CLOSED: Happy Holiday Seed Swap Season #2
Connie, I will definitely be praying for Jlyn. I hope all is well today.
My son, Eli, is doing much better today. Cellulitis is the skin infection he has and it can be hard to tackle, but he is already on the upswing!
Mittsy, what a great birthday tradition for all of us! I would love some allium as well!
The gift exchange is fine with me, but with two sons I would need to lean toward the less expensive end of the range!-Kath
I swear you can cut down on germs by going to the health food store and buying a few bottles of essential oils, lemon, lavender and peppermint. They are not expensive and when mixed with distilled water and sprayed on household surfaces like bathrooms, faucets and doorknobs you can cut down on germs big time. I sprayed Rob's house several times a day when he was recovering from his bad burns and even though the boys were all over him and his bedding he never got an infection. Lavender oil is wonderful for any skin problems and you can use it straight out of the bottle.
I'm praying for you, your daughter and granddaughter. Don't worry about this thread just attend to your family.
A gift exchange is fine with me. mittsy I would love some allium seeds.
Thanks Mittsy, I already have all those oils too. (definitely a health nut here!) It is crazy that such a small hole(a tetanus shot) could get such a crazy infection. I had cellulitus very bad two years ago from poison ivy-which makes more sense to me-such a large area for germs to choose from. There was some negligence on the doctors part, so now I'm questioning a lot about the whole situation. The shot was not even put in the best location for the body to absorb it (the deltoid muscle). We ended up going to the emergency room because despite calls at night and in the morning the doc who gave the shots would not see him and felt it was just a reaction. His whole upper arm was very swollen and had a huge red patch with a white outline. It's stressful when you don't know what's going on and you put faith in someone who is supposed to be helping you. It's comforting to have doctors you can trust.
Connie, I hope all is well with Jlyn. I think it is hard when you have a baby who can not tell you how she is feeling or what is going on. Your grandaughter is lucky to have you for support.-Kath
I'm sending prayers out to you all.
Happy Birthday Mitsy, Alium please.
I'm in on the gift exchange too, but need to be on the lower price scale, my freezer went out last night. If I can't fix it, I will have to buy a new one. YUK!
About the gift exchange, would $10.00 be to much for anybody???
Well we got my son to the airport by 7and he made it to Seattle on time :o) He just called me a little bit ago... Good thing he didn't call sooner cause my phone and internet service was out :(
As for my great grandaughter they have her on a breathing machine monitoring her every breath. They are going to do an upper GI on her at 8 am in the morning :( I don't like the idea of that, she is just sooo little... I hope they don't scratch her little throat up... But they have to find out what is causing her to choke and stop breathing, she was born 25 days early. They have her sleeping in her car seat, because she chokes when she is laying flat on her back.... Boy have things really changed since I had my kids, lol my daughter says the same thing. You can't lay them on there stomach, you are not suppose to put a blanket on them when you put them down to sleep...
Well I am going to go soak in a hot tub of water, then go to bed. I am going back up to the hospital in the morning before they start the test. You all have a good night. :o)
Connie
Wishing you Peace Connie and sending prayers for the sweet baby.
Forgot to add 10.00 would be fine with me.

Continuing to pray for your family.
$10.00 limit is ok with me.
$10 is ok here...glad I wasn't the only one with a limited budget....graduate school will do that to you.
:) Kim
$10 is fine with me : )
$10 is great!!
$10 fine here as well.
Mittsy-Love for me please :o) (in a mist-LOL) and I am number 10 in case you needed that.
Glad to see you are using Lavender-my favorite :o) I just used it for my dry hands.
Sorry I have been absent so much-but life gets in the way sometimes. Think about you guys all the time :o)
Robbi
Good morning all, I can't wait for daylight savings, it's so dark out and I want to get outside and get working in my garden. It'l be another 2 hours before it's light enough to avoid the snakes and spiders, etc. I'd use a big floodlight but don't think the neighbors would appreciate it. Ah well one of the compromises of condo living. Good thing i have seed counting, envelope making and quilting to fall back on! lol.
$10 good for me too
Connie, I am sending prayers your way, I hope that they find and cure whatever is ailing the baby.
$10.00 is a good number for me.
Mittsy, You are so funny. I can envision you outside with your floodlights pulling weeds or planting flowers. I thought about doing this more than once....Your neighbors would think you were nuts after they call the police, lol...But, the thought of snakes in darkness of the night is more than enough to keep me in the house.
Happy birthday, I would like the dutch iris mix.
$10 is fine with me also. morning mom
$10.00 is ok with me. The freezer can wait (lol). DGers are more important.
My seeds are ready to go out, just need a gift name.
I LOVE Christmas.
Mittsy, the snakes are scared of me around here. I walk tall and carry shotgun. hehe
$10 sounds fine for me.
I know how you feel mittsy, my birthday is 2 days after Christmas! I would love some love mist and my # is 9.
Karen
I still need to hear from a couple of people about the gift exchange before I can work on pairing off, they are - sevidra, Hillbilly_Gran, and gammy3... If any of you don't want to be in on the exchange that is okay just dmail me and let me know.... It is seperate from the seed swap :o)
Great Grandbaby (Jlyn) got to come home today, the upper GI is all they did, I thank God they didn't use the scope to check her out. Now I just hope my grandaughter (Keirsten) listens to me, so we can get that junk flushed out of her... Keirstens boy friend has a long weekend off so she and baby are staying at his place - against my begging and pleading with her not too.... I am going to have some sleepless nights till Tuesday :( But that is okay too, sometimes a little worrying does a body good. lol
Woops, sorry - 10 is fine with me too.
As for Mittsy's thing, I really have no idea - I haven't grown flowers (save the roses) in ages.Considering my gardening habits, I'd be afraid a friend or a kid would try to _eat_ them (everything in my garden is edible). Are any of them poisonous (and thus to be avoided)?
