Nice job adel!

Would you call that a Birdie Cabana? :-)

Klamath River, CA

es la pajaro casa.

Brainerd, MN

It sure doesn't take them long!

Love that sandwich feeder. Let us know how it works out.

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

I am so jealous; all I get is finches... and they migrate soon, which means I will be all alone!

Resin, you said "why thistle" and I tried 2 different seeds for finches, but they only go near the thistle! What's wrong with thistle?
I have all kinds of different seeds in different feeders, but no takers so far. The water is a winner though.

Adelbertcat, Nice Casa. I think you should market those plans!

Klamath River, CA

Who uses plans?

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Way up in the thread there was a platform feeder up against a window at grasmussen's house. Is this home made or can I buy one somewhere? I'm not handy. The best thing I ever bought was a heater for the fountain. Hope it's okay that I just jumped into this discussion, I love my birdies.

Marlton, NJ

Hi cathy4, Of course its fine to jump in to the discussion.
All are welcome anytime!

Marlton, NJ

Gary (Grasmussen), You have a question! :-)

Christie have you tried just putting out Black Oil Sunflower seed along w/ sunflower seeds out of the shell?

Marin, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes Pelletory, they are out... What am I doing wrong?

Marlton, NJ

Hi Christie, How old is the seed or how long have you had it out?

Is this in your backyard?

Brainerd, MN

I wanted to get some closeups of some of the birds so I cleaned out hanging planter baskets, threw in some seed and here is my first result. These baskets are hanging from hooks just outside my windows. It took them about a week to find the seed.

Oh adel, I LOVE your set up! Can you show us a picture of the whole thing? I know I keep sayaing this but you get the best variety!

I have never seen a sandwich feeder pell. Is that to keep other birds away or to keep the suet fresher or something? Its really nice to look at.

I am getting pine siskins now along with the goldfinches at the thistle feeders. I haven't gotten a photo yet but will keep trying.

Klamath River, CA

lilyfantn..............This is still a work in progress. I had some materials left over from building my wife a Florida room so I thought I would throw this together. I have a covered area attached to the front porch but the birds are very nervous about getting that close to the house (except for the piglets).

Wow, I am impressed! You have all bases covered with that setup and you already have takers. They wll all be used t it in no time!

I finally got a picture of a siskin but it isn't very good. Its from inside the house. I'm hoping too get a better one from the back windows.

You guy's are very creative!! Mr. Sharp - Shinned just passed through here and grabbed a bite to eat from the thistle feeder....... :(

Marlton, NJ

Same here nanny! I couldn't see who he got but could hear the screams. :-(

Very creative sybila and nice shot!

Nice pic Lily! Have you had the P. Siskens in years past?

St. Louis County, MO(Zone 5a)

Here is a picture of my predator, I think it is a small hawk, son says falcon. He scares the birds away from my feeders and water. I tried to get closer but he few off. He's been hanging around since June. DH loves seeing him, so he won't cut the branch back, it broke off in the ice storm this spring.

Hi Pell - yes pine siskins have always been here but I was lumping them in with finches. It took my neighbor across the street to ask me if I was getting siskins at my feeders. When she described them I realized that yes, I was getting them! Their beaks are slimmer than house finch beaks (plus they're a little smaller body wise.) Here is one from the dining room window taken about a minute ago.

Cathy that looks like a Coopers Hawk to me; what do you think Resin?

Marlton, NJ

Hi Lily, Sorry I forgot to answer your question earlier about the Sandwich suet feeder.

Its just another style of feeder; might be a little harder for the starlings to reach the suet but I'm just hoping to see the Red-bellieds and the Flickers use this one.

Anchorage, AK(Zone 4a)

I'm a little late in replying to the question about my window feeder, because I've had a cold and haven't been doing much, including keeping up with this form. The feeder is just a square board. To keep the seeds from falling off, I attached a thin strip of wood, along the edges. Then I attached it to the window sill with two screws.
