Show us your Bloomers #2

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

I would go with something with multi-season interest. I love Lilacs and have a couple but after the ten days to two weeks of bloom, it's boring! With that exposure, you have many Hydrangea to choose from. Itea will do well also. And of course, Japanese Maples, especially if it's early sun.

S of Lake Ontario, NY(Zone 6a)

Sun is from 12 - 5. I want small tree/large shrub size - and very pretty.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Well you still have a bunch of JM's to choose from. There are many Hydrangea paniculatas that would work. They would give you flowers from mid Summer through Fall. Cornus kousa, Stewartia pseudocamellia and Cercis canadensis 'Forest Pansy' are all nice small trees that flower nicely and have Fall color. I have all three.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

One of my DL's bloomed today! I have had it in a pot as I lost the tag and knew it was one of 2 cultivators. It bloomed today and so I now know that it is 'Midnight in Marrakesh' and not 'Wolf Eye's'.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - must be catchy Celeste. As the temps have dropped here, I doubt my buds will open. Those are two exotic sounding varieties.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Nothing exotic except the name.

It's really pretty.

My mother-in-law gave Anna an interesting blue-flowering ground cover. It's been planted as of last weekend, and still blooming.

Here's what is still blooming today.

No cows near by but the next door neighbors have goats. The people across the street have chickens (on the front lawn) and we have rabbits, dogs, and a cat. It's enough to keep the predators around at night and the curious to slow thier cars down when going by these 3 houses!

I like that, Candyce! Keep us posted on how long it blooms, please.

Candyce, looks like Anna scored on that one - pretty sure it's one of the Gentians, a really nice fall bloomer :) Possibly this one? http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/49899/

Wheatfield, NY(Zone 6a)

It's so nice to still see so many pretty things. Including the chickens...I like the different colors :) I need callicarpa and itea..DH was just talking about more shrubs next year.

Most of what's blooming here is repeats of what I've shown previous days. this one is worth repeating ... Arctic Queen

I think this is the best bloom yet on Vancouver. and I found that the reds photograph much better in late afternoon than in the early morning sun

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)

We still have a few bloomers here, despite a light frost last night.
Here is Rosarium Uetsereum (spelling assistance, anyone?) still blooming insanely despite being swathed in fake cobwebs for Halloween....

A closer look... I love this rose, not much on scent, but it's healthy and loves to bloom like mad. Stops traffic in the spring when it's covered in blooms....

Pineapple sage from the herb garden. This one may be coming inside tonight.... I like the flowers too much to let the frost get it.

Home Depot rose "Savanna Silk" which, despite being a Home Depot rose, is disease free and very floriferous.....

Last but not least, Andrew, very tired from his morning walk during which he flushed quail but did not catch it. He was even too pooped to follow me around the garden to take pictures....

oops, that was a lot blurrier than I thought it was.....

Back in July, I cut old bloom,
And here in dull October's gloom
I surely didn't expect to see a
Millefolium Achillea!

rcn:

I think you are right on the money with that plant ID. I had to go out and make sure of the number of flower petals, but yeah ... both have the same number!

The Monadnock Region, NH(Zone 5a)

very nice bloom, Don!
and, a great poem, too!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Wait. I cut my achillea (assorted) back sometime in the summer too. Are they about to bloom again?

I did see an achillea 'love parade' bloom though recently, I think.
