learns.
i believe she played the part of either the head nun or one of the other nuns in the sound of music. she starred in the broadway version of the sound of music but when they decided to make a movie out of it they wanted a "known" star so they picked audrey hepburn but the lip sync was amazing.
