Colloquialisms Part 2

Santa Fe, NM

Hi. What a fun thread. How about this one; "Just as happy as if he had good sense." Does that mean if he had good sense he wouldn't be so happy? Got that from a friend's mom when I was a teenager in Tempe, Arizona. She was referring to my boyfriend at the time!

How about..."you can just jerk his feelings off his sleeve!"

Slicker than snot on a door knob. Tighter than the bark on a hickory tree, meaner than a stripped snake, lower than a snake's belly, colder than a witch's tit, nervous as a long tailed cat, in a room full of rocking chairs, caught between a rock and a hard place, meaner than a junk yard dog, colder than a well diggers behind.

And That my dear Bons is... Deeper than whale poo in the bottom of the ocean!!!

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

I heard it as "colder than a well-digger's wallet". LOL

Etither way, it is probably cold. Been wracking my brain for others, and can probably think of them, of course while I am away from here.

Dusty never heard yours before, but I guess that would be pretty deep.

How bout...Colder than Molasses in January?? and yup...that's realllly deep...LOL...I always heard Colder than a well diggers behind too...and it was always *slicker then greased owl snot* in my clan...Owls are a bad omen in my tribe, as are cawing Ravens...especially if they are sitting to the west..

Not a colloquialism but I have to share one I love. "May you be in Heaven a half an hour before the Devil knows you're dead." Favorite Irish blessing and it goes out to all my friends here.

Good ones, all! I like that about being in heaven 30 minutes before the devil knows you're dead! Ha! Fooled him!
