Hey Guys thanks for the information.
We got our Halloween Party at school for the kids today and then for the adult students later this evening so I`ll check back in a day or two.

Morning Glories 2007 #32
Emma, I have the plants separated, and I know how each of them bloomed. I may just keep one of the blizzards and one of the pinks. Each of these plants have distinct seed pods, so I'll easily keep the seed separate if needed. Trouble is, I planted them under a row of young Muscadines that I hope will be large enough for fruit next year. I wonder if they could co-mingle and not smother the grape?
Thanks for your offer of Kurenai seed! I think I'll pass at this point. I've got to assess my plans for next year, and the available space! You do have a couple that we may talk about in the future though!

Arlan . . .
I've never grown Muscadines to know their habit, but I can't see how one or two of your vines could hurt if that is all you keep. Especially your Blizzard. I have zillions of the Pinks if you decide to pull yours out and want any at a later date. Plants included.
I'm thinking about moving my White I. cordatotriloba to my fence at the back of my property next year and keep the Pinks on the 'other' side of the alley. I really like the White Form.
Just let me know about my seeds. I do have a couple of other JMGs that you might like as well and will send you photos when I can.
Emma
So many gorgeous blooms....drool city over here. Emma luv your cross of the Ipomoea cordatotriloba PINK BLIZZARD.
:) Donna
Becky, do you have to worry about West Nile? That vine is so pretty. Sad that you lost it to the lot next door.
Judith - Thanks! Yes, I do worry about what the skeeters might be transmitting via bites. This is the first year I haven't heard anything about West Nile. Encephalitis is the main concern right now. I worked with a man who contracted encephalitis via a skeeter bite. He almost died. He had short term memory loss and was in recovery for months. The weird thing was that he was in the process of a divorce and after becoming ill didn't remember that detail. His soon-to-be ex played along due to his memory loss until he fully recovered. It was an interesting situation to say the least. It is a miracle that he is alive. His kids found him unconscious when they came to visit him for the weekend. That probably saved his life! I had plans of gardening all weekend, but I was outside briefly to harvest more seeds from my MG vines and gotten eaten up. This was during the day and after spraying on repellent! The skeeters are horrible right now. There is standing water all over our neighborhood from 2 months of rain. (sigh)
I haven't lost the vine ... yet. It is still rooted in my yard. But I felt the guilt of possible seeds dropping all over the vacant lot that is currently 1 - 2 feet under water. The vines seem to be loving the water and location! And growing rather aggressively. :-)
Thanks Donna . . .
Becky . . .
Can't you get a long handled rake and pull the vines back to your side before all of the seed pods become dry?
Emma
Emma, this one is amazing!! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=4129496
Thanks, Emma! I hadn't thought of that! I will try that today. If I break off some of the vine that is attached to the Pepper Trees behind my fence, will it grow more branches (vines)? I don't want to prematurely end the life of this beautiful triple feather vine. I am okay with this vine dropping seeds in the vacant lot and possibly growing more vines, but I know that it is not the politically correct thing to do. (It sure wouldn't break my heart to see that lot covered with this vine vs. Pepper trees everywhere! lol)
Thanks Ronnie,
It really is a pretty MG.
Becky . . .
GREAT PHOTOS
I am still amazed at all that President Bush is throwing. That is a great MG that you have.
On your Triple Feather MG, you can easily get more vines from dropped seeds - especially in your zone. What I am uncertain of is what all of the standing water will do to all of the seeds. Many will germinate right away and that is probably it. I don't know how they could continue to grow in water. Maybe someone else can help you out with that one.
Joyce Cobb; Rebecca; Sunrise Serenade and your Triple Feather MG are all Ipomoea purpurea.
Emma
Does Joyce Cobb also come in a red/pink bloom? If it does, I would love to see a photo!
Joyce Cobb has various colors.
Karen posted a perfect example a few threads back of the different colored blooms she has gotten. Maybe you can keep clicking back on the threads until you find it. It seems like she had the blooms placed on her car for the photo.
Emma
Joanne - Those are lovely! Love the color of the blue and the white & yellow throats! Boy oh boy!I am just going to have to grow some MGs inside this winter! Y'all have convinced me! :-)
It's Beth's fault, I copied her indoor idea ... Ü
I think the blooms look even prettier later in the day; the star turns dusky pink....
Yeah,we had a thread about that. Here you go. bye/bye, for now. Karen

