CLOSED: Happy Holiday Seed Swap Season #2

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

I agree with Mittsy and distant! While I was going to art school I worked part time for my husband's fine gardening biz-it fit into my schedule however I wanted it to- which turned into full time after I graduated (now 3 yrs ago) lol. But the things you aquire are great. Unfortunately my hubbie has been doing this a long time and he was never a labeler-although he has amazing knowledge and memory, but I am working on cataloguing all we have! What a task. AND-I did not became an avid seed saver until...a few weeks ago when I joined DG. SO next year-oh next year should be great for seeds! When I was trying to identify a mystery plant ,I found Dave's, which I had used before but joining put it into a whole new light! Now I'm addicted! lol Anyway, when I'm looking in the shed and I find an old plant tag-what a treasure!! _Kath

haha a gardening business oooh - something I hadn't thought of.

Maybe I should sign up for an apprenticeship or something.

eh, no, no time. Four kids, and the oldest is 12. I'll start it in 10 years LOL

Spaceball on the move - trying to figure out what I've sent and not-sent yet. I still have the packets I wrapped up in Christmas paper, so I'll add this to the list of things to send :)

I sent off my envie this morning, had the poor clerk at the po in circles as I was doing the math in my head to figure out how much more I had to add in stamps to make $1.30. I had 3- .39 stamps on it. He had to go and get a calculator to figure it out. I told him just add .13 cents. Then I said, I'll have to open the envelope because I didn't put enough return postage inside, I only have 3 - .41 cent stamps, again he goes to get the calculator. Too funny. I told him just give me a 7 cent stamp. He says I'll have to give you a 5 and a 2. I sealed it back up and he put tape on it so It should be just fine. How do they pass the civil service test? No wonder we have such problems with the mail.

Pittsburg, MO(Zone 6b)

My answer to that one mittsy is *'it's a male thing'*, no matter what they always get the jobs.

Rockaway, NJ(Zone 6a)

rofl I gave up and just prepped a box with a fiver in it. My stamp calculations varied too much!

--I forgot to put in a label for return, too. I'm an idjit today, sorry :/

-Sev

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

Sev I think I can supply a label :o) not to worry...

Sorry I have been scarce around here, but we have been busy with the great grandbaby and the greenhouse...

I have crocus bulbs coming this week that I am going to have to get potted up and out... Dh and I were out in the gh finishing it up. Its finally done, now I can PLAY *grinning*. I can't believe how nice it is outside, damp but warm... Also what is it with the lady bugs, they are everywhere, I haven't seen any all summer but now there going crazy...

For postage, just keep in mind that not everyone's seed packs will be the same so the return weight may be different. I really don't like the new stamp pricing the PO has... It really has the clerks all messed up lol. at least at our PO they are...

Well the baby is awake and I am going to go play with her b4 she decides shes going to sleep again...

As I receive each envie I will make it received in the first post with the date received. Mail doesn't run today so maybe there will be some in tomorro's mail :o)

Have a great day,

Connie

...

I was feeling old as a general rule lately, because my husband is 7 years younger than I am. But... Pepsi, you've been married longer than I've been alive! So I get to feel like a kid again, which is always nice. It's really interesting, the vast array of ages we have on these forums, and how well everyone gets along. I haven't seen that in many communities.

Pepsi, married for 57 years is huge - over 40 is huge! Someday I hope to be there. All the women in my family wind up outliving their husbands. My grandmother got re-married this past summer. Her husband had died when I was young, and she's married to a guy half her age - she's in her 80's. It looks like she's going to outlive him, too! I can't imagine burying _two_ husbands. If it weren't sad when it happened, it would just be comical. :)

New Orleans, LA(Zone 8b)

Thanks Connie and Robbi. You didn't miss much. . .lol. Sev, I think connie said 37, not 57. Congrats Connie and happy anniversary to you in advance! Repeating Sev, you've been married longer than I've been alive! Awesome!

Rockaway, NJ(Zone 6a)

Bah, I've been moving furniture all day. 37 is still older'n me, though, so still a wow and congrats!

-Sev

La Salle, MI(Zone 5b)

lol Sev, 57 is even older than I am :o) btw, got your seeds today.

I was going to post earlier but the heating guy was here to open one of the vents we had closed off in the kitchen. While he was under the house he noticed a puddle of standing water, The drain pipe to our tub was rotted out. So we had to call a plumber :( He just left about 40 minutes ago. My daughter just gave her grandaughter (my great grandbaby) a bath. She is wide a wake now :o)... Going to try and keep her that way as long as we can, she has her days and nights mixed up so were gonna try to keep her a wake so she will sleep thru most of the am hours.... I hope it works....

Well you all have a great night,

Connie

Rockaway, NJ(Zone 6a)

ohboy, that's always fun. At least they figure it out in a few days or so!

I figure those nights teach the parents as much as the babies - don't play with the baby when it's nighttime, no matter how irresistably cute they are! LOL

It's hard not to. Those cute little smiles and big blue eyes and pudgy little fingers...

Dang. I'm milking. Figures. Another lesson to learn - keep yer mind off the baby if you're lactating and not feeding at the moment! (that's even harder)

-Sev

Nelson, NH(Zone 5a)

lol! Boy, I remember those days Sev! Mine are so old now though! I loved nursing though. I was a BFing counselor for a few years, until mine got older.
My son, Eli, seems to be on the mend FINALLY, by the way. We went to Dartmouth hospital on Mon so they could check out a rash on his stitches and they took a chunk of skin to examine (a biopsy they said-how unnerving!) and gave him 2 new stitches!! How weird is that!? Anyway-today rash is looking soooo much better. I'm thinking he had it done for nothing now, but better safe than sorry. It was a stressful few weeks! Four emergency room visits and 4 other various doctor visits in 3 weeks(and a whole lot of worrying!) Now we just need the stitches out, so hopefully just this last visit for a while!!!.
Connie-Should I say that I fit into "I'm younger than the years you've been married club" or are we starting to make you feel old? lol! That is impressive! We celebrated 16 years mid Oct. Being that I was only 19 when I got married I think it's impressive!! I woke up to snow everyone! I'll have to post pics from my other computer-this one always finds old deleted pics and not new ones! I hope seeds are going out today, but I'm not feeling well, so I'm not sure if I'll make it to the PO.-Kath

Pepsi-how old did that make you feel-LOL You haven't been married longer than I have been alive-now I feel OLD-LOLOL

My hubby is also younger than me Sev-see another thing we have in common-mine is not that much younger, but I still had to train him as he was wet behind the ears-LOL

I am trying to get my seeds together as we speak...does anyone want to look at my haves and tell me what I should add for these 15 packs? I want to make sure there is something good for everyone :o)

Here's a pic of my front door. This is a rhodie that came from May Sarton's house(a famous writer/poet) Here's a cool link about her that talks about the Nelson,NH house [HYPERLINK@digital.library.upenn.edu]
The current owners added on to the house and dug this and an ancient laurel up and had them sitting out of the ground for weeks and weeks. My DH offered to put them back in the ground there or here. They thought about it and they're addition was not close to done-they let us take them both!!! I love the shape of this rhodie. We grow MG's up it, it's very pretty. The left tree is a Tolleson's weeping juniper, behind it is a small pond.

Here are some of the MG on the rhodie pics. Doesn't it make you feel warm?
