Ok got it now. I came up with an extra. The other one is marked. Thanks Ted
North Texas Roundup plant ID thread.
Oh, good.
Will nobody claim my plant pictured above?
Pat, I haven't seen Sylvia over here, but it might be fr her & could be a hosta. We loaded most of her car Sat b4 I headed to my Mom's. Just a thought.
:~)
Yeah, could be. Leaves don't look much like a hosta, but the roots do.
'kay, Sylvia, where are you? LOL.
You know, Linda, I'll bet that's it. There's a hosta called Saishu Jima.
Bluesmaven, Can you tell me what Rain Lily they are? I had an envelope left at my area and after my cat got hold of it I could only read "fairy". I see there are so many pink, white varieties. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/adv_search.php?searcher%5Bcommon%5D=rain+lily&searcher%5Bfamily%5D=&searcher%5Bgenus%5D=&searcher%5Bspecies%5D=&searcher%5Bcultivar%5D=&searcher%5Bhybridizer%5D=&search_prefs%5Bblank_cultivar%5D=&search_prefs%5Bsort_by%5D=rating&images_prefs=with&Search=Search
The St. Joseph Lily is the one Mamajack said. Got those from my Aunt over 20 years ago. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/56501/
I haven't been able to take inventory of the plants i received, although I have potted and watered all of them that were bare root. Maybe tomorrow I will get a chance. I am very behind schedule, it seems there is more and more to do every day.
Josephine.
I hear you! One day when we don't have to work for a living and can set our own scheldule, then we can plant the next day!!! LOL!
Hey Sheila, I don't know much about the Fairy lily, mom gave them to me. Fortunately my mom finally took my advice and now is a DG'er herself. I'll get her to reply. Her member name is sesitz. When she joined she meet a lady on here who lives in the same small town my mom grew up in. Small world huh?
josephine, is dicentra a native plant to texas? there is one i saw a picture of at lady bird johnson's site called sexangularis. do you know that plant?
bluesmaven, did she know the lady?
Josephine, I added one to your pile that you weren't expecting, Salvia penstemonoides. I had tried to share that one with you before, but it turned out to be the rose-leaf salvia instead. I found the real thing in Kerrville last fall and propagated a division for you. It's in a sort of lime green quart-sized pot, and the name is written around the pot in darker green.
No she had never met her before mamajack. What makes it even stranger is that it's a pretty small town.
well i am sure they talked long and hard about who they might know in common. i haven't met anyone on daves like that but i sure would like to. so these fairy lilies came from your mother, bluesmaven? i am going to sow them and see what we get.
i have my red buckeye seeds in a pot and they will go in the refrigerator tomorrow. i hope all of them germinate. i just love starting these seeds. i think it's because they are so big and i don't need glasses to see them. lol.
Mamajack, you know what's even weirder? The lady lives on the same street my mom grew up on.
Mamajack in answer to your question about Dicentra. There are six dicentras that are native to north America, but none of them is sexangularis and none of them is native to Texas.
The dicentras are the duchmans breeches and the bleeding hearts.
I am not familiar with any of them.
There are two Diclipteras and both are native to Texas, one of them is
Dicliptera sexangularis and maybe this is the one you were thinking about.
Here is a link;http://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=DISE9
I am not familiar with this one either, but I hope it answers your question.
Josephine.
Pat, thank you for the Salvia penstemonoides, that is such a neat plant, so I am very happy to have it, I was going to ask who gave it to me, but you answered my question. You are a sweetheart.
Josephine.
O.K. Guys, this is what I have from the swap.

1 potted Liatris.

lol. i meant dicliptera sexangularis. if lady bird johnson's place has a photo of it does that mean i can get seeds?
too funny blues maven about the same street. i know your mama got a good laugh telling that story. it really can be a small world. when i went to los angeles this summer i was on holllywood blvd. with my kids and i hear my name being called. it was our postal clerk from fate, tx. there with her family. that was just plain weird to me. i didn't even know who she was for a minute. lol.
cocoa, last year i got my seeds in about nov. i immediately put them in a jug of dirt with a lid and put it in my refrigerator. i wet the dirt real good and never watered again. the jug was plastic so i could see condensation on it and knew it was still moist. i set it outside the end of jan./first of feb. and left it outside. sometime in mar. maybe apr. i started seeing them pokin' their heads out. 3 of 4 seeds germinated and i think the other one would have germinated as well. but i messed with it too early.
oh, yes. i was supposed to bring scarlet milkweed seeds to someone. who was it so i can mail you some?
Josephine, the coneflowers and columbine are from me, and yes, they were intended for you. :) The columbine is the yellow Texas native that was on your wish list.
Thank you so much Pattie, I know I will enjoy them very much.
The blue tubs of horse herb were brought for Broncbuster, but I bet he was loaded down and had to leave them. Who better to leave them with! LOL! As you know, I have plenty and don't want them back!
Mitch, tell me again what the color is on the Brugs you brought me?

Mitch--the bulbine I got from you. Do you have an ID on it? I'm trying to figure out if it's one of those that are cold-hardy in this zone.
Hello Broncbuster, do you still need the horse herb? and can you come and get it?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for letting me know Sheila, if he doesn't need it we will plant it at the wildscape.
Josephine.
Josephine...I also brought you the white passionvine.
Josephine, I brought liatris, mealy cup sage, and pink obedient plant for you in addition to the salvia penstemonoides, which was an extra. There will be much more of the pink obedient plantfor you in the spring if you want it. The apple mint jungle has completely covered it, but I know its roots are still there in abundance. It's one of those plants I can't kill, even when I want to!
Patricia, do you grow the mealy cup and obedient in full sun, or do they get some shade?
I'll take some horse herb if anyone doesn't want it.
I grow mealy cup sage in full sun and obedient plant in light shade. The sage flourishes in the sun, but I have not tried it in a shady spot.
Kim, thank you for the white passion vine, it looks very delicate, but I bet that is because it is young.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pat, thank you for the Liatris the mealy cup sage and obedient plant, all great plants to have.
I should have kept track of what I was receiving better, but I was more concerned with what I was giving. I will keep track better next time.
Josephine.
bulvine - I grew it in ground here with no problem - 3 years running.
Brug - warm peachy color. Very nice.
I don't remember who I got the Salvia Coral Nymph from but it is blooming and it is gorgeous!! Thanks
That may be from me, I know I brought quite a few seedlings. My plant grew from a quart pot to a 3'X3' area in one summer. The butterflies absolutely love it!
:) Kim
Just like baby pink, huh?
:~)
Thanks, Pat & Mitch!
Thanks Kim! I can see why the butterflies love it and that's good because my backyard is kinda geared towards attracting butterflies and hummers. :D
Mitch,
I have a very big start of bamboo that was in my car. Do you know where it might belong?
LouC
Josephine, the duranta was from me. It was one of our trades.
Would you believe that my Sycamore tree from you was one of my favorite things and it wasn't even on the trade list. Thank you for it. Somehow though I had written down that I was supposed to get mex milkweeds, turks cap, 2 fig trees and some walking onions from you. They didn't make it to my table.
It doesn't really matter though, I got plenty of goodies and had a great time and can't wait to do it again.
The Sycamore will grow fast and shade a bit of my yard and in a couple of years I can have some hostas in it's shade.
Charlene