Hi there,
Great photos..
I dont' have anything to post right now..
Joanne, great job there in Zone 3.. I don't know if I could survive there, or rather, I don't know if DH would survive there, I'd have the whole house full of plants ALL year lol..
becky, those purpureas do seed so slow, but when they start ... watch out.. mine did not do anything but I did start them off late and the winds just tore my sunrise serenade 3 times, so they had just started blooming and I had to cut them and move them for some work we are having done on the yard and now, I may not get any seeds off the feathered types.. I'm hoping to get at least a couple of seeds off the pink feathered, it looked so full.
Emma, how old are your macrorhiza tubers? These are doing great, but only two flowers for their first.. hopefully the tubers are growing and getting bigger. I can hardly wait to put them into the ground, once the work is done on the yard, I'm sticking everything that can be stuck in the ground IN.. The only thing in pots from now on will be the annuals.. (I hope)..lol you know how that goes.
A.
Antoinette -
My macrorhiza tubers are various ages. My oldest is 4-years old. It bloomed the first time after 2-years. Then I planted it in the ground and got a total of maybe 4-blooms. It did nothing this year at all. I have now dug up the tuber and put it back in a container to see what it wants to do now. The others that I have are younger and are in containers. I'll see how they do next year and see if it is something I am doing wrong with them so far as sun/part shade, or what.
Emma
Be sure to let me know what you find out....my macrorhiza is just a baby (germinated this spring) and I need all the info I can get on growing it. Ramosissima got a lot bigger than it did even though they are both new from spring and both are tubers.
Beth, great room for MGs! I'm envious...
Beth - are your indoor MG's only getting natural light through windows, or are you using grow lights of some sort? I'm just curious, as I'm wondering if I can start some new plants indoors right now, but not use grow lights...I'm just not sure how much light they actually need...
Very cool indoor room you have there!
Joanne
I do have a 1000watt Metal Halide lamp in there, plus several windows.
Beth, ok, will do . . .
It seems that I read somewhere, but need to confirm, that the tubers do not like to be shaded, which mine were. I need to experiment with mine next year and see what I can learn from those that have success growing this beauty.
Emma
Thanks Beth. I'm going to go tell my DH I need a 1000watt Metal Halide lamp for my plant room just to see what he says. Heh heh. Ü
Beth - I agree with Emma! That's quite a set-up you got there! I had a much smaller set-up in my garage last winter to save my tropical water lilies. It worked! LOL! But drove my dh crazy with all the grow lights and containers of water with the lilies. When I had to buy the lights originally from HD, the cashier asked me what I was growing. I told her and she replied, "Oh good! I was hoping it wasn't anything illegal!" lol
A - I agree, I now see lots and lots of seed pods all over my Joyce Cobb! Love that vine! I actually have a new appreciation for I. purpurea because the vines are so vigorous and they just put on an amazing show of blooms! Next ones I grow out will be in their own pots but are going up against the fence for more room to spread out and grow with better support! :-) I learned so much my first 20 cultivar grow-outs in the rectangular containers. Experience is the best teacher! :-)
Joanne - Good luck convincing your dh! :-)
Beth - I was wondering if yours vines stay behaved on the Bamboo stakes or do you have something else that they are climbing on. Some of mine got huge this past grow-out! Do they grow slower inside? I'm really interested in growing them indoors.
The nils stay behaved on the bamboo. When they get to the top of it I pinch of the "branch" so they start growing more from the base. The tropicals don't behave, though. They get going up to the ceiling and make a canopy.
