I finally got a double worth posting and had to dig for the thread! lol!

This was a Queen (male) that has been hanging out for a couple days waiting on a female. The Monarch was newly emerged and I had set HIM on a Mist Flower to take a picture and the Queen zoomed in and started trying to court him! Finally the Monarch flashed his spots and the Queen backed off.

I had an aster and it died because of the drought here. BooHoo. Now I need More, More More.....
I saw 2 monarchs yesterday on my butterfly bush, but no camera. Of course they were gone when I got back outside.

Beautiful pictures everyone.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

...That happens to me all the time beclu!
....Thanks pford!
....jmorth nice Asters and pics!! Mine haven't started blooming yet, but never seem to look as pretty as yours. I also need to plant more.

This is a pic of two of three that emerged yesterday morning. Ten down and 42 more to go!

I totally have to thank Jmorth for the aster pictures. This 5.99 plant is worth GOLD in butterflies.

Two sulphurs, two painted ladies and a bumble bee.
oops, make that TWO bumbles. (at least… there I covered my bases)

Nice pic!

Great pics everyone!
Thanks for sharing.

LOL!

That's so funny how they are lined up in the same direction.

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

2 Monarchs. They are only passing through.

They're partying on the Frostweed, where they can nectar on lots of plants without flying very far! BTW, there's quite a few Queens, but I haven't found eggs or cats lately. Just passing through now, I guess. Not many Monarchs coming through here, the most I've seen is two at a time.

Here's a boy and a girl I was chasing today, but couldn't get a good picture....

I released my last three Monarchs today and forgot to take a picture. It looks like they aren't going to lay anymore eggs in the area now. But I will be ready for them in the spring when the plants are just popping up. We are getting more and more each day; but they are only nectaring.

I finally got a pair to post.

And a truly georgeous pair it is Lily!!! What is the salvia they are on?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Sheila, those were pineapple salvias, one of the taller salvias that bloom so profusely in the Fall. Here is another pair of Monarch/Queen. Nectaring on M.W.

That is pretty!!

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Love that, need to get one of those!!!

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

I finally got a pair too!

I usually don't have more than one butterfly visiting at a time. I know, I'm pathetic. Today, three monarchs and two gulf frits at the same time! It's really hard to get those double photos even when you have doubles around! I have even more admiration for the photos above!

I really love those sulfers on the salvai -- beautiful!

Thumbnail by Elphaba

Beautiful photo Elphaba!!! I agree, I had three and four in the garden today and tried and tried. Got some but haven't downloaded them yet. They won't be as good as your's above.

Rockport, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks Sheila. I hope your photos turn out better than you expected! That photo surprised me b/c one is further away than the other one, but neither seems totally out of focus. I wonder how that happened?! Wonder if it will ever happen again! Good luck with your photos.

Wow! Good job! I wish I could grow those flowers. I know that everyone says they are easy, but I've never been able to keep one alive. Just beautiful -- all of it!
