Gourd - Your I. macrorhiza taking 3 years to bloom remind me of the Maypops I grew from seed 2 years ago. They finally bloomed profusely this year! I was told it would take until the 2nd year for them to flower. Worth the wait on both of our vines! :-) My purpurea are doing great right now, as my nils are petering out. I have commited the ultimate sin ... My unknown pink triple feathered vine has crossed over the back fence into the vacant lot behind my yard. I can't get back there to pull them back over into my yard because it has become swamp land behind my fence from all the rain. I don't know which is worse the mosquitos or the snakes. I think the skeeters are trying to eat any warm body alive. They definitely swarm me anytime I go outside! Ugh! Those biting bugs are so nasty!!! The bright side to this ... perhaps the vines will smother the invasive Brazilian Pepper trees. My dh is extremely allergic to the sap from those trees when we try to cut them back away from our yard. Where there was once no Pepper trees, there are now hundreds crowded in the lots around my property. Invasive is an understatement for them here in Florida! I'll take invasive MGs any day! Ha! |
