Morning Glories 2007 #32
OOOHH Nice Emma!!! What do you call her?!
Hi Ronnie. . .
Another *New* for me with no name yet.
I wanted to ask Ron first if it may be anything he recognizes.
Some blooms are SOLID WHITE,
Some are White with a very light Pink Tint,
Some are White with a very slight Pink Blizzard
AND,
Some are PINK SILK
I will need to look for the Pink Silk to post.
Here is another from the same vines
Emma
Emma, have you grown the Kurenai before? http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/p.php?pid=4129488
Interestingly, I purchased it this past year and this is what I got! http://davesgarden.com/community/journals/viewentry/125908/
I wonder what it really is supposed to be like? - Arlan
Emma, all beautiful. The baby pink split petal is neat. Love the hige purple
flaked shibori.
Love the Hige Purple flaked shibori Emma!
Thanks Jackie,
I have a 'thing' now for Hige/Feathered MGs and with all of the crossing I did this year, no telling what I will get next year.
Arlan . . .
Yes, this is the first year I grew 'Kurenai' - and they do look like the photo of the mother plant, but you know how that goes.
Yours is definitely not - maybe 'Heian no Umi'???
I grew 'Kurenai' late in the year and only one vine but I did end up with a few seed pods. Let me know if you would like a few and I can send you seeds along with the other of mine that you wanted - will need to look up the name. The JMG that you helped me ID.
I have a couple of other JMG's that are interesting that I'll send you photos of as soon as I get my new DVD player [or what ever it is called] installed. Mine went out right at the end of my warranty. So, for now I can't get to my photos that I have on several DVDs.
Emma
Thanks Sandy - It is a real 'honey'
Emma
Emma - Those are all beautiful! Love the color change of the Blue Hige later in the day! What a nice collection you are currently growing out! :-)
Lovely blooms Emma. I particularly love the higes, but they are all beautiful.
Thanks . . .
We have really enjoyed these Higes this year.
Emma
Gourd - those are so pretty. Reminds me a bit of a hibiscus.
Thank you, they did take a long time to bloom.
Emma, what a nice flower there. I like the way it is lighter and goes a little darker. Next year I'm trying a few more purpureas, this year was not a good year for them.
A.
Antoinette. . .
Thank you -
I have been really amazed at how easily the Purpureas cross.
Pretty Blooms of your I. macrorhiza Antoinette,
I too have several growing but no blooms this year for some reason.
Dee. . .
This is Ipomoea cordatotriloba PINK FORM which is a Texas Native and they are growing all in my back alley area. I remember sending you gobs of seeds of this.

Last Two years I grew the Ipomoea cordatotriloba WHITE FORM

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=3995788

AND
Got a Cross between the two resulting in
Ipomoea cordatotriloba PINK BLIZZARD

Dee - Are the two photos you posted supposed to be from the same cultivar? I was looking at both photos and the leaves look different. Pretty pink!
Gourd - Your I. macrorhiza taking 3 years to bloom remind me of the Maypops I grew from seed 2 years ago. They finally bloomed profusely this year! I was told it would take until the 2nd year for them to flower. Worth the wait on both of our vines! :-)
My purpurea are doing great right now, as my nils are petering out. I have commited the ultimate sin ...
My unknown pink triple feathered vine has crossed over the back fence into the vacant lot behind my yard. I can't get back there to pull them back over into my yard because it has become swamp land behind my fence from all the rain. I don't know which is worse the mosquitos or the snakes. I think the skeeters are trying to eat any warm body alive. They definitely swarm me anytime I go outside! Ugh! Those biting bugs are so nasty!!!
The bright side to this ... perhaps the vines will smother the invasive Brazilian Pepper trees. My dh is extremely allergic to the sap from those trees when we try to cut them back away from our yard. Where there was once no Pepper trees, there are now hundreds crowded in the lots around my property. Invasive is an understatement for them here in Florida! I'll take invasive MGs any day! Ha!
Emma - That is so COOL that you got an Ipomoea cordatotriloba PINK BLIZZARD out of the cross between the pink and white vines! That's really awesome!!! :-)
..here is a blizzard Ipomoea cordatotriloba that I grew this year. http://davesgarden.com/community/journals/si/131651/
It is in the ground, along with 9 other siblings, and I am thinking seriously of pulling them up before I get overrun. I need the space for JMG grow outs!
Arlan
Arlan,
Love your Blizzard -
One thing that I have learned about I. cordatotriloba is that you can get it to grow just about any way you want. Even Straight Up!
If you decide to keep them, give them some tall structure to climb up and away from your other vines.