-Sev
Sevidra, no flower seeds for you. I have a very nice surprise that i think you and your boys will enjoy growing. My grandkids did a great job with theirs, putting outside in good weather and bringing in in the winter. Do you have two sons?
$10 is fine for me too:)
Tommie
Okay, got some good news from my grandaughter - Jlyn is cleaned out :o) Thank God!!!
I will be dmailing each of you your gift exchange partner this coming week so you can dmail each other some ideas on what you like... and mailing info.
Also, for those of you that have just a post office box listed in the exchange could you dmail me your address, unless it is okay to receive packages in you P.O.B. then I won't need it :o)
Hope you all have a wonderful evening,
Connie
connie, great news about the munchkin, i am so happy for you. she is still in my prayers
Thanks, My grandaughter said when Jlyn woke her up she had to give her a bath before she could even feed her rofl... I tell ya, that Karo syrup works wonders lol.... Keirsten asked me how would she know when to stop putting the Karo syrup in her bottles and I told her she would know, I just didn't tell her how she would know lol... I know I am rotten, but there are just some things a new mother needs to experience on her own... She hates cleaning a messy diapers and always says granny Jlyn needs you. :o) This time granny wasn't there to call to rofl... I said welcome to mother hood ;-) Boy I tell you as much as I love babies, I don't miss that part of it one bit!
connie, i understand completely. roflol while i read your post
bye the way, i sent my envy and seeds out thursday
WOW that was fast, could you tell us what it cost to mail the bubble envelope. Since postage cost have went up, I haven't a clue.
if i remember crrectly i put 4 stamps on just in case. didn't feel like going to p.o., and it didn't get returned, so you should recieve it soon.
Connie, I would like to send someone some wonderful goat milk soap that my niece makes for the gift exchange. I am trying to help her to expand her home business and want to introduce DG'ers to her bath products. I think she is going to take out a classified add next week so she can get some Christmas sells.
Anyway, I know some people would love to get that as a gift and others may not so could we see who would like to get that as their gift and then we could dicuss what scents they want in a dmail.
Karen
I am always up for soaps karri_sue. I have got to figure out how to do a classified too. My brother has a patent on an inground fan designed to look like a rock and he is finally ready to go. Would you mind D-mailing me about the best way to write an ad? I read the site, but figured you may be able to give me some more insight. Thanks.
Thanks Kathy, will make received next to your name & # once I get it :o)
Karen, I remember reading somewhere that someone made that :o) d-mailing you for more info.
Connie
Mittsy, yes, I have two sons. But I also have two others - FOUR sons! lol
One more and we have a ball team. Hubby has an appointment on Thursday, though - he's going to get fixed so we don't have anymore. *laugh*
I wanted one girl. Just one girl. And I wound up with four boys. We were discussing it last night, and he said 'If you want another, you can marry someone else' LOL
At least he changes diapers. :)
... and cooks... doesn't clean though. Ah well, I can't be spoiled about everything.
Soap not so much for me, thanks - I buy from Vermont Soap, in large boxes. I have more soap in my house than you'd believe, and no goat-smell (haven't smelled yours, but last time I tried goatsmilk soap, I smelled like a goat. Ew...). Of course, with four rambunctious boys in the house, I _need_ to have a lot of soap. We buy castile by the gallon. *laugh*
-Sev
The idea of homemade soap and a small business are great, but I'm a vegan, so I wouldn't want the goatsmilk part. I don't think I've ever noticed goatsmilk soap smelling like agoat in the store though. It was probably a fluke Sevidra._Kath
Just a FYI on the goatsmilk soap, it should not smell like a goat! The soap may have been rancid or the maker didn't know what they were doing! Goats milk soap makes your skin feel so soft and it is very good for your skin. I'm not trying to sell anything, just talking from experience because I used to make it as well. That's why I wanted to put the message out there because people are either crazy for it or don't care for it and I didn't want to send anyone a gift that they didn't care for!
Karen
pupil, she's so cute! I'd be afraid my boys would fall all over themselves for her (not that I wouldn't too lol).
Of course, if we'd managed to get a girl, she'd get spoiled rotten. My eldest (at 12) already holds and spoils the baby brother - if it were a girl, we'd be in trouble. :)
Karri, that's interesting. It's very possible the maker didn't really know what they were doing. I kind of gave up on the stuff after that, since I don't know much about it myself. *shrug* maybe I should give it another chance sometime. :)
Very cute Pupil! I have two boys, would like a girl, but at the same rate I'm done having babies-especially since my babies are 11 and 15!
Morning ALL!!!!!
Morning Mom-hope you are well
And to my sisters (in crime-LOL)-Kathy and Traci-HUGS!!!
LOL flower-I hear you! I also have 2 boys-would have loved a girl but now that I do daycare for 2 little girls-NO THANKS! LOL. I love my boys just fine :o)
Pupil, what a doll you have there-very cute!!
Can we please have people post what they like for their secret santa?
I love anything red, anything for the garden, candles (Love Lavender)
I also love any new Christmas Ornament, would love one from my Santa to add to my tree.
I try to not have any ornaments that are alike and I put the person who gave it to me and the year on the bottom, so every year I can look at the tree and remember good friends and loved ones. Everyone in my family picks out a new one to add as well, So I would LOVE an ornament. I am easy-LOL
Oh yes, about seeds. I have TONS of Echinacea seeds, they are not the common purple, they are very tall and a fuschia color. Also some Texas Mountain Laurel. Very pretty. Anyone wanting some let me know :o)
Robbi
Robbi I would love some of both Do you want me to send a sabe? I would love anything for me ,soap,.ornament or anything homemade.
